Oh Jazzfan, what a perfectly penned ending.  Honestly, that was so well thought out and executed...I think Jim summed it up best when he was lying in bed contemplating having gone from mortality to immortality in the blink of an eye.  I can't remember at what point I thought you were going here...at some point in the hospital though.  I loved that you gave them such a happy ending after all that angst.

Let's hope that the writers of TO take a page from your book. :-)  Again - what a great ride this was!

Author's Response: Thanks lovefool - I\'m glad you thought the ending fit - because I was not at all sure I was going to get things tied up. (I probably wrote this last chapter half a dozen times) I wondered if folks would suspect the \"Jam babies\" ending (I did havbe that in mind from the beginning) - thanks for letting me know when that occured to you. I was afraid I\'d hinted too early, but I guess not. I really appreciate the review. As to Jam babies on the show? Probably won\'t happen, but I\'d love it.

I love so much about the imagery you create here. I'm also totally in love with the way you described Pam's dreams falling along a spectrum of "coincidence" to "creating a chance".  That's so dead on with the way most of us operate when we really, truly want something.  Definitely the growing process that Pam went through during season 3.  Love it.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. Honestly, I based that section on, as bel mentions below, the spectrum of fic I've read and written. So many of us wanted them together so badly that the ways it happened in fic were all over the map. But it did follow Pam's journey, too, and I was struck by that parallel.

That was an incredibly realistic fight.  I feel like with many writers who take on a JAM fight, I can sort of see which way the fence is leaning, you know what I mean? But I feel like with this, you really made a concerted effort to tell both side of the story and I truly felt for both of them in this.  Very realistic inciting incidents...bad day, the comment about decisions in the salad aisle. lol. Great, great stuff here.

Author's Response: Thanks, LoveFool! I really did try to keep this as balanced as possible, and tried to make especially certain that neither of them was the \"good guy.\" Because in real life, there\'s usually no winner and no innocent party. I\'m really glad you took the time to read and that it didn\'t disappoint.

THAT was awesome!  I think my absolute favorites -- and the ones I could almost SEE and HEAR oh so well were Jim's ode to the Notorious B.I.G. and Pam's ode to Mexican food.  Oh man this is a classic!  For whatever reason I could really hear Jim saying every single line he said in bed with Pam when she had her little...mishap. lol. Can't wait for the next installment!

Author's Response: Thanks, friend! The image of Jim rapping delights me endlessly, I tell you, especially Mr. Indie Rock himself. And glad you liked the Pam \"oops!\" too. :)

I don't think I've ever read a moment like this for Jim and Pam, and I'm happy because I feel like you hit the exact right notes here.  Everything from Pam immediately getting up and whipping her hair into a ponytail to Jim's need for banter at the cemetery.

The detail you leave on the page is fantastic.  Going back to Pam's ponytail for a moment....her speaking to him with the hairband in her teeth,  Jim's explaining about the tree that's decorated by another woman who visits her mom at the cemetery.  The beauty is definitely in the detail here.

Thanks for this.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, LoveFool - I tried to keep this one rather quiet, with just small details, and I\'m really happy you thought that worked. I really appreciate your ongoing support!

Oh this is all the banter that I love!  Never a false note here with all the tit for tit <dwight> they were giving each other.  I loved Pam's choices, and I love that it was Indiana Jones and NOT Harrison Ford and how it was the end of the discussion. lol. Also...I loved that Jim thought Natalie Portman was "not hideous".

And now I will end this ridiculous non-review.

Author's Response: Not at all ridiculous - I loved it! :) Thanks a lot - I\'m glad you liked the goofiness. And come on, who WOULDN\'T do Indy? Seriously!

Oh that was so, so right.  Especially knowing what we know now about Pam's experience in New York and how it might've been great...but not soooooo great. lol.  I think you painted a very realistic picture here (no pun intended, I promise. lol)

Author's Response: Thanks a lot! And hey, I appreciate puns. :) I think Pam would\'ve loved the fact that she finally got to experience everything, but was also still feeling a little out of place. Really glad you enjoyed it! :)

::sigh:: I'm in love with Jim.  Jeez...first, I think this is a completely plausible explanation for how this all happened.  Also I loved Jim's amateur psychoanalysis of Pam's family dynamics and how it relates to her time with Roy.  But then the last bit where he's figuring out how much she'll regret if she doesn't let her dad stay...wow. Again -- I'm in love.

Perfect.

I missed this story!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It was a tough one to write, and write realistically, so I\'m really happy you enjoyed it.

So glad to see this is not complete.  Pitch perfect phrasing and characterization for each character here.  Everything from FNB being just slightly demanding in her "kiss me now" (who wouldn't be demanding of that from our lovely Jim?) all the way to Michael's "type casting".  I can't wait for the rest of your very Brady-very Office Thanksgiving.

Such great Jim/Pam voices in this...loved the Sunshine Day exchange.  And very clever with the "Holly Days".  I really enjoyed this Hugs!  Can't wait for your next story. :-)

Author's Response: Thank you!!!   I think Pam is just dorky enough to enjoy a random Brady tune - and Jim would be more than happy to tease her about it.  :)   I'm not sure what's next - but there always seems to be something - so stay tuned and thanks so much for reading!

I love so much about this moment in time.  You've created such an unbelievably intimate mood here. I love the flashbacks to what really cinched the deal for Jim as he was listening to his mom talk about having wanted a space of her own...PERFECT.  Such a realistic turn to take in terms of a young guy wanting to maybe do something his father didn't get to do.  And the moment at the end with Pam and the butter knife and the kissing the hell out of her...perfect. Well done.

Oh this feels soooo warm and inviting.  What a perfect day after Thanksgiving treat!  I love how blissfully happy you've got there here...and why not? They've just moved into their first home together and it's Christmas time...::sigh:: This was my favorite section:

His smirk was too much for her, and she found herself giggling and walking into his outstretched arms, sinking into him on her old couch next to his old arm chair on top of the terrible carpeting that was both of theirs.

What a beautiful way to summarize the blending of their new life together. Just gorgeous. :-)

Oh this is exactly the kind of gem that I've been missing from you!  It reminds me of that orange porch light that you wrote about once that was about so much more than a porch light...and here we have a freckle that will be so much of Pam's undoing. The way you describe the moment when Pam reaches out to touch the shaving nick and his pulse quickens...good grief -- somehow the tiniest little thimbleful of sexy, packed a bigger wallop then the bucketfuls that we all sometimes write about (sometimes necessary). Can't wait for more. :-)

Author's Response: Aw, you're too sweet. But, while it's true that my stories tend to obsess on small details, alas, I can't take credit for the porch light. I do remember that fic and it was a good one, but I can't place the author (nomadshan, maybe?) No matter...love what you said about a thimbleful of sexy packing a wallop. After all, lets face it, J/P weren't exactly at the bucket stage in S1 ;-)Thanks as always, my friend - always a thrill to hear from you!

Wow...I felt like I couldn't log in quickly enough to review this! SEXY, SEXY, SEXY.  Goodness, you know how to make a mundane Saturday afternoon lawn mowing session into quite the seductive setting. I love how you created such stillness with Pam watching him from behind the glass...honestly, I think I felt my OWN heart rev up during that section.  I think I speak for everyone when I say, I can't wait for Pam to get to a chance to not just look, but touch as well. :-)

Author's Response: Who knew Jim behind an old push mower would strike such a chord? And yes, exactly - I wanted her to have a sort of suspended voyeuristic moment, secretly watching him. Don't worry, sister...she'll get her paws on him yet. But not in S3, cause, well - oh, ask GD why the hell not. Thanks, as always, LoveFool!

Ugh...Karen. YES, he's quirky alright Karen? jeez....sorry -- what was I going to say? Oh yes -- how painful! But totally, totally worth it, knowing what's coming next.  This was such a believable depiction of how Pam's love for Jim may have manifested in her longing for that lovely freckle at his jaw.  I particularly loved the way you described how she could tell when he was tired, wearing a shirt that fit vs. too big, etc.  Just lovely.  Bring on season 4 and 5, baby!  Let the games begin!

Author's Response: S3 was kind of like a toothache. I mean, in retrospect it was critical, but man, did it feel good when it ended. Glad you thought this was believable. And yeah, I think it's kind of fitting that she noticed/loved the simplest, most basic things about him. Ah well....thanks again, my friend!

It's as if some impossible notion, a crazy doodle she drew, has come to life.

Oh how much do I love this? What a great line.  I loved the theme here of constellation and the lines being drawn between them...this was really beautiful and extremely sexy at the same time.  Can't wait for the next chapter, but will be sorry to see it end!

Author's Response: Actually, tell you a secret: when I wrote that line, I kind of thought of my old fic, Map of the World, where she draws terrible doodles about the distance between them...so this was sort of the inverse of that. In my head, anyway, lol. Glad you picked it out! Thanks again, LoveFool!!

Thank you so much for this little gem of a story, and for this last part especially.  I love "night before the wedding" glimpses, and this surely was one of the best I've read.  Your banter was spot on, as was the moments of just sweet sincerity between them.  Thanks again, Colette.

Author's Response: Aw, sorry you're having such a rough time, LF...really sucks. And glad this could cheer you up a bit. Thanks so much - your seal of approval for dialogue always means a lot!
