Ahh, this was all so lovely!! The wishing rocks thing is cute enough by itself, but bringing it in as a way for Pam to reassure Cece is just gorgeous, and the way you’ve written them here is so sweet (I also loved Cece’s ‘sorry you had to have Phil too’, lol).

I really like the idea of Jim grabbing the rocks last minute after he panicked about the watch, and Pam treasuring them anyway - ‘she turned one over in her hand a few times, remembering the look on Jim's face as he had opened her gift for him. The way he smiled. The way he made a bag of rocks feel like a bag of diamonds’ is so, so good.

I loved all the insights into how she’s used them over the years through her relationship with him - the Merger one in particular really stung. And the ending, with Jim asking her why she kept them all these years, is just perfection. Basically, this is everything and more that I could have wanted from the reference in that deleted scene! 😍

Summary:

An imagining of Jim and Pam's sexual explorations as they begin their relationship.

Hee, I love this as a reason why Pam might have downloaded that celebrity sex tape! But also, to echo a lot of reviews here: wow. That was something.

I really like the way you’ve made this so them even with all the smut, and how you’ve written the two of them finally really able to just enjoy each other (it’s very joyous smut, if that’s a thing, and I love it). Also this line midway through was perfect: ‘Wow, she thinks in sudden realisation, sex with Jim.’

This was so good!!

Author's Response: Thank you! I took pains to try to get the characterisation right, so I’m glad it comes across. Joyous smut is a great descriptor, I guess I just want them to be happy and in love always. a86;a039;

Your drunk Pam is spot on, and very funny. The smut in this is amazing, again, and I’m not sure how you made a scene that ended in Pam throwing up quite so hot and adorable but…it was very, very good. (Jim’s ‘well that was flattering’ also made me lol). Handsy Pan in the bar was a lot of fun, especially Jim trying to fend her off under the table, and there are some really great lines in this: ‘and that brings back another memory of a night like this, of Pam drunk against his lips for a brief second, of “Second drink!”, and his stomach warms’ and ‘getting her arms through is like threading a needle with cooked spaghetti’ are I think two of my favourite. And then the ending with Jim taking care of her is so sweet. I loved this!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, what a lovely, thoughtful review! I watched ‘The Dundies’ to refresh my drunk!Pam memory and she’s a hilarious drunk, so I really wanted that humor to come through. So glad you liked it.

Summary:

Somewhat canon-complicit? 6 or 7 short blurbs of the moments where Jim had butterflies while with Pam. Pure fluff, I apologize!

These were all beautiful 😍 I love this look into all the big moments in their relationship, and the way you’ve written Jim’s sheer giddiness at being with her is lovely. This line especially is just adorable:

‘That fuzzy feeling growing the rest of their night spent together, in their own, little almost-Halpert family bubble.’

And I love the glimpse into Phil’s birth and how that compared with Cece, and the background behind their names! (Also: yes please to PJ Halpert). This was so great!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!!

That line was so much fun to write, and I'm so happy you like it!

It will forever upset me that we didn't get any information on Phillip's birth other than a blog post and "oh hey! Pam's on maternity leave!" Plus, Phillip in-canon has no middle name. Why?!

It should be PJ.

Thank you again!

I loved this! I have to admit Erin is not usually my favourite character, but I think you’ve leaned in to the more likeable aspects of her personality here: I love the idea of her being randomly perceptive on this (and the way you’ve written her and Pete is very, very cute). I’d never thought about the parallels with the Andy/Erin storyline for Jim and Pam - it’s brilliant! I greatly enjoyed Erin saying all of that to Andy anyway, but it being a catalyst for Jim is just the icing on the cake. (Also, this is some great Nellie - I feel like we don’t get enough of her). This was so good!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  Yeah, I get why some are not the biggest fan of Erin, she’s definitely not perfect.  I just have a soft spot for lovably naïve characters.  And yeah, I love her and Pete, they always clicked better to me then Andy/Erin; I felt they worked best as best friends if anything.

I think the parallels were my favorite part, and I’m glad you think so, too!  There was no real cathartic moment for Andy so I was more than happy to pen the come to Jesus moment he needed.  Jim getting the same smack in the face was more than necessary after everything, and I felt the crap that Andy pulled would be a good wake-up call.

I like Nellie as well!  I just wish the show executed her introduction and integration into the show’s cast better.

Thanks for the review!

Hee, this is such a great prompt. And this was a brilliant version of Jim meeting Pam! Michael hiring Jim on the spot is exactly how I imagined Michael hiring Jim, and I greatly enjoyed the bunny hopping and Cinnamon Toast Crunch out of a mint chocolate chip carton. And corporate banning Michael’s hazing, lol. I also really liked the little notes of young!Jim still living with his parents and wearing his dad’s suits, and his initial nervousness about working out how the office works (which makes Dwight jumping down his throat even worse, and the Jim needing to take him down a peg even more justified). Jim winding him up with the sidekicks was also brilliant (I think Dwight being the Luigi to Michael’s Mario was my favourite).

Jim and Pam are so adorable here - the matching outfits and the hair clip chat, the umbrella sharing, and the way you’ve written them sparking off each other right from the start 😍 I also really like how you made their Cugino’s date happen, it feels very organic (and solves a minor point of show inconsistency for me, which is how the Jim who advises Michael and Kevin to take it slow is also the Jim who asked Pam out within his first week of knowing her). And then his reaction to Roy is just…ouch. As is him thinking that he needs to get out while he can. This bit in particular is v painful:

‘He was tall, big, and blandly handsome. Pam smiled when she saw him, and Jim felt his heart free fall into his stomach. Dear lord, is that her fiancé? Please don’t be him, please don’t be him.’

The little note of forced optimism at the end is also very Jim. This was so, so great!

Summary: Kelly talks a lot, so she’s learned to just tune herself out. Jim and Pam… have a different strategy.

Hehe, this was hilarious. And amazing. I was excited as soon as I saw Kelly Kapoor Story Hour, tbh. I’ve seen Grey’s Anatomy (well, up until McDreamy died) so can’t give a view on your question at the end - but your Greys Anatomy re-told through Kelly is so, so perfect. I greatly enjoyed her views on it, and her various comparisons with her relationship with Ryan. Because obviously. And Jim being Team George! Genius. Also this entire exchange:

JIM (scrambling):
But maybe the customers could be cute? Like Denny, but instead of heart problems, he has… paper delivery problems?

Weak. But it really doesn’t take much, does it?

KELLY:
(You poor naïve soul:) You’re sweet, Jim, but there is no way customers could ever be as interesting as patients, and they’re never as cute. Last week I tried to convince Ryan that this one customer of Stanley’s was, like, a retired model, but Ryan just said…

Jim trying with Denny and paper delivery problems just really cracked me up. I can totally buy this as Jim and Pam’s tactics with Kelly, and I love that they have a new five minute rule. And their silent conversation throughout Kelly’s monologue is adorable. And LOL at it backfiring on Pam at the end - you’ve captured the excruciation of Kelly’s rambling about Ryan, and Pam just desperate to get out, so well. Also: Ryan as Master of the Universe and Kelly trying to work out the ‘chillest, coolest, low-maintenance’ thing to do…I’m dying.

Your Kelly voice is perfection, and I’m still in awe about your ability to capture all of this and make it so funny with a few perfectly-written stage directions. Also, the network note and Mindy response at the end might be one of my new favourites.

Author's Response: I have a fugitive affection for Kelly that I think stems largely from how she's used in fanfic, but she is undoubtedly a really fun character to play with. Really distinctive, but also multi-faceted and maybe has a lot more going on in her head than she ever lets us see. (I tried to drop a mild hint in here that she knows full well that Pam wants to leave in the second half). This one was really enjoyable to write. And Kelly would have absolutely dug early Grey's. (I mean, obviously Jim is on Team George, and obviously Pam sees *nothing of importance in that whatsoever*. Those kids.)

I like to think of Pam and Jim as making Kelly work for them... and their ability to communicate non-verbally (at least about things other than their own feelings) would definitely come in handy here.

I've said it elsewhere, but finding Kelly's voice was disturbingly easy for me. I'm concerned I've gone full Mindy.

I've got to be honest, this fic may have remained in the drafts forever if it had not been for the network notes and Mindy's response. That was the line I felt like I needed people to read.

Thanks as always for taking the time to read and review!

Oh man, I rewatched Love Actually the other day and I think Jack and Judy are actually my favourite couple in it, their scenes are so sweet and funny - so I love, love, love this idea! Especially with the Martin Freeman connection! Genius.

Michael filming a porno with Jan, with Dwight as his assistant, a creepy Creed and a Kevin who can’t stop giggling - plus all the use of the actual Office filming crew etc - is just so brilliant here. I’ve basically devoured all twelve chapters, oops, but I love the way you’ve woven in moments from the show (having them act out actual Jam scenes that turn into badly-written Michal porn is both fantastic and hilarious), and I really adore the mix of awkwardness and hotness that you’ve written between them in these scenes, and how sweet Jim is.

And then a Pam who wakes up to Roy and gets herself out of that relationship - yes please! I particularly enjoyed her realisations over the past couple of chapters about all the small ways she’s held herself back/been stuck in a rut, and the way you’ve written her progressing past those is so great to see.

I’m loving all of this - can’t wait to read more!

Author's Response:

Thank you SO SO much for your review! Glad you like the idea so much! I can see so many similarities between Jack and Judy and Jim and Pam, so I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

I’m really happy all the canon elements are coming across so well too!

There will be more to come don’t worry!

This was a hugely enjoyable take on their mini golf date. I love Pam kicking his ass, and the twist on the classic showing your date how to play golf (‘holding it firmly in both hands’, lol), plus Jim cheating throughout. And the little moments of attraction between them - I really enjoyed Jim’s t-shirt moment both making Pam flustered and making her laugh when he gets stuck: it feels very them. And their adorably awkward conversation about their work and seeing more of each other, with the sweetness of Pam telling Jim he’s the only one that makes her feel ok about it - it’s so cute and Jammy, and so much fun to read. And then the dildo prank!! I love it.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!! So happy you enjoyed it. I’m so glad this prank has been so well received 🤣

Oops, I didn’t realise how behind on this I’d got - but v excited that that meant I had 3 chapters to read! This continues to just be a delight. I loved the little peek into Jim’s friendship with Mark (the mix of Mark’s excitement about the porn while also encouraging Jim to be honest felt v realistic - and ‘ixnay on Porno Pam’ might be one of my new favourite lines), and Pam’s with Penny and Isabel, where I really appreciated Pam not actually needing to wallow, and Isabel recognising that. Also, I think this might be the best working in of the jinx scene that I’ve ever seen, hehe - so awkward, and so funny. Jim using it to fake a climax, and Michael loving the improvisation, is just genius. And then David Wallace! And Suck It! Amazing. I always love some David: and I love him offering Jim a job here. But also the tension that that potentially brings to him and Pam…very interested to see what this ends up meaning for them. I’m really glad Pam actually made the first move on the Friday date though! Can’t wait for the next chapter :)

Author's Response: So happy you’re enjoying this so much! Thanks for the comment about the jinx scene, it’s made my day! Lots more on the way don’t worry :) thanks for the review!

I’m loving this so much! This party is such a brilliant recipe for disaster, and the way you’ve written the awkwardness and each of Jim, Karen and Pam’s inner monologues is hilarious. My particular favourites are Jim’s ‘see that big wooden horse our there? Let’s haul it in - level bad’, and his whole list about Karen’s motivations - but I also love the levels of denial from both Karen (ignoring her sister on Jim is just perfect and: yes, exactly, Sofia) and the sheer effort that Pam’s putting in to trying to appreciate Roy making an effort, while simultaneously resenting him…it’s all so good. And the additions of a wasted Kelly and a sulky Ryan after Karen’s turned him down (I’m so sad we never got to actually see this on the show), plus Andy and his ridiculous party games, are just the cherry on top. I can’t wait to read more!

This was so lovely! I’d be very up for it continuing, although it’s also a beautiful one-shot if not. I love the way you’ve captured the physical tension between them, building up to Jim stepping into the water with her: it feels like a really natural progression for how that conversation might have gone, and their chemistry is wonderful. And the kiss is so, so good - as is all their dialogue, I especially love Jim’s ‘Because that was the best part, Pam. Every time’. Ahh. The imagery in this is also gorgeous - I really like the idea of Pam half hoping the lake freezes over so that she can run away, and the ‘A laugh bubbles from her mouth, lighter than the air around them’ line. This was such a brilliant first story!

I loved this! A Jim and Pam that get together pre-series, without all the angst (ok, with less of the angst / hurt feelings) is such a brilliant idea. I really enjoyed how organically you worked in them having a mutual friend that they didn’t know about, and my heart was beating along with Pam’s once I realised Jim might be about to show up - this was so great. Also, lol at him watching The Grinch on mute by himself (and in fact, most of Larissa’s comments about him). And them sneaking off to play board games together is so perfect. I love the way you’ve written Pam’s slow-burning reactions to him as she gets more and more drawn in, and the hand-holding in the dark, and Pam kissing him…just gorgeous.

And then this line:

He grins, “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to hear that.”

In fact, that entire exchange, and the way you’ve remixed canon lines but made it that bit less angsty because they don’t have all of season 2 behind them, is so perfect. And then the flash forward to a year later with the same party is an amazing ending. This was so lovely!

Ah, this was such a lovely Christmas treat to read! 😍 I also actually really like the idea that if Jim hadn’t had that last conversation with Pam in Benihana Christmas, he might have got there a bit quicker with Karen (which was sort of where I thought he was heading after the whole rebound conversation with Michael…) It’s really neat. But: there are so many things to love in this! The way you’ve written Pam’s pining and heartbreak, the return of Jim who’d do anything for her (I especially liked him admitting he was being an asshole about her present, because: YES), and his immediate concern for her and attempts to lift her mood…I think I might struggle to re-watch Benihana Christmas for a while with this dreamy Jim in mind. I also love Penny’s appearance, and was lol’ing at her attempts to play along with the Georgia lie, and the fact that Jim saw through it instantly. And then Jim coming back at the end!! Ahhh. This was all so, so good.

Aw, this was such a sweet one-shot. I love Betsy immediately looking after Pam and inviting her over, and all of Pam’s scenes with the Halperts are so lovely to read 😍 Creed’s opening message (and his forgetting who Dwight is) is hilariously Creed, and then Michael and his ‘Ry-guy’ and the invite to a real party really cracked me up (in fact, there are so many brilliant Michael-isms in this). I also love the inclusion of Vanessa! And then Jim eventually coming home is just the perfect moment between them. Also, this line on the steam: ‘“Don’t worry Beesly,” he breathed into her ear which sent shivers down her shoulder and arm. “I know exactly what it means to have a silent night.”’ Perfection!

Author's Response: Thank you. In this fic universe it's not the first time Pam's been welcomed by the Halpert family and I saw no need to change that here. Glad you enjoyed everything with Creed and Michael. That can be an interesting headspace to get into. I'm a sucker for a happy ending, especially around Christmas so we get a nice cliché reunion. Lots of people liked the silent night line, sometimes its what's not said that has the biggest impact. Thanks for reviewing and Merry Christmas!

I’m so happy about more Jam from It Had To Be You! And this is so lovely, and Christmassy (I know I’m late, but shh). The call-backs to the pyjamas and the NYE dress are gorgeous, and I love the idea of them sneaking off to have a snow day together, and Jim doing all the cheesy Christmas stuff that she wanted: it feels so well-deserved and fun after all the pain from their previous Christmases. Having said that, I’m also a very big fan of the everything-goes-wrong but Jim and Pam are there for each other: and the Christmas with both sets of parents AND Michael & Holly AND Kelly & Erin is just the perfect recipe for disaster - the escalating terrible-ness is brilliant and very funny. Even if I really felt for Pam throughout. I really liked the note of Pam’s dad not actually being very impressed with Jim, and the emergence of flustered/slightly less smooth Jim, who I always love, as a result. But it then actually being more about Pam’s parents marriage, and Jim taking her dad onto the roof to talk about it, is so so great. This was just fantastic from start to finish! And the perfect mix of steam, fluffiness, and Jim standing up for / comforting Pam - basically everything you could ask for (2 weeks after) Christmas.

PS I’m not good enough at wrapping to be able to follow Pam’s instructions on this three pieces of tape business, but…I am v impressed that you worked in an explanation of it.

I'm so glad you were able to check it out! Glad you liked it, thanks so much!

Aw, this was lovely! The way you’ve written Pam’s enthusiasm about Christmas and Jim’s delight in going along with it just because it makes her happy is just ridiculously sweet 😍 This is the Christmas we should’ve got in season 4. And then lumberjack Jim!! Thank you for this. I especially enjoyed him having to stop a frisky Pam to make sure his romantic plan could be properly carried out: very funny, and very Jim. (“Beesly! Bad girl! Enough!” cracked me up). Their banter throughout is v cute - them making up dramatic backstories for all the people in the infomercials is also wonderfully them - and I love the idea of Jim taking her stargazing. And the steam with the Christmas tree!! This was just perfect.

Author's Response: Thank you! I wanted to not rush the steamy bit in the middle too much, but equally, wanted it to be more of an allusion rather than full on graphic (happy to leave that to the expert writers in that field). It's so fun writing them in season 4 as it's all so fresh and new and they've just got what they both wanted. Really glad you enjoyed it.

Summary: Christmas is a special time of caring. And for Pam, the ways of love are about to be made clear. Or: Jim has indefensible taste in music, and the butterfly effect sends a tornado through Season 2.

Submitted for the 2021 Secret Santa Fic exchange, and don't pay attention to the date, it was posted before midnight EST on New Year's Eve, I made my deadline, shut it.

I’m slightly belatedly catching up with the Christmas fics (it’s basically still Christmas if I’ve failed to take my tree down, right?) - but I’m very excited about this. Especially the tracking all the way from Jim’s BBQ, this had never occurred to me. I love the idea of Pam finding out about Jim being her secret Santa, and the way you’ve written her giddiness is very, very cute. And Jim/Kevin dueting to Bon Jovi! I need this in my life. (Also: I was trying to work out if timing-wise Kelly’s solo would’ve been stolen from Mean Girls, or if she would’ve come up with it all by herself…and I’m not sure which one I love more). I also just loved all the little notes of Pam noticing and appreciating (/falling more in love with) everything Jim does: it fits so well with how they were with each other in that episode, and her face when she was watching him do the karaoke. And LOL at the Creed. I could totally see Jim owning this CD, buried under all his cooler albums. Can’t wait for more!!

Author's Response: As far as I'm concerned, it's Christmas until we start nominating things for the Dundies, so you've got some time.

I give full credit to whoever wrote the ingredients for that one, but it does fit well with my general sense of plausible Office AUs/plausible Office AUs that haven't been written 30 million times, which usually build off of small changes in the moment leading to big changes over time. And the giddy version of in-denial Pam is a lot of fun to write! She just so badly NEEDS this.

Hmmm. It seems plausible Kelly's solo was stolen from Mean Girls timing-wise, although it wasn't what I was thinking... so let's say that's actually Kelly's long-standing Christmas karaoke song, and she's claimed for years that Mean Girls stole it from HER.

That Pam face! She is the heart-eyes emoji personified. (Email Surveillance is one of my all-time favorites.)

Look, we've all dabbled in the dark arts from time to time... even Jim.

Hoping to have some more for you soon!

This was so lovely from start to finish. I love the idea of them meeting as strangers in the airport, and you've taken a cute rom com trope and made it so perfect and Jam-y. I really like the way you've written their meeting making them realise what each of their own relationships were lacking (it's nice for it to happen in parallel rather than the show's bad timing with Roy and Karen). And then Jim finding Pam in the coffee shop!! Kelly remembering them at the end is just the icing on the cake. This was so good!

Summary: According to Michael Stipe, the end is near. According to Jim, Dwight is paying the price for antagonizing his co-workers. According to Pam, it’s just nice things are back to normal.

Hehe, I now definitely have this song in my head. I loved the whole office coming together to prank Dwight for their own individual reasons (also the little glimmer of Dwight/Ryan hatred, which I don't think we got enough of on the show, and because of course Dwight is still humming the fire song) - as always, nearly every line in this cracked me up. Especially Creed at the end. And it had just the right amount of post Conflict Resolution Jam angst, plus Pam's last line and 'nothing ever changes round here' - ouch. I feel like I would've gone as far as dropping the telekinesis gag for this. So, so good!

Author's Response: Yeah, this one mainly got done *because* the song kept popping back into my head, truth be told.

Dwight really is a menace. You can really see why everyone else puts up with Jim's nonsense if that's the alternative.

Thank you so much! Was challenging trying to find the right blend of comedy and pathos here... tough needle to thread, I'm really glad it worked for you!

Appreciate you taking the time to read and review... now go back to writing! You've got AOTM responsibilities, you know...

Just catching up on this fic - it is delightful from start to finish 😍 I love the sweet little looks into Jim and Pam in the morning, and Jim’s excitement about the pranks (also real kudos for coming up with so many!) I think the Jim-gerbread men has been my favourite so far, but I love Pam pranking Jim in this one so much. Can’t wait for more!

Author's Response:

Oh thank you so much!! I am wondering why I’ve done this to myself, but the end is in sight haha!

Glad you’re enjoying them though!!

Thanks so much for the review!!

Ah, this was such a lovely start. I think this episode is one of my favourites in season 3 because you can see the old Jim finally starting to to resurface - you’ve captured that so well here 😍 Them going for a coffee afterwards is just such a sweet continuation of the Dwight prank - and I love the idea of a Pam who knows she wants to get Jim back. Can’t wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Yeah, there was a period there in S3 where Jim started to look and act normal. Then we got to Phyllis' wedding and it went downhill for awhile. We'll see if a bit more courage shifts things to a different path this time around. Glad yo have you here. Thanks for the review.

Summary:

Pam has always wanted to spend Chanukah somewhere warm.

So it's a good thing then that Roy just bought two tickets to sunny California!

Or, as it happens, not.

I'm so excited about this. Roy failing to notice Pam is Jewish is about as classically Roy as buying tickets for him and Kenny and not understanding why Pam might have a problem with it. There are so many brilliant moments in this chapter - Dwight's questionable hanukkia, Michael and his seven days of Chanuchristmakkah Secret Maccabees (I love him and Dwight instantly going so wildly overboard), and Angela's rage - this is all so great. Poor Pam. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you! And yeah, that's about as bad as it can get, Roywise. I'm glad you're enjoying the office shenanigans! I promise we'll come back there (though the next chapters are outside the office).
