author of the month March 2021

Found The Office summer '06. Immediately fell in love with JAM. Obsessed ever since.

I no longer work as a part-time receptionist, which is sort of sad because I feel less connected to Pam (just kidding!).  I'm almost finished getting my Masters in literacy and I'm a first year high school teacher! So basically I have nothing resembling free time or... sanity.

I can't believe I took so long to read this chapter. You might have guessed that I'm a bit more sympathetic to Karen than the average Jammer, so of course I LOVE what you've done with her here. I mean, right from the point when she says, “Let’s try the truth for a change Jim.” and he says,  "but in the end what you have to know is…… I didn’t mean to hurt you." I mean, wow. That is just a perfect start to this falling out. And your middle and end are perfect too.

Because honestly, if I was Karen, I'd feel just as you depicted her here. Shocked, because he seemed like such a great guy. Angry, because he led her on, whether he meant to or not.

There is too much awesome in this chapter for me to detail, but suffice it to say it's perfect. On to ch 8!

Author's Response: I really was happy with the way this came out, both 7 and 8, more than other things i've written.  I thought it was very honest.  And I've said it before but, I'm a wee little bit hacked off with Jim right now.  So... I let Karen say all the things I wish I could.  It made me feel better, and her too I hope :-)

SO GOOD.

Okay, “Rumble in the Dunder” is hilarious. And so michael.

she could see his face all day long.  She watched as the bruises and cuts healed up, while they simultaneously worked on repairing their broken friendship.

Just beautiful. I love the way you wrote it and the suggestion of slow healing. I also love that they're taking it slow in this. Very realistic.

He leaned into her and responded, “What kind of rematch you have in mind Beesly?”

Um, fantastic. I would have pulled him across the desk, absolutely.

And let’s face it, how well do we know our co-workers? Have you ever seen Creed do anything?”

Quite possibly my favorite part of this chapter. So very Dwight and fantastic use of a Creed mention.

And the ending?! Jeeze! I can't wait for ch9!!!

Author's Response:

You made my whole day with such big reviews.  I love hearing what things worked for people, to see if it is the same things I liked or different.  I've decided that ensemble pieces are my favorite right now.  Even though it has been a bad year for JAM, it has been a great year for Dwangela.  and don't get me started about creed, seriously isn't he the best character.  He is never on screen that I am not dying laughing.

I also think that at this point, Pam and Jim have alot of things to work on together, so I like the idea of them really starting over.  I'd like to go back a year in the show and redo.....  Thanks Shan for all the support!  You know I think your stories are the best!

“Course, Jim, you’re gonna have to come closer, if you recall this is sensitive information and the walls do have ears.”

GUH. So hot. I love flirty!Pam!

Jim stepped forward until he was standing right in front of Pam. He rested his fingertips on either side of her on his desk, trapping her; he would not let her go this time.

Seriously, this is one of the hottest images in the history of images. Fantastic.

“I’ve waited, wow, what feels like forever, to hear you say those words to me.  Pam, I definitely still love you, I don’t know how not to be in love with you.”

This struck me as such a Jim way to say this. I could jsut see him saying every word of it. I think it's challenging to write these big emotional "I love you" moments, and you did a great job here.

And the “Your place or mine?” moment? PRICELESS. And I loooove what you've done with the ending. This part:

“We could leave a Staples bag on Creed’s desk Monday morning.”

Made me laugh out loud. Seriously. I'm sort of sad to see this fic go! You better send me some stuff soon :)

Okay, seriously, awesome. Your Jan is so perfect. She would be constantly yelling at herself but then falling back into finding him adorable. Your title says it all. It's got to be that innate sweetness that keeps Jan coming back for more. That and he's really good at sex. Heh.

Also, the ending, perfect.

How is it that you keep getting exponentially more awesome with each new chapter? At a certain point the awesome has to hit it's peak, right?

This chapter was AMAZING. When she opened the door and Roy was there I almost screamed. And I flipping love that Jim didn't back down. This part:

Not a chance. How long had he wanted to do this?

Awesome. I haven't really read anything where Jim wants to fight Roy, but it rings very true.

Add to that the fact that the dialogue is funny and spot on, and you have yourself a heck of a lot of awesome.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhmazing.  This line here:

Made me smile this huge goofy grin, because I love imagining Jim saying this. I am completely enamoured with this fic. Thank you!

Author's Response: Hehehe, thanks Shan! And thank you so much for the reccomendation over at Twop!!! My story is over now...and it's up to you to have Jim get some hits in! :-)

Wow. This is really nice because it doesn't make their relationship a joke (although it can be very funny). It's a very honest look at Ryan's POV on the situation. I just loved it. And this line struck my as especially true:

He figured that she had been itching to say it since about day four, but had been holding out in hopes that he would beat her to the punch.

Oh jeeze. I don't even know what to say. I could quote my favorite parts but there are just too many. Your Dwight is so fantastically spot on it's scary. I absolutely love the idea that he really has noticed Jim and Pam's interactions (Hey, Angela did--Pam Pong), and that he would help Pam out like this. And the JAM? Top notch.

Author's Response:

Thanks!  I think I had to stretch into new writing territory taking on Dwight, so I'm so pleased you think  I worked it out. [/Randy Jackson]   (Sorry, too much American Idol already!!)  And you are right - Angel had Pam Pong, and you can't tell me she didn't tell Dwight about it.

That deleted scene from Cocktails really made me think that Angela and Oscar could have an actual friendship, and you showed perfectly how it could work. I love Angela's inner thoughts, I love that Kevin wound up with water on the front of his jacket, and I LOVE this line:

"She spent the day in a state of constant fear."

Wow. This is like an EPIC. I love it so very much, because Jim/Dwight interaction is the best part of the show.

You both showed such a fantastic progression in the... friendship?... of Jim and Dwight. Totally believable. I really felt for Dwight when his plans for Jim's visit to Schrute Farm didn't go as planned.

And oh my god! You're dialogue is unbelievable on target (funny, perfect) and the POV of both Jim and Dwight were equally amazing. I am so happy that you wrote this.

1) I adore Karen too, and I love that you didn't have her explode.

2) As much as I love a good JAM kiss, I can see your point

3) I feel like you have a baaaad experience with hangover jokes. (Did you have a happy childhood? Tell me about your father.)

4) Yeah Karen/Pam friendship!

I can see how you could have shortened Karen's dialogue a bit, but it wasn't ridiculously long or anything. I love this story just the way it is. The part where Pam realizes that Jim is holding the mug of hot cocoa? Priceless. (although I've had a bad tequila experience and if anyone approached me with hot chocolate the next morning, I would have... well, it would have been messy. Water only.)
