This is such a fun, cute idea, and really well-executed -- I love that your Devil and Angel aren't exactly the cliches you'd expect them to be, and can't wait to read more.

Author's Response: Yes, there is definite wiggle-room in the spheres that Devil and Angel make up. They can agree on things, and may surprise Pam in what they say or suggest. Thank you for the review.

I really like this story! It's so nice to read a story about a friend of Jim's who's actually interesting. And Ellie is fun and fascinating, and charming and odd enough to seem like she could actually hold Jim's interest as a friend.

Your vindictive Kelly is such a thing of beauty. I love her, and I want her to watch her rip Ryan to shreds. Her arc is so concise and eloquent, and I love that she understands exactly how to manipulate poor, unsuspecting (?) Karen. I love that Kelly knows it's wrong and kind of likes that and kind of doesn't; it's so nuanced and lovely. This story is arresting and deeply innovative. Well done.

This is a really well designed story. I like a lot of things about it -- I think you really capture Pam, and I love the line you have her walk between bitter and not bitter -- but the thing that stands out to my mind is the simplicity with which you treat past events, certain that your audience follow along. Phrases like "shed her skin on the beach" are just breathtaking with their simplicity and the volumes of information that they convey. I'm really impressed with how well you understand both your subject matter and your audience.

This is, um, something like my eighth time reading this, and I still find new things I like in it. "Being a coward does not make you special" finally hit, and I'm going to silk screen it on a tee-shirt.

I love the way you take the time to make even the characters secondary to your story ring true. Dwight's "Achtung," Phyllis's sad resignation, and Angela's bone-meanness were all note perfect.

And Jim's arc of lust and self-flagellation is very beautiful here. It's painful and so accurate and amazing.

Also, it was extremely hot. That almost goes without saying.
