A year or two before the cameras arrived, Michael takes the staff to the Poconos for a camaraderie event. Much unresolved sexual tension and angst ensues (uh, between Jim & Pam, not the entire staff).
GUH. Killing me in the way you do so well. I love, love, love that you went back to the Roy days. You bring the angst so well, and that was certainly an 'angst era.' So wonderful and looking forward to more.
Author's Response: I cannot tell you how much of a thrill it is to hear you say that you're glad I took it back to the Roy days! I'm a glutton for the angst - always have been - but given the semi-resolution we got with this year's finale, I see exploring the pre-camera days as something bittersweet. Really love having them in this other environment. It makes it all the more intimate(if that makes sense)and I can really see the surroundings as I read this. Wonderful job and looking forward to more!

Hey, thanks so much! The idea of them being away from the office for an extended period of time (i.e. a retreat like this) and that sort of throwing them into a completely different realm emotionally was the basic concept around which the rest of the story sort of evolved. (And that was, I'm sure, the most awkward sentence ever written.)

Using a U2 song I adore for the title of the chapter, and then punching me in the grief bone in said chapter? Bravo! Amazing work, as usual. I could just feel the sadness and frustration on both of their parts. I think I need a drink!

Isn't that song amazing? I've already used it for the title of a fic last fall; otherwise, it'd have been the title for this one as well! The next chapter will also take its title from a U2 song (as will the spinoff story, now that I'm thinking about it, hee). Bono's a freaking genius.

Yay! I'm repeating myself in these responses, I know, but honestly -- I was so worried people would read this ending and be kind of..."meh." It's a little anticlimactic, I suppose, but I was so taken with the notion of exploring how the events in this story could work with canon.

Terrorists invade Dunder Mifflin. Jim and Pam are the only hope for their officemates to get out alive. Close quarters in an airduct and looking death in the face give Jim and Pam the kick in the pants they need to get get together. Takes place after "Beach Games" and before "The Job". A/U.
What a fun premise and great start. Always fun to see Jim and Pam out of their natural element. Looking forward to more!
