I have to admit I have never seen the show, but I do know the premise. I think it will be interesting to see Pam in a life of "narcotics." I love Pam and Ryan interactions. I am also glad that there will be updates soon.

Author's Response: Thank you!! Yes, I'm going to try and update quickly/consistently, since it's mostly all written, I hope you enjoy it!

I love a good AU story and this one is starting off great. Even though the characters are out of the office, you have thus far stayed true to the DM personalities. Especially Dwight. I am looking forward to the other DM employees making appearances.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, all the characters definitely will make appearances sooner or later. I\'m glad you think the ones I introduced as of now fit well. Thanks again!

I am happy to see Michael make an appearance, and in true Michael form he is clueless. You have done a great job of incorporating all the characters and maintaining their personalities. Especially Ryan, "Don't interrupt"

Author's Response: LOL Thank you! I\'m glad you think their roles fit the setting. And I LOVE that \"Don\'t interrupt\" line (perfect for douchey Ryan), so I knew it had to be in there somewhere, hehe. Thanks again for the review!!

Nice chapter. I liked how you set up the relationship between Karen and Jim. And the introduction to DM was very clever.  I have enjoyed this story very much.

Author's Response: Thank you! So glad you liked it! Yeah it was great to be able to work in DM; it\'s a nice homage to TO in an AU. (That\'s a lot of abbreviations!) Thanks again!!

Finally catchin up... sorry for the delay ... I suck. Another sweet chapter. I think you did a great job of tying together their story.  As a Laker fan, I think a Lakers v. 76ers final is pure fiction. :)

Author's Response: Thank you!! I\'m glad you came back and finished it!! Yeah, I do realize the ending is pretty far fetched, but I think anything could happen with a good luck charm like Jim. ;) Thanks again!!

What a lovely start. I think you did a great job describing Pam's feelings for Jim at the beginning of their friendship especially this part:  It’s no wonder I became addicted to his relentless efforts to make me smile.

The word "addicted" definitely fits the Pam we saw. What I also liked is how I was able to follow the dialogue between the two of them. Many times, when I read a fanfic I cannot follow who is talking. Here, you have done a great job of weaving realistic conversation w/ character descriptions. I am looking forward to reading more.

Author's Response: Thanks Alamos! I appreciate all the nice remarks. And I\'m glad you liked that particular line, because...I almost cut it out. :D Thanks for reading and letting me know what you thought, I appreciate the feedback!

Summary: And she starts to think that maybe it’s just the distance.  Maybe he doesn’t want to propose with so many miles between them, and once that distance is closed, he’ll drop to one knee before she even unpacks.  Post "Goodbye, Toby"

Even though there was major angst in this story I think you still were able to portray a lot of of love between them. Pam's frustration and sadness w/ Jim is reasonable considering the circumstances.  I think you conveyed Pam's anticipation of a proposal so well... love this line:  her heart latched to her throat.

Author's Response: As much as I hope that this isn't the case for the S5 premiere, I'm glad you think I portrayed what *might* happen in a realistic way.  Thanks so much!

I think you have done a great job of describing Jim's roller coaster of emotions w/ Pam in Season 2.  It's so sad to him want so much more from her, only to have it crushed.

It is so great that this story is done.

Author's Response:

Hi Alamos!  Thank you.  I felt like I kind of needed to push Jim a little in this story because I wanted it to be plausible that he would leave so much earlier in S2 than he actually did.

And yes, this story is done and I should be updating daily for until it's all posted!  Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Very nice story. This chapter has just the right amount of sadness and hope. I like how even though Jim is leaving, his goodbye w/ Pam is filled w/ such love between them.

Author's Response: Alamos thank you so much!  I'm glad the goodbye scene worked for you.  I struggled with it because I didn't want it to be too heavy, but I knew that any goodbye between them would be at least a little emotional and tense so I was trying to find the right balance.  I'm glad that you saw the hope shining through too...never, ever, ever. give up ;)

Wow what a great chapter. I think you have given Jim an original voice in this story -- I love how Jim is full of love, sadnress and loneliness for Pam. What I think makes this story so great is that while Pam is "growing" in NYC, Jim is doing some soul searching as well w/ regards to his job at DM. And the reference to Neruda -- brilliant.  Greatest love poet ever.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review, Alamos. It seems to me that, if Pam is so far away, making big changes in her life, Jim\'s surely going to be thinking along the same lines, right?

What a sweet romantic, genuine and proposal. Simple and beautiful just like them.  I love this story because your choice of words gives the story a nice flow, the narrative is detailed and full of emotion.

And the fans... classic -- because let's face it Jim Halpert is pretty hot.

Author's Response: Thank you, Alamos. Jim Halpert is totally hot. Those 15-year-olds are far more self-possessed than I would be faced with all that hot.

I think in this chapter you have captured the true essence of Jim and his feelings of Pam and their life together in this line:  "I just want to take care of you. That makes me happy. It's enough for now."   I know that sometimes Jim is portrayed as someone who wants to do great things in his career, but maybe he just wants to work at DM, live his life w/ Pam and be happy. It's refreshing to read a story where Jim is content and DM (for now) at the same time excelling there. Wonderful story.

Every paaragraph is filled with descriptive and captiving words. You have made it easy for the reader to visualize exactly what is happening. Poor little Harold -- the description of him at the gym was heartbreaking. The back story of Jim was great. It fits exactly to the Jim we have seen.

What a wonderful sweet story. It's amazing how in one short story you were able to convey all of Pam's emotion: regret, sadnes, love and happiness.

And if that had ended like this we would have all been saved the agony of Season 3.

Author's Response:

Thanks, Alamos!  I'm glad you think I caught Pam's emotions there!  Her face when she saw Karen rubbing Jim's back earlier showed a lot of shock and grief and sudden realization of missed opportunity, I think, and I was trying to convey that with her thoughts.  I'm sure her mind the rest of the day was just a constant roil of grief and loss and "I'm too late, he's sleeping with her, why didn't he wait, why didn't I do something..."

So I can (just barely) see that she would have a serious wall up, just trying to get to her car and then home where she can curl into a ball all night and she might deflect his overture (and not recognize it as an overture.)  But I wish she'd done this instead.

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, Alamos! :)

I like the pace and style of this story. Just the right amount of angst and sarcasm. I especially like how even though Pam is sad about the impending wedding(?) she isn't all depressed about -- she is more pissed off than anything. I am not sure if this is the tone you are trying to set but if it is -- I like it. I like how even though Pam is pathetic (even in Toby's eyes) there is still a sense of stregnth to her.

Author's Response: Oh, wow! Thanks so much! Yes, I like to think that Pam dosn\'t waste her time feeling sorry for herself, and that she\'s just angry at everyone. And while she is a little more than pathetic (all of season 3 I was like, \"JUST SAY SOMTHING!\") I hope that the next chapter will definetly justify her position. For the sake of this story, Karen is a Bridezilla. ;D Thanks for your review, Alamos, it realy means a lot!

Reviewer: Alamos Signed

Nice job -- once again I am lovin' this new pissed off Pam.  Again I like the "harshness" and honesty of the story. Especially hat even though it's  filled w/ angst, you have not made Pam to be the victim.  And the addition of the Karen's "best friend" is an interesting dynamic. I guess Karen has her own Pam.  I think the best part for me was the paragraph that described Pam's revelation of how Jim felt when she was w/ Roy. Waiting to see who objected??? I have my guesses.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I\'m really trying to give all sides of the story so that no one will gang up on one character (except maybe Karen...), so it\'s so wonderful to hear that you recognize and appreciate that. Thanks for your review, Alamos!

First of all, yay, that you have completed this story. I think your approach to the tension in the car between Jim and Pam is original, thoughtful and carefully writtein. I love this line: touching, but not really holding, hers. It's so sweet and tender, so very Jim.

I especially that like the fact that you made them nervous around each other in the car. Because they just spent months not speaking, it seems natural that they would be in this state.

Author's Response: Yeah, I kind of wonder if they could even be this calm around one another. I\'m just assuming some air got cleared during dinner, but I\'m too much of a wuss to have written it. :) I\'m also trying to get across the fact that Jim is more of a wreck than Pam here, so he\'s going to be a whole heap of timid through this entire thing.

The dynamic of Drun!Jim and sober Pam is great, especially the conversation about their exes. Also, the confidence that Pam has when she kisses Pam is refreshing to see. She knows that he is not a bad kisser and she wants to prove it to him. Drunk!Jim is of course a great kisser.

Author's Response: Eh, sounds to me like Drunk!Jim is a pretty messy kisser, but Pam\'s just so darn *glad* to be there that it doesn\'t matter. Thanks for the review, Alamos.

Ahh... their first movie. This must be Pam's personal hell not being able to touch Jim, even though he is thisclose to her at work. And even though she is within her right to touch them. The short little discussion about where they are going to sit at the movie theatre, was very sweet. I like how they are dealing with finding out new things about each other.

Reviewer: Alamos Signed

Very sweet chapter. I liked how they were able to talk about Casino Night without getting "all dramatic" about it, that instead their conversation was centered around the kiss and not so much the confession and the heartbreak after.

Author's Response: The conversation about what happened before/after they kissed would be a lot harder to have, I think. Much more fun to talk about the physical bits, right?

Reviewer: Alamos Signed
Date: July 23, 2008 Title: Chapter 7: Wednesday

Very clever -- the shredding of the Jim and Karen's love contract. Very symbolic gesture.  Michael's appearance in the story was typical Michael: illogical and irrational. Pam's continued desire to further her physical relationship w/ Jim was handled w/ honesty and sensitivity.
