Ha! I love your last crossed out line! Nice job on Karen, making her the one who is really making more of an effort, but not too much more (he did brush his teeth after all).

They have so much potential, but it is built on sand. Poor Karen. Who wouldn't fall for Jim Halpert? Can't blame her for letting herself believe that contentment = happiness. Too bad she's about to be burned like the toast.

Couldn't help but get that last bit in there, could you?
Because, yes, dammit, sometimes you just want Jim to be happy!! No matter who it is...(ME!!!!...*ehm* I mean, Pam!)
I liked this. Like, a lot.
Thanks.
cheers.

OH GOSH. I love love love reading your version of happy Jim/Karen. This felt so lived in and real and happy, and then with the quick punch to the gut at the end...so good.
I feel like this has to be what Karen's feeling. On the surface, she feels it's good and is trying to convince herself that it is good. But underneath, she's got to have the fear that their relationship won't go anywhere.

Its sweet. Karen is growing on me.
Whats odd is that I can't see Jim and Karen like kissing or anything. But, I really can't even picture Jim and Pam doing it.. I can read it, but mostly the pictures don't come. hum...
Oh well.
Karen is growing on me *sigh*

Yup, I like these characters happy together. This conveys that well - and I like how you've juxtaposed early-relationship-conscientiousness with early-relationship-cluelessness.
The way Karen's been presented so far on the show, she seems such the wiser choice for Jim. Maybe she is - maybe if he chooses Pam, he'll find that road more difficult than he expected. It'll be interesting to see if the writers give Karen a fatal flaw - so far she doesn't seem to have one, other than that she has no history in Scranton.
Blah, blah, blah.
Great fic!

I felt really guilty about liking this--actually felt like I was cheating on JAM!--then I got to the last line, and felt better. ^_^ Beautiful. It takes a lot for me to like a Jim/Karen fic!

Perfectly them, as I would expect from you, and the ending is just completely killer and almost like it's showing that Karen knows what's going to happen but she's deluding herself into believing what they have is everything and it's going to stay that way. Love the lines about the orange juice and the comics -- even with so few spoken lines, you always manage to characterize Jim wonderfully.
Really. This is lovely.
