I really, really like this. A lot.
This was my favorite part:
<i>And as he glides his hands over an old, stained T-shirt, he suddenly remembers what it’s like to love something because it’s flawed, because it’s flawed and yet still offers happiness that is completely, overwhelmingly perfect.</i>
Beautiful.
One question, though... the last line, "She hates him now"... who hates him? Karen because he's fallen for Pam again? I think that's it because it makes sense with the structure of the story-- the one-liners were what Karen likes and doesn't... but at first I thought you meant Pam as the "she" in the last line... because it's not clear if Jim is still with Karen even though he has feelings for Pam still or not...

My intent was for the line to be vague. We don't know whether Jim is relating a fact or his interpretation of "her" feelings. I think most would assume it's Karen he's referring to, but it is DEFINITELY open to your interpretation. When I wrote it, I imagined it was Karen, and that one line signified that maybe he broke things off with her. Or maybe he'd already gotten back with Pam. Or neither.

So I guess the real question is, "Who do YOU think it is, and what do you think that means?"

Good job so far. I love the idea that Jim doesn't know ywt about Pam not getting masrried, and I love that he has so many unsent e-mails to her on his computer.

Just a bit of constructive crticism... I think your retelling of the confession scene in "Casino Night" is good, but it's almost like a general retelling of what we saw. I was tempted to just skip over it because I didn't feel like it was anything new. You had a little bit of insight into their thoughts, but I would suggest, if you ever edit this, maybe making that part shorter, or cutting out the dialogue and summarizing it, maybe. Just a suggestion.

Looking forward to more.

Wow, this is really interesting. I never would have thought of Pam and Ryan, but this makes a lot of sense here. She feels hopeless and confused about what's going to happen with Jim and what she didn't tell him and she finds comfort , but in sort of a punishing-herself sort of way (with her not taking her barrette out and letting it cut into her head until it bled) with Ryan. It's a far-fetched situation, but the characters seemed in-character. So, props for this.
