I kinda have to say that I agree with your husband; I hated Pam a little bit at the end of Business Trip.  Why go through all of that just to throw it all away, right?

But I really like your explanation of her motivations.  Sometimes we're not cut out for the things we dream about, and although that may not be very dramatic or the stuff of poignant sitcom television, it is very realistic, and one of the best parts about the whole Jim/Pam thing is that it is very realistic.  So yeah, I'm willing to buy this (bittersweet) happy ending for this part of their story.  They always have each other and they do the best they can with what life thorws at them, and that's about as romantic as you can get in life...

 Nice work.

Author's Response: Thanks so much - this means a lot, especially knowing that initially you didn\'t feel this way. She did give up after failing, but I don\'t think it means she isn\'t still strong, and can\'t still find success artistically. We\'ll just have to see...

This is awesome!  I love the countdowns, and I can feel their happiness (and nerves) throughout the story.  Brilliant title too.  Thanks so much for this.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I\'m really glad you liked it. This seemed like such a small yet pivotal point for them, and I can imagine that they\'d both be very nervous about it. And the title is my nerd indulgence! :)

I loved this chapter.

It felt so normal,  a fight that starts out as something stupid and only gets out of control because of some stupid hormones or a bad day and nobody really meant anything and you say what will hurt the most because you're angry and we've all done that so many times that everyone understands and it's the truth.

And I'm totally with you.  I get annoyed when Pam is portrayed as the All American Sweetheart who everyone falls instantly in love with and Jim is the perfect sex god who isn't afraid to cry.  The reason this pairing works so well is because they're authentic  and "real" and this chapter portrays that.

Nicely done.  Looking forward to the next one.

Author's Response: Thank you, Pigeon! I tried to keep it real, as the kids say. It does seem that so often the big fights are started by something so small. I\'m not a fan of super perfect/super amazing!Jim and Pam, because while they\'re cute and have a great dynamic, they\'re just two characters that have always been very real. Thanks a lot for your kind words. :)

A) If it were possible to die of double entendre, Jim would be on his way to the grave. I adore this line!

B.)  I'm sorry to see this story end.  It seems like a perfect point to take it AU and have Jim and Pam come to some sexy, angsty revelations about each other.  If you chose not to let it fall back into canon but take it in a different direction, I'm sure you would be able to pull it off admirably.

I absolutely adore you!

This story was amazing.  I don't think I'll ever get tired of "first date fic", but this has to be one of the best I've ever read.  You really got the mood right, the characters were spot on, and I think "He's kissing her like he's got to take extra, save some for later, and stop doing it immediately" is one of the best lines ever.

Thanks for this; it was a very enjoyable read.

Author's Response: Hey pigeon - It is amazing to me how many times we can, individually and collectively, keep going back to the \'first date\' well and keep finding interesting, new, and meaningful things there. I never get tired of it, either. I\'m flattered that you think it was one of the best you\'ve read (my personal favorite and the place I got my name? Talk, by Annabel Winslow). Thanks for taking the time to read and leave such kind words for me.

Seriously, that was lovely. The way it jumped around in time, the bit with Kevin in the break room, the way you point out the significance of all the little moments (and really, that's what Jim and Pam are: the little moments) all tied together to create this sweet glimpse into their first few months.  Nice work.

This was amazing!

I think we sometimes overlook that she must have wanted him as badly as he wanted her, she was just unable to accept it as a real possibility.  This was a nice glimpse into the denial she was always forcing herself into.  I especially loved their conversation in the end and the way she thought he was so calm and collected, when in actually his brain must have been exploding after her confession, and it was just one more example of their miscommunication.

You just *get* these characters, which is probably why all of your stories are so darned amazing - this newest one is no exception.
