Gosh this is devastating and heartwrentching, even moreso because of how realistic it is. This isn't something I ever wanted to contemplate happening but honestly, in season 4 especially, even though they were happy, I could see it. After that whole thing in Chair Model when he told her a proposal was coming, I watched the look on her face as he returned to his desk, quite a few times actually, and she didn't seem to be excited or giddy, she seemed conflicted or confused to me. I worried about that. Then when she was obviously into the 'fake proposals' and even moreso when she was giddy and then disappointed over first an expected proposal and then the lack of one, that;s when I finally started believing that if Jim would get it together and get the proposal out there, things were going to be okay. THis was so well written, and the note on the pillow was perfectly Jim. Off and running again. Unwilling to face it, to discuss, to work through it. Heart breaking! SO SO glad we never actually saw anything like this happen.

Summary: The sequel to Dunder Hall, This is Pam. Picks up several years after where we last left off.

I really REALLY hope you will come back to this story! So far it's made me mostly pretty sad but it's certainly looking up! For now I'm feeling cheated out of a proposal and them being stable and happy. I'm thrilled that Jim made the move for her. REALLY hope there will be more!

Author's Response: I'll definitely come back to it. I just need to figure out where the heck I was going with this again.

Summary: Jim and Pam are next door neighbors in their early 20's and have known each other their whole lives. Jim's brother Jonathan and Pam are best friends and Pam does not like Jim at all... or does she? AU (ya think?!)

LOVE the entire concept of this story. I am amazed at the way you were able to put Jim and Pam, plus the others in an entirely different scenerio yet totally be true to their personalities. I love the slow reveal of how much Jim cares for and is in fact in love with Pam and the fact that you can clearly see that she is in just as deep as he is. Love the element of him wanting to cook for her and her buying something sexy to wear for him that shows there is a lot more to this than sex.

I REALLY hope you will be continuing this story despite it being so ong since there was an update!

Summary: This is just a silly post-finale story based on an exaggeration of the premise that The Office is becoming just like a soap opera.  Yeah, that is not an accusation that should be thrown around lightly.  ;)

Okay... I have to say, (please no onr throw stones) I don't read badfic, I just kinda find them pointless but something about this made me stop and read and I must say, it made me laugh and my life is petty cappy right now so I REALLY needed that laugh. I still probaby won't read badfics or become a fan of them but in all sincerety, THANKS for making me laugh when I most needed it! :o)

Man... what I wouldn't give to see this story continued and finished. It's a very unique story on this site yet so compelling for many reasons, not the least of which is that while Pam became brave enough to move her life to a whole different country and pursue what she loves, personality wise she still seems to be ummm... stunted maybe? She allows fear to completely reign as far as her telling, or rather NOT telling, Jim her feelings. The one night she was thinking to herself, let him make the first move and then I'll tell him how I feel. Yet when Jim makes a HUGE move, first he wastes no time in calling her when he gets home, can't seem to be able to bear being aways from her but then after enduring a terrifying plane ride on his way home from London, one that had him vowing no more planes, he ends up turning arouns, ON BLIND FAITH in Pam, and returning to her in London. Pam, I'd say he certainly made the first move, now it's your turn. I hope that maybe in discussions that we didn't get to 'see' here, maybe Pam explained the situation with Simon to Jim. If not, she did certainly tell him she was 'kinda' seeing someone so I am truly hoping that Jim is going to be willing to hear her out about who Simon is and what he is doing at her home. I tend to believe that Pam would probably freak out and run away when confronted with this situation but I just see Jim, especially with all they shared the night before, as being more level headed and willing to listen to explainations. Oh, I don't think I said, the other thing Pam seems like stunted on is she seems to have allowed Simon to treat her carelessly, much the way she allowed Roy to do the same thing for years. She makes up uscuses and pardons behaviors that are bad, even going as far as allowing him to cheat on her. I hope Jim now being there will remedy this. I know you said you should be able to wrap it up in just a few more chapters so I am sincerely hoping you will continue this for us to the end. I really REALLY am predicting that Jim is going to relocate to London until Pam is ready to come back home. In thinking about how this could be resolved I realized that you had said early on theat DM was opening a division or something in London... perfect solution to their problem and hey, you couldn't get anyone better to head up the new division and really make it work and I'm sure that David Wallace HAS to know that AND I'm sure he'll also know how dedicated he is to Pam given the fact that he got on a plane and flew there on a whim (heck not just flew there, flew BACK there after having JUST gotten home from there) and my money is on Wallace not wanting to chance losing an employee as valuable as Jim. Please finish... PLEASE!!!CCC(yep begging and I'll beg MORE if it'll help! Your whole style of writing is somehow very unique, in a very good way and I just really want more.. plus a resolution to this story! I mean, you can't leave Jim standing at Pam's door wondering who Simon is forever now can you??? THAT would just be cruel and we don't want to be cruel to Jim... we love Jim!) PLEASE... PLEASE!!!

Summary: Jim wants to stop Pam's engagement to Roy, but is forced to watch it all play out because of an obligation to Roy. How far will he let it go though?

WOW... sooooo good! I have to say, I'v forgiven their mom. To me, in the previous chapters, she was just coming off as, well, willing to sacrifice Jim and his feelings and future happines for Roy. I guess I should have realized that it just isn't that easy and as a mom she just found herself between a rock and a hard place and most probably simply wasn't sure what was right. I guess it seemed that if Pam was going through with the wedding then presumably Roy was what Pam wanted so maybe she actually was thinking she was sparing Jim's feelings not to mention if Pam and Roy had gone ahead and gotten married after Jim had confessed, would have made for real akward family dynamics so she may have really thought it was in the best intrest of both boys. In any case, she really makes up for it here. I truly like how you have this chapter play out and honestlly, I just didn't see any way you were going to be able to untangle this whole thing without it being a mess of gigantic proportions but you really handled it so perfectly. Having the dad, who I am certain is the stronge of the parents and probably the one that would make the biggest immediate impact on Roy, take him outside and talk to him, and I would assume he was in some way or other backing Jim, not completely, not the way it was done, but just letting him know that Jim wasn't completely wrong and his parent's still love him, I think THAT is SO instumental to all of this working out with the family being able to work through this eventually and also being able to open their minds to still one day welcome Pam as a menber of the family one day, under other circumstances, because I think it's inevitable and very important. More than that, I just adored Jim's mom finally telling him her thoughts and feelings. Telling him that she knew as soon as he had told Pam and that she was so afraid that she had broke his heart. It showed me how much Jim's mom really does care about him and I'm so glad because I've just always pictured in my head Jim having a very close relationship with his Parents, and even being a bit of a mommy's boy which is why I think I took her actions to heart so much. I LOVE and think it was SO important that she confessed to Jim that she regrets not saying anything to him when she found out because she could have stopped it all, she feels blame. So there is both his father in the last chapter and his mom here confessing to the guilt they feel for letting this just go and I am just so glad to see this. They let Jim suffer in silence for too long. They let him cover for Roy and lie for him and really, they let Jim make Roy's relationship work when it had to be obvious that the real reason he did it was that he loved Pam and he just simply couldn't stand the thought of her being hurt. I'm glad that they see this and hopefully they WILL make it up to Jim by accepting him and Pam as a couple togethr, making them feel as comfortable as they can, when the time comes that they are ready to be around people as a couple.

ou now, backing up to the beginning of the chapter, it doesn't surprise me that it didn't take long for Jim to tell Roy I just think e's the type of guy with a guilty conscience and it would really be eating at him, always there with him worrying that Roy would find out some other way and I think Jim would certainly have wanted Roy to have heard it coming from him. VERY smart for Jim to tell him while they are at their parent's house. I mean, as we saw, things could have easily spiraled out of control physically (and there's no Dwight in this story to swing in and save the day!) so what better than to have it where there are a few punches thrown and then the parents break it up.

It is really so Roy, and speaks of really why things didn't really work out with Pam, that he just doesn't get it. Hopefully on reflection he'll be able to see some things, like the fact that his brother has had a better relationship with Pam, and he was always asking his brother to save his relationship with Pm and oh, if his brother and Pam hadn't been best friends, where he had a lot of influence over her, Roy and Pam's relationship would have almost certainly ended long before it did. Instead Roy seemed to get in this comfort zone of at best indifference and at worst plain neglect and figured (even if he wasn't aware that he thought this) that he coud screw up because if e did he had ole Jimmy boy on hand to go in there and clean up any mess he had made.

Finally, I like that Jim called to warn Pam about what was going on before Roy got back there (of course one would expect no less of him! Oh and as a side not, LOVE how the dad told Jim that e and Pam shouldn't go walking around town together just yet!) Very good to have Pam's dad there when Roy gets home, that would be a sure way to make sure things won't get out of hand. Anyhow, it's kinda sad for Roy that he just can't get it, seems to think that he and Jum should be interchangable. I think what he's probably missing is that the love between Pam and Jim wasn't a high school fell in love type thing but rather something that came from time and years spent building a solid friendship. Learnig each other and caring. I like to think it's the more mature type love that there are a few high school relatonships can translate ad become that type of love, but just not many. I eally hope when Roy thinks and reflects he'll be able to see so many of these things. I'm sure it will still sting, having lost Pam, especially how he did and especially to his own brother, but hopefully if he really tries to understand the why of it all he'll be able to see and there will be some valuable lessons he'll be able to take into his next relationship that will make it more successful.

I'm excited for the next chapter, heck, I'm excited for EVERY. SINGLE. CHAPTER! Seriously, I check over and over every day, even when I am sure there won't be anything new that day. I just can't seem to help myself. Anyhow, I can't wait to see what more goes on between the brothers and I'm kinda wondering if we'll hear Tom's reaction. He seems like a bit of a wild card to me. Then of course I'm SOOOOO excited to get these two started on the path to dating and happiness! You. Are. Awesome. Thanks for keeping this going and keeping it fresh and exciting. Also, thanks for the time you take with your responses to my reviews. I'm pretty embarassed that they are always so long and boring so, I'm sorry about that. I just seem to start and all my thoughts come pouring out. Again, sorry.

Author's Response: I adore your reviews. Sometimes you point out things that I barely remember writing. I'm convinced you have a wicked awesome memory or you take notes. Super impressed. You hit the Mom right on the nose and all the parents for that matter. It was a less about them meddling and ignoring and more about them trying to let these 3 figure out what and who they wanted to be with. Now that you mentioned Dwight stopping the Roy punch I feel slightly sad that I didn't manage to bring him into the story some how. I guess there's always the next AU. Tom is definitely a wild card. I will tell you that there was something to be said about his dance with Pam at the dinner.

I really like the unique angle of this story! Of course I HATE that Jim caved and not onlt helped Roy, pleading his case to Pam thereby crushing Jim's chances at least for now, but the fact that he was selling Roy's lie about missing the dinner when he knew the truth, Roy was completely neglectfl , just about killed me. I was so sad that after Pam was ready to face her feelings for Jim, he crushed her. I hope you are sticking with this because I can't wait to see where it goes next and I'm of course really hoping for Jim and Pam together by the end! REALY hope you update SOON!

I forgot to say in my review, THANK YOU for answering my inquiy about Mifflin Designs. I am extremely happy to know that after this story, hopefully you will be working on that again and I will still have more of your fics to read. I am very serious, each of yours has a special place in my heart. I just finished Leaning to Love Again yesterday for at least the 6th time. I'm getting ready to reread Dunder Hall again, just love it so much! I used to not like AUs now I can't get enough of them and I can't find enough of them either! Keep up the great work. Your mind + your talent + your writing style= a whole lot of enjoyment for your readers. THANKS!

Author's Response: I have some more AUs planned! One is started already so I might go with that one first, but Mifflin Designs is first on my list if I can get back in the groove of writing it. That means so much to me that you reread my stories. Thank you!

You seriously keep outdoing yourself and at the same time you keep this so believable it's unreal. Thing is, in real life, people that are couples, even engaged, DO fall for siblings of the person they are supposed to be with/marry so it just isn't at all a far fetched story. Oh BTW, right before I read this chapter I reread my review of the last one and WOW it was cringe worthy! My spelling is honestly NOT that bad. My keyboard and my typing truly SUCK! I have to watch the keys rather than the words that I am typing and I usually forget to proofread so I post so really horrific stuff, SO sorry! I hope the fat that it tends to get my point across is okay. Oh and also, nope, no note taking and honestly, after a coupl surgeries on my brain (I think I've said that. Sorry to be repetitive, just making a point) my memory is actually pretty sucky. I DO sometimes refer a bit back through the story as I am reviewing to make sure I've made the points I wanted to but other than that I start typing and just tend to forget to stop. I'm really glad to know that you don't hate my long drawn out reviews! Okay, since that is done...

I love that Pam took on getting an apartment all by herself. She really needs to show that although she will likely be very heavy into a new relationship very quickly, this time she is going to have some independence and she is going to do things for herself. I like to think that as she did on the show, in this story Pam finds that she lost too much of herself in her relationship and that she really needs to carve out a place to be just Pam rather than Pam and ___. Hope that makes sense. So I LOVE that they end up making out and while they are trying SO hard not to cross any lines too quickly, it's so realistic that this would be such a struggle because this is the stuff that they both have spent a really long time imagining, fantisising about and believing that they would NEVER get that opportunity so I think it's natural and realistic that the physical part of their relationship would happen rather quickly. I mean, it's not like she's going out with this new guy she just met or he has a date that someone set him up with. This is stuff that has been simmering under the surface, I have to believe that it would be very easy for it to get out of control and honestly, I think that's fine. I always think people should take the time to get to know others before they brng the physical aspect in. They should know if they really like the PERSON and the thing is, these two know each other probably better than they know anyone else and they certainly like each other so, hey, it's time. Oh and when Pam's cell stopped ringing and Jim's started, I thought Roy right away. It just had to be. One last thing on this part of the story, I just truly like the connection you have between Jim and Pam. I mean, aside from always rooting them on personally, it's just so clear how wel they connect, how like like and respect each other and I LOVE that Jim REALLY wants to respect the limits that Pam is trying to set, even when his body wants otherwise and even when SHE doesn't want to stick to the limits.

You could not have done a better job with how you handled the Roy/im stuff in this chapter. I have to believe that Roy half got drunk so he could make Pam feel that she needed to rescue him. I think when you are in the position he is in you would do just about anything to get attention from the person you want it from, in his case Pam, even if it's resorting to bad behavior. Oh and if it means she feels guilty for 'making him do that' well, that's all the better. What I really love here is the strong Jim character that comes out. When he yells at Roy to get in the car and he makes it clear he just sn't going to put up with crap. At the same time though, he cares enough to tell him to put on his seatbelt. Oh, I also love that despite Jim being pretty sensitive about things, he refuses to feel guilty for Roy's DUI AND I really love that he tells Roy that he (Jim) would like his own life too. I can't help but think that Jim is thinking back to not only the fact that this little episode with Pam interrupted Pam and Jim's make out session but more importantly, Pam had told him that she loves him and he can't even stay and celebrate that, mark that moment in time, he STILL has to go get Roy out of jail. It's just realy great seeing Jim in this stronger role. I really like that while Roy is trying to lead Jim and bait him about having a girl, maybe Pam, over, Jim 100% refuses to engage in that. You can sense that he knows he has hurt Roy and even if Roy is asking for it, he just isn't going to do any more damage than has to be done. (Like when it inevitably becomes known that they are a couple.)

Finally, my favorite here may have been their talk in the morning. I LOVE that they each could say the same thing to the other... 'you could have had any girl. Why did you have to pick the one I was in love with.' It did make me think that back in high school, if it was a girl Roy was hanging around I doubt Jim would have just decided Roy wasn't interested, I think Jim would have asked him and made sure, but that's neither here nor there now. It should have shown Roy just how long Jim has been holding all of this in if he thought that WAYYYY back in high school.

I'm unbelievably happy that you have another chapter ready to go... bring on the smut! (OMG... dirty mind!) I adore all of this and I cannot wait to see how what Tom said during the dance at the rehersal dinner plays into everything. I really have wondered about that and what exactly he was saying ever since you posted it. You've made this a happy day!

Author's Response: Thanks ftmil16. When I started this I wasn't completely sure I could make it believable. It was a long shot at best. Glad I could make it a happy day. I really liked writing strong Jim. I like to think that with his brother's he isn't so laid back. At least I know my brothers aren't with each other. I totally agree about knowing someone for so long and trying to take things slowly. Because you basically don't have to do the getting to know you part, they've been sharing things about themselves forever.

The way you wrote this chapter was unexpected and absolutely awesome! You know, the reaction of Mrs Halpert was really a disappointment to me. I mean, she knew... REALLY knew as in Jim admitted it to her, knew and was 100% willing to completely turn a blind eye to it and allow his feelings to be trampled on for Roy. Honestly, because of the way mothers love their children, especially their sons, the person she should be disappointed in is herself because rather than exploring Jim's feelings and the fact that I think they probably all knew that she returned them, at least to a degree, she was willing to sacrifice the happiness of one son AND her future daughter in law for the sake of the other. You know, I just wonder, did they think that the marriage happening ws going to fix things? Would it wipe out Jim's feelings? Make Roy an attentie husband though he couldn't quite get being an attentive boyfriend? Would it wipe out Pam's doubts and obvious feeling towards Jim? The unexpecte and SO wonderful part of the chapter is Jim and Roy's dad and the things he has to say. They were basically how I would have expected their mom to react but it was for some reason so much more delightful coming from the dad, maybe because I expected him to be upset with Jim. I just LOVE that the dad not only takes the blame but comes clean saying that they all knew including himself and his wife, Tom, the Beeslys, all of them, yet were ready to turn a blind eye. I love that he is supportive and encouraging and fully expecting Jim and Pam to not only have a relationship, but not to hide it. LOVED the remark about how if things go bad with Jim and Roy, two Christmases. I STILL just can't wrap my mind around the actions and reactions of their mom, being the mom of three children, two of them grown, I simply cannot see ever sacrificing the happiness, especially when it comes to a matter as delicate and permanate as love, of one of my children for the sake of the other. I would kinda love to hear the interraction between Mrs and mr Halpert about all of this. I mean, did she tell him what Jim told her at Christmas and the fact that she expected him to smply keep his mouth shut? Based on the things he said to Jim on the phone, it just makes me wonder exactly what his reaction to a confession like tat would have been. It seems to me ike he would not have been very happy with her and probably would have said some of things to her that I have been thinking like, how coud you just sit back and let this happen when you KNEW to the extent that her had actually TOLD you! Also, in thinking back to all that happend at Christmas (it was Christmas, right? I think you MAY have referred to it here as Thanksgiving but maybe there was something on Thanksgiving I'm forgetting about. I just remember Jim's fould mood on Christmas and helping to unload the truck, the gift of the ugly sweater from grandma and gifts between Jim and Pam) anyhow, thinking back to that day, Roy should have SOME kind of a clue and when I think of that it makes me feel a little less sorry for him because of the way he walked by the door with Jim and Pam in the room and was making fun of Jim's feelings.

Anyhow, I also really loved the way you did the second part of the chapter. I knew it was unlikely that Jim and Pam would be able to stay apart for long, but SO like Jim to totally respect hr request for a few days so it was simply perfect for her to show up to see him. I cannot imagine how much of a relief it was for Jim to see her there. I also loved that she not only esentially asked him out, she also let him know WHEN she felt it would be okay to make that move and really, I think it's a good idea for them to wait a month. It really WOULD seem disrespectful to all that has happened for them to dive right in immediately. Then there is the hanging out just as best friends... pERFECT! I mean, they've done it for years, why ot now when she likely needs her best friend more than ever and frankly, so does he. The observation that in their 'Would you still love me' game, that he had never said he wouldn't love her, that was just brilliant because really, I don't know that there's much of anything that Pam could do that would cause Jim not to love her. Actually, in thinking about it, she questioned him back a couple chapters about him saying he would still love her if she married is brother but the thing is, it was true and that was the really sad part of it all. Even her marrying his brother would not cause him to not love her, and honestly it wouldn't have stopped her from loving him either.

Just another in a series of amazing chapters. This story, while I thought it always pomised to be good, has exceeded my expectations by so much and just keeps getting better and better.

Oh, I keep thinking about something the dad said if I can go back to that for a minute, when he said, that girld had your heart and held 'Roy's life together' it seems that the fact that they felt that Pam was what was holding Roy's life together, that's probably exactly why they were willing to turn a blind eye to it all. I mean, as long as Pam was there, holding Roy's life together, and honestly, by extention in so many ways, Jim was the one holding Pam's life together, well, then they didn't have to worry. I just don't get how any of them could ave seen this, no matter how vaugely, ad not gotten that it wasn't a recipe for a marriage tat would work. Honestly, the marriage would have just made things worse I would think.

I CANNOT wait to see what happens when Roy and Jim talk and then when Jim and Pam start dating. You are just making this story sooooo great! Thanks!

Author's Response: It was Christmas, you're right. I must have been hungry when I was writing that, still kind of hungry now. Think about Mrs. Halpert's disappointment more in a timing way. She never actually says that he was wrong to do it. She's only upset that they did it two days before the wedding. We will explore all of their parents' expectations when we get to the chapter when Roy finds out. And those expectations will have something to do with Mrs. Halpert's personal disappointment.

Date: February 04, 2011 Title: Chapter 10: I stopped caring

Oh WOW! I was really waiting for this chapter anxiously and though I am not even close to being a fan of Roys, or even liking him, all the same, anyone who could read this and not feel their heart break for Roy, and really for Pam too as you could tell she did what she truly felt she HAD to do certainly not because it was what she wanted to do, if a personcould read that and not feel thr heartbreak, I can't see how they even have a heart! It will be interesting to see how Jim and Pam start working out their lives together and what the fallout will be. I would think that given the fact that they have always been best friends and spent a lot of time together they should be able to hide things under the guise of friendship for a while but at the same time, maybe the family would be pressuring Jim about the friendship because of 'poor Roy.' Should be interesting.

BTW... I HAD completely forgotten about the fact that Pam had not only kissed Jim (I DID remember that, just not everything surrounding it. Hey, I've had a couple of Brain surgeries, I forget FAR more than I remember!!! ) but Pam had also compltely broken up with Roy and confessed the kiss and her feelings about Jim to her mom and sister bacj in chapter 4. I STILL think though, Jim needed to be REALLY certain about Pam's feelings before he made a move that has the potential to alienate his entire famly, probably some mutual friends that he and Roy have and if he wasn't right, Pam herself. I think with her taking Roy back all the time, it was enough to tell Jim that he needed to keep back. I hope you see what I am saying. It's funny, I normally think people are FAR too hard on Pam so this is a bit of a different view for me. ALL of the way tou have written it has made it an amazing story that really doesn't have ANY real winners.

Oh and the other thing, don't know who told you that Middlin Designs isn't any good, I DISAGREE! Just reread Dunder Hall and followed it with that and you stopped when it was getting REALLY good. CANNOT wait for you to start on that again and I'm also really excited to see what other UA ideas you come up with. I love that you really go the distance with your stories!~

Anyhow... another GREAT chapter... THANKS!

Author's Response: Thanks ftmill16! Hopefully some winners will surface after all this. Love that you're rereading stuff!

:::::fanning self::::: That was really HOT! Smuttiest you've ever written? Who cares?! It was great, well written and believable, to me THAT'S what matters! I really like that you gave this an entire chapter of it's own because I really think it needed it. Also, I like the uuummm... let's say, false start, where they couldn't go any farther in the last chapter because to me that really set this one up well. It let us know that reguardless of their intentions, which are admirable though not really realistic, they are honestly ready to take the leap into a physical relationship and really, there isn't a lot of reason to just keep dancing around it. I hope that although they've really jumped ahead of themselves here a bit, and I really think that's fine, I would still like to see him ask er out and take her on a proper date(s) because she deserves that and so does he. I think they both need and deserve the fun and courtesies of a new relationship even if some things can be dispensed with because of the situation. I just love each of their deep declarations of love at the end here. I just get the sense that it's such of a relief to each of them not only to be able to say it out loud to each other but even just to truly admit it to themselves, especially for Pam.

Just curios, during this break up, moving out, dividing the household thing, has Pam had contact with the Halpert parents or is that something that we will see her first contact with them? I'm just curious because we know that they handled things really well with their boys but otoh Pam IS the one that while she made one son the happiest he has probably ever been, she hurt their other son. Just wondering what their reaction is and if they will be resentful about her waiting though they should understand since it kinda went according to Jim's timing. She was obviously prepared to marry Roy, right or wrong.

Shorter review this chapter but WOW, what a fantastic one! Oh and thank you SO much for the quick updates. Because of my health a lot of times reading these fics truly are the highlight of my pathetic life so it's like getting a little gift when I check in and see another brand new chapter. SOOOO cannot wait for more! Keep it coming!

Author's Response: Thanks ftmill16! Smut isn't my strong suit, but I just can't help myself in adding it to stories. Pam hasn't had contact with the Halperts yet. I don't have it planned that you will see the first contact (I'm always changing my mind though), but you will see them meet up before we end the story. And Pam and Jim will be doing regular people dating stuff soon.

OMG I was so thrilled when you started adding chapters to this story again and now I find myself waiting holding my breath for each chapter, hoping it's finally the one where they are both honest with each other and where Pam can see that Jim is what keeps her relatioship with Roy alive. I find it makes me furious how the parents and brother are simply fine with overlooking Jim's feelings and the fact that this hurts him deeply, not to mention how they completely overlook how Roy takes Pam for granted and Jim and Pam are simply the perfect fit. I so hope that Jim and Pam will be able to get a happy ending and his family won't resent them. I have a feeling that Pam's family has known for a long time who the best man for their daughter is. Just on a side note, do you think there's any chance of you continuing your Mifflin Designs this is Jim, story when you are done here? I adore all of your writing and I think leaving that story (or any of yours) unfinished is almost a crime. You have a wonderful gift, not with just the skill and quality of your writing which is without a doubt supurb, it's the scenerios you come up with and the ways that you work through the obstcles in those and make them work that is brilliant. I absolutely cannot wait for more of this!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! We will definitely cover the family's involvement or lack off coming up. As far Mifflin Designs, I have worked on that story since I stopped posting it, I have anywhere between 7-10 different versions of the unposted chapter that I haven't deleted. I hate them all. I'm just really lost with it. But I will finish it, I just have to figure out where I was going with it again.

::::breathing huge sigh of relief while trying to swallow past the lump in my throat:::: OMG I am SO invested in this story. I honestly sighed in relief when he finally confessed his love and also when they finally allowed themselves to admit both to each other AND to themselves that they belong together and sealed it with a long awaited kiss. You know, in this scenerio, Pam kinda makes me mad She takes tiny steps then backs WAY off expecting Jim to do all the hard work. Meanwhile, It doesn't seem that she has any real appreciation for the horrible situation that Jim finds himself in. I believe that Pam is smart enough to know that Jim has had to cover for Roy all those times. Also, she HAS to know that it seems that Roy appears to be the 'golden child' in his family. It just seems that Pam would have to see hints that Roy and Jim's family are not only okay with, but even expect Jim to ignore the feelings for Pam that I believe had they gone unspoken they would have eventually destroyed him and probably her too. I mean, it's been in my head since the last chapter, how in the world does she ignore how Jim HAD to feel when his brother tells him that she is the only good thing in his life? I would think she would unerstand that those words, without a clear signal from her, would prevent Jim from speaking up. I just really understand in this situation what an absolute impossible place Jim found himself and the fact is, he may well be making a choice between having his family or having her and while being truly in love and esentially knowing that she IS 'the one' for him, there is just NO WAY he can take that step without knowing that she feels the same and in the process lose evrything in the process. I know that most of this really applies to the chapters preceeding this, but this chapter, and particularly Pam's anger at Jim, really got me thinking about it all and just how much Jim could lose. I hope his family will see when they find out, that this is right. It seems like they kind of like Pam being there to steady Roy and really so he can be her problem rather than theirs, but it's selfish and I really do hope that in the fallout that is certain to come, they can see that they expected both Jim and Pam to ignore their true feelings so that she could be whatever Roy and his family wants her to be for Roy. I am holding my breath SO excited for the next chapters! I can't wait to see how it all goes when Roy is denied what hec wants. I thought it was great insight into the mind of Penny and probably her family as well when Penny danced with Jim and said she thought it would be him. (and immediately after he professed his love to Pam no less! Makes me wonder if it was maybe even some sort of a last ditch plea, you know, "wake up Jim! You are better for my sister, you belong together and you're going to lose her forever!" I also noticed (unles I somehow missed it) that Pam didn't tell Jim that she also loves him, though I'm sure it is implied. Maybe she feels she needs to have things over with Roy before she actually says it! I just cannot wait to see what comes next! Good luck with your family stuff but PLEASE, hurry back! You can't leave us hanging here! :o)

Author's Response: ftmil16, I absolutely love your long reviews! I can see how invested you really are. I get being mad at Pam, but remember way far back in chapter 4 when she was ready to let it all go to be with Jim and then he called and let her down and he never brought it up again. So give her a little slack. For her she was ready for that big step and it didn't happen, so now she's going to be more cautious. The family stuff will be more tricky than his parents liking Pam with Roy. There was a reason his mom only consoled Jim but didn't tell him not to say anything. And Pam didn't say I love you, she's still coming to terms with calling off her wedding but we will get to that. It will be a big thing for her and them as a couple. Again, thanks so much for the review. I love hearing all of this.

This is such a wonderful piece! You really do write SO well and you do a really good job with the Jim and Pam dynamic. Heck, you even portray Karen and Jim and Karen's relatiship exactly as I imagined. I always thought that if Jim didn't need Karen as a buffer for Pam that their relationship wouldn't have started/lasted but I would nevver do such a wonderful job at portraying it as you did. Thanks for a great story!

Author's Response: Thank you very much! Yep, I don't think Karen would've ever had a chance if Jim wasn't so burned by Pam. I'm glad you enjoyed.

WHEW! What Jim and Pam went through was agonizing and I'm thinking most of the time 'Jim you're blowing it BIG TIME.' He could cearly see her frusration and hurt not to mention it was a bit frustrating how often he left her alone rather than go on things she wanted to go on or pass on things she couldn't but thankfully in the end he came through, though THANK GOD he got assistance! Always like a happy ending for this fantastic couple! :::::sigh::::: I am SUCH a JAM fan! GREAT job on the story. Also, I'm hoping that your knowledge of Disney is what it seems to be in the story because we are taking our daughter there in a month and hoefully some of this will come in handy! So I know it's been over 4 years since you've done anything with this but I really wish you would. You left off right where Jim is ready to go to Scranton and I'm dying to see this play out. Okay, let me rephrase that, I'm dying to see it play out assuming once he gets to Scranton he falls hard for a certain receptionist and realizes that what he actually felt for Karen was more based on her looks and the fact that someone so good looking wanted to be around him or something like that. I guess in my mind I imagine him getting to Scranton after Pam and Roy are done, maybe even when he's still trying to win her back but Pam and Jim hit it off immediately and soon realize there's a real connection. Maybe he even wonders how he would feel about Pam if Karen were still in the picture, would he still be head over heels for Karen and then have to try and convince himself he loves Pam? This could all be put to the test with the merger happening in Scranton and Karen decides to go because after Jim leaves and cuts off contac she begins to rethink her view of him and the possibility of commiting to him. When she gets to Scranton and sees him in a relationship, especially with Pam who Karen is CERTAIN Pam is absolutely no competition for her and she just knows that all she needs to do is hint at wanting Jim around and in her mind he'll drop 'dowdy boring Pam' and come running back to her. When it doesn't happen at first she's convinced he's trying to make her pay for hurting him. But as she starts to watch them closely and sees the bond they have she starts trying more desperate measures, eventually having to conceed that Jim and Pam truly are soul mates and what he felt for her was a type of love based on infatuation but he was mistaken in that he never was really ever 'in love' with her, ust like Pam loved Roy but wasnt truly 'in love.' (I'm one of those people that believe TRUE LOVE is really a once in a lifetime type thing and though people often mistake their feelings for being that, and really they maybe could have perfectly pleasant lives with those people but it will never be the same as it would have been had they waited for their 'soul mate' or one true love. The pathetic thing is that I believe this because after being married 25 yrs I firmly believe I blew it and was bowled over by things I shouldn't have been. Not sure if I never met my soul mate of if sadly I actually did, but because of a lot of factors I broke up with him and to this day I have DEEP regrets that I let that relationship and that wondeful guy go.

Okay, sorry that most of my review is based on begging you to finish this story (seriously, unless you're going to have Karen as his true love or have him choose Karen over Pam, in which case, I'm okay with it remaining unfinished! ROFL!) I mean the outcome doesn't have to be the same as in he stays hung up on Karen just using Pam to get over her because there is one HUGE dynamic right off that's completely different and that is that Karen just rejects him and has no real reason and this is after 4 years of what many would consider teasing with the on and off casual sex, kissing... totally disregarding Jim's feelings as a man as she tottally uses him as a fill in when she is between boyfriends. There's no way she couldn't have realized that at very least he had some very real, very deep feelings for her. I mean the way he wanted her to not ump out of bed and rush home in the mornings and he wanted her to meet and spend time with his family. Karen's an intelligent girl, there's no way she she would be totally clueless. Anyhow what I was saying abut the different dynamic, Pam's reason for turning Jim down was a wedding that was almost there and she didnt think she could really stop and a 10 yr relationship that she wasn't sure she could end or really that she even had the right to since she had promised herself to him. That night, Casino Night, they shared really their only kiss (I just can't include the Dundies kiss when talking about 'real' kisses) and both admitted to having wanted to do that for a really long time. So there are no casual kisses, casual sex etc. The crazy thing is that even with Pam in a relationship I think that if Jim had asked her to spend a day with his sister and nieces and she didn't have other plans and especially if Roy was busy, I think she would have. It would be interesting if right after Jim moves to Scranton if his sister and nieces came to visit and he were to ask Pam, kinda offhand, totally expecting her to shoot him down because of Karen, to spend the day with all of them and Pam just easily says sure,I'd love to. It would be nice for Jim to see the differences. Or maybe his family is having some type of a get together at his parent's house, maybe to celebrate one of the girl's birthdays or the fact that Matt and Kim have a baby boy coming and where Jim KNOWS Karen would have quickly rejected an invitation to meet and spend the day with his family, Pam just as quickly accepts it. Anyhow, again, sorry for all my ideas coming out here. If you can't tell, I am NOT a fan of Karen (actually kind of hate her... you can actually take the kind of out of that sentence) and I AM a HUGE fan of Jim and Pam and have always felt they are sould mates and each others only TRUE love. That has made this story interesting to me, hoping you have plans to turn it aroun and make it a true Jim and Pam story and certainly not Jim and Pam but Jim always regrets and wonders how things could have played out with Karen. The writing is really great and this is a story that as I read it I coul really see it playing out in my mind like a movie and stories like that I always give the author HUGE kudos, it's not every author that can make the images fo vivid. So PLEASE, I BEG you, I do realize it's been over 4 years but that doesn't mean you can't come back, add a few chapter and end this happily for us. As a Jim/Pam fan right now this story makes me SO sad, Jim needs DESPERATELY to meet Pam, PLEASE, help him do so! Okay, I hope by some miracle you see this and finish the story. I'm very sick and spend a lot of my life in bed. The Office Fan Fiction and before the show itself, is what gets me through my long extremely painful days. When I read a good story I'm able to forget my pain at least for a little while. Will you help me forget? You have no idea how much I would appreciate it! Hope to see more soon~!

October, 2008

Tonight, I was making dinner for Audrey. The only thing I know how to cook is spaghetti, because the way I see it, that’s the easiest food to make that contains at least one thing from the food pyramid. So the reason why I’m cooking for Audrey tonight is because…she’s ready to, as she likes to put it, take our relationship to the next level. Yes, I have dated Audrey for a year and a half but we have yet to have sex. Which is, and I’m being serious, fine by me. She just wanted to be sure that she’d lose her virginity to someone she truly loves, so when she told me she was ready, it made me feel all kinds of special.

Okay... I know this review is WAY after the fact so it will probably never be answered BUT... here as i show it says that it is Oct 2008. it says Jim is making dinner for Audrey because she is ready to have sex with him and goes on to say that they have dated for over a year and a half. Problem is, the thing that seems to be anything that could maybe possibly be considered their first date, and I'm not even sure about calling this a first date since Jim sent pam flowers and they BOTH felt bad about kissing because of Pam, but that was dated in your flashbacks as Valentine's day 2008. SO, if you would consider that as the first date, and I don't think you could consider anything before it as one because otherwise jim would not have been sending Pam flowers or even considering it, so that makes it 8 months from the first date. also, you said in a reply to a review that you wanted to show that Jim wasn't pining for Pam and that he was in fact in love with Audrey... I should first say, it's your story so obviously it's how you say it is. However, Jim's actions totally seem to go against what you are saying here. If jim had not been pining and especially if he HONESTLY had been truly in love with audrey, there is NO WAY that a phone call from Pam, after so long apart would have stopped the relationship dead in it's tracks like that. Hoestly I believe he felt love for Audrey and whatever other girls, same with Pam and Alex, but I think both the actions of Jim, dropping Audrey the way he did and also right after he saw Pam again he dropped Karen, though it was made clear that he KNEW there was no love there, but also Pam, after a night with her fiance, all Jim has to do is tell her that he isn't over her and she is at his door the next morning. I think that due to unfortunate circumstances the two were kept apart, I think they mostly stayed apart fearing that each time they had to part with each other again would be more painful than the time before. I think they each also took turns fearing that they themselves HAD to move on because they felt the other person was past it. I honestly don't think that either of them fell in and out of love with each other, i think they just pushed it way far back so it wouldn't hurt and tried real darn hard to get other people to fill the gaping hole that was in their heart. I think when Jim looked at Mecheal and Holly and saw soul mates, he KNEW that he and Pam were the same way but he was so afraid that there was no way they would end up together that he refused to see it.

Oh, and I know that Audrey seems to be a kinda popular character in this fic but honestly, I thought she was underhanded and scheming. She KNEW at the beginning of her friendship with Jim that he had a girl he was madly in love with but she went for him anyhow, just in a very understated way. I think she counted on something that ended up working in her favor, she was there, Pam wasn't. Of course she saw in the end that it was Pam that Jim was actually in love with. Okay, far too long winded but I just really feel that this actually is a piece that shows perfectly that Jim and Pam wee soul mates and really were in love from the start. To me, looking from that angle it's very sweet.

You do such an awesome job on this story, I am absolutely in love with it.

The way you work in the different things from the show alongside your own original plotline is genious. (I know I botched that spelling, sorry!)

The way you have had Jim and Pam just fit together effortlessly is so woderful. If only they would have done that on the show rather than puyying us through seasons of agony.

I like the way you switched a few things here, made it so much more realistic for this scenerio. One was Pam asking Jim to go off with her dad so that she could talk to her mom rather than Jim having any type of talk with her dad about her parents marriage, that would have been too awkward to be beievable the first time they met. The second was changing the content of what Jim said about Pam to her dad. Had you used the same words he said on the show it would have been way too strong even with as fast and wonderful as their relationship is going. I also like that Pam's dad strongly dislikes Roy and took a liking to Jim quickly. Just seems that in the majority of the fics I read Roy has some type of bond with Mr Beesly.

You are such a talented writer and this story is real proof of that!! Thanks for keeping it going!

Author's Response: Hey there, thanks so much for the review! I'm not going to lie, it always makes me giddy when someone mentions to me that they enjoy all the show incorporation in the story. I'm glad you enjoyed the subtle differences that match my own plotline. The Stress Relief stuff I had been waiting a long time to get to and had a lot of fun trying to weave that in to a plausible scenerio. You know, I never really realized that Pam's dad usually has a strong bond with Roy in fics. It never occurred to me that they might. The way I saw it, was that everyone had thought Roy was bad for Pam and it was one of those things you couldn't mention until Pam figured it out for herself. I always liked to think that Pam's dad wanted more for her and I liked the idea that he saw that right away in Jim. Thanks so much for wonderful compliments, I hope you enjoy what's coming next. :)

GREAT chapter! I REALLY love this story and I can't tell you just how happy I am that even though you took a long break from it, you came back to continue it rather than leaving us hanging like so many stories that remain unfinished do.

I have to say, you show Alex for the creap I always thought that he was on the show. Good job with that. I mean, who is Alex to, after just meeting Pam n hour or two before this, give her a big speech on what she should do with HER life, something he knows NOTHING about. I thnk we all know that Jim will be the first one to insist that Pam go to Pratt (if that's what SHE wants to do) and he'll be the one to ease her fears and show her their relationship will work just fine long distance.

I love that you are showing that unlike on the show when it took Jim and Pam FOREVER to get things together in their relationship, you are showing an instant connection, like they know they are soul mates and are already taking each other into consideration when thinking about future plans. Let's face it, Pam has time to think about Pratt but I can see why after dealing with a horrible relationship and first marriage, why when she finds a man who she not only has an instant connection with, but he also treats her fantastic, well I can see why she would feel the need to consider that when making plans for her future. Also, I think at the beginning of a relationship when everthing is new and you can't get enough of each other, it would be VERY disappointing to find out that your new love has to cancel plans and be away a few days, ESPECIALLY when you are having a bad day AND the festival, somethimh you worked so hard on, feels like it's falling apart. I sense that from close to the time Pam met Jim in this story, he became her rock. I mean, she was disappointed he had to go but she accepted it, she never asked him not to.

I love that Jim decided to not take the Toronto assignment because he wanted to be with Pam. I'm sure that it shows her just how much he cares for her even here at the start of their relationship. Also, it was a great way to improve Pam's mood and day also putting to rest any even tiny doubs she may nave had because of what that twerp Ryan said.

I cannot tell you how glad I am that Jim's phone went dead and he didn't hang up on her.

I'm eager to see if Pam introduces Jim to her parents. I hope she does and she takes him to lunch with them. I'm also hoping that Alex get the opportunity to see Jim and Pam together and see what a great connection they have and therefore see that whether she goes to Pratt or not, he has no chance!

This was another fanastic chapter. I absolutely cannot wait for the next one. I swear, this story is so good it feel like you could take to 100 or more chapters! (Though I suspect you probably won't want to do that!!!) REALLY GREAT!

Author's Response: Hey there, thanks so much for the lovely review! I'm glad you've gotten so much out of it and from what I can tell, you've really nailed what I've been trying to present on the head. I'm not sure if I"ll have 100 chapters, doubt the show will last that long, but I'm going to try to keep going until the series ends. Thanks again! :)

::::sigh:::: Another GREAT chapter!

First, sorry I'm really behind on my reviews of this. I have some serious health problems then to top it off my little girl had her 10th birthday (though being a horrid mom I STILL don't have her party planned) and I've been really sick so just not up to par at all! Darn real life for keeping me from my duties as a faithful reviewer! Anyhow, sorry!

Loved this chapter... Of course I love them all, BUT... I like how for a moment or two it seems like things are just seeming to settle down for Jim and Pam, and boy do they deserve it! Oh and I NEED to say, I again love how many things were incorparated into this chapter from the show. The dreaded semi public sex by the Phyllis and Bob (now that is a mental picture I could live without!) the terrible awful no good very bad Charles Minor! (Gee, can you tell I have kids? If you don't know why I said all that, it's part of the name of a children's book!) Anyhow, HATED Charles. I mean, what good could he possibly be when he seemed to hate Jim yet really liked Dwight?! Getting rid of Charles Minor. I REALLY am wondering how you'll pull off Michael and Pam quitting, I mean, starting a museam isn't something they could really do but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Anyhow, I'm sure there are more similarities with the show but that's what my foggy head can think of right now. Okay...

Bob and Phyllis in a park restroom... ewwwww... just... ewwww!!! But then the thought of doing something as a double date with them after hearing that, or in Pam's case just knowing about it, can't see it happening.

Poor Micheal, JUST like him actually, even after being shot down, and despite Holly being a board member, he simply cannot put the matter to rest and just has this need to come up with wacky ideas to make it happen! THIS, BTW, was a brilliant way to incorparate the whole golden ticket idea into the story!

I have to say, you managed to make Charles, in just this one meeting, more repulsive to me than he was on the show. I mean, to start with, unless he has something to hide, why shouldn't press be welcomed in his meetings? Then the grandstanding, we're cutting costs yet I'm buying everyone dinner and oh yeah, it's of course more important than what you guys have planned... ICK! His TOTALLY condescending attitude towards Pam I mean, who could stand to work for a guy like this?

Sorry if this isn't my most coherent review... blame the meds I'm taking! :o) You are doing such an amazing job on this story! I can't wait to read more and fid out how Micheal and Pam get themselves out of the situation they've put themselves in. I keep thinking back to Jim telling her if she doesn't have a job she always has him. (Or something like that. At least I'm pretty sure that was said!) Anyhow! Keep up the fantastic work! Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: Hey, ftmill, so sorry to hear that you're not well, I do wish the best for you soon! Thanks so much for the length review, I appreciate such detailed feedback. Bob and Phyllis, lol, I couldn't not reference that. It really is an incredibly disgusting image. I doubt they'll be going on any double dates any time soon. The golden ticket stuff was a pain to figure out how to incorporate, so I'm glad that worked so well for you. I kinda had to make Charles worse here than on the show due to the fact that I had less time to deal with him. The worse he is, he more likely that they'll a) quit within meeting him and b) decided to get rid of him. Anyway, you're correct, the cool thing about Pam now is how she's grown with her confidence and, yes, if all else fails, she does have Jim to catch her and help her back up. I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter and I hope that you enjoy the future ones as well! Thanks again. :)

This story is awesome. I kept debating if I wanted to keep reading because I really thought it was headed towards a Pam/Toby connection and nothing against Toby but I am hardcore Jim/Pam and even if noy, to me Toby is just WRONG for Pam! Anyhow, SO glad I kept going because this was a Beach Day spin I haven't seen and I just loved it! Thanks!

Author's Response: Thanks :) This is my favorite story that I've written here. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for letting me know!

Oh WOW! Just read this for the first time and it is AWESOME! I really truly hope you will find your way back and continue it, the place it's left off here, it just REALLY needs updated... PLEASE!!! (OK, yeah, I'm pathetically bagging! I really truly hope you will come back to it even though i's been I think a year, but I would REALLY love to see you continue and finish! (Oh and I LOVE how you portray the characters my only exception was I thought it was out of character completely for Jim to behave so extremely during the Halloween stuff. I mean, yep, totally jealous but first, be pissed at Micheal for telling Roy exactly where Pam was, especially when he didn't even know Roy AND, sending her out to Roy who is drunk and agitated and not watching to make sure Pam was safe, when the situation was out of hand enough to warrant her being scared, smacking Roy and summonsing the campud police, judt seems completely out of character for Jim. BUTTTT, it' your vision, your story and I REALLY wand MOOORRREEE......

Author's Response: On the off chance that you still get emails saying that someone responded to your review...I’m here! I’m back! Come read!!
