I'm so blown away by this story.  I love Maria Taylor's "Birmingham 1982" and love how you used the lyrics so subtly.  A song beneath the song (heh, kidding).

Karen in this story just breaks my heart.  I've always liked her well enough, but now when I watch I'm gonna pretend this fic is her canon backstory.  It's all just so perfect.

Oh, it's definitely one of my favorite Maria Taylor songs and when I listen to it, recently I think of Karen, and the song really inspired me to write this.  The title was the first thing I came up with and that never happens!  : )

Wow.  This is absolutely beautiful, and hot, and so many other forms of "amazing" that I could go on and on.  I love the imagery of maps throughout all of them; it's so well-done, and like someone else mentioned, I loved that so many words were carefully chosen--travel and routes and discovery, and you are here, for instance.  I must be in a particularly angsty mood, but 2006 might be my favorite.  Loved the whole thing!  

Author's Response: I hoped little details/ref's like word choice would subtley call back the the map metaphor, without continually hitting that note too hard. So happy to hear that came through for you. Thank you so much for this very generous review, violet!
