Bio:
Okay, first of all I'm a guy-are there any others writing here? Yes, I am of course in love with Jenna Fischer and with the fictional character she has created. And I would totally have a beer and watch some hoops with Jim Halpert.
I've never written romantic stuff in my life; this show just brings it out of me. My stories here are sort of little daydreams that seem somehow therapeutic to me. You can usually count on happy endings from my stuff; plenty of heartache on the actual show.
Other stuff: 37, divorced, two kids, I live in Northern Virginia

This was amazing; it rang so true and you included so many vivid, clever details. The scare the baby line is certainly a classic, and Angela is exactly that person who would complain about someone wearing flip flops to the office. This has been a real treat.
Author's Response: Great to hear this rang true, especially from the male half of the equation ;-) Also glad you enjoyed it - who knew that scare the baby line would be such a hit, lol? Thanks, brokenloon, for such generous comments.

First of all, thank you for the kind words in your notes. So. How lucky am I? This was just as much fun the second and third reads. You know, I've thought about writing a fic with the card before, but I've never been able to wrap my mind around what it might have said. Your version of it here is so perfect and satisfying.
Also nifty was Pam's declaration of not being drunk. That whole scene was so evocative. Poor Jim's heart must have ben going 200 beats per minute when she realzied she had read it.
The fic made my night, and now has made my morning. Thanks again.
Author's Response: Well, once again, thank you for the wonderful feedback *and* for giving me a bit of extra time on this. It was an absolute pleasure writing it for you :)

The block is dead! The block is dead! Surely one of the greatest uses of airport down time ever. I was so excited to see you had posted and grinned my way through the whole story. Per your usual, the scene is vivid and their voices perfect. Well done. Well see - there was this guy who said something like..."C'mon. You don't have some sort of affliction keeping you from writing." It was kind of like Chinese water torture. Except - you know...without the Chinese - or the water. I had to make it stop. :) PS: It looks better now if you wanted to see it without a typo every other sentence. And thank you. :)

Really liked this; I think this is exactly the kind of "angst" they might go through. I guess I see Jim the same way you do...I think he is likely to be easily slighted and quick to take the slightest hesitancy on Pam's part very hard, and that this could cause problems for them. Also I like the way that the shadows of the past sort of get them here, I think that is realistic.
If I can offer a slight criticism...Pam is having an emotional, intense conversation here; I don't think she would be quite as articulate as you make her.
Please keep writing, I enjoy your work.
Jim is feeling insecure and could use a little reassurance from Pam.
A oneshot in two parts.

Really great, very much enjoyed it. More than that, though, it was really thought provoking. I don't know if you intended it this way, but to me Pam comes off rather badly here. She seems to turn her back on him; there's almost an implication of "open up to me or I'll stop loving you." I was angry at her on Jim's behalf. It worked, though, and the confrontation and reconciliation seemed very much in character and realistic. I just am not sure we should try Pam's approach at home.
Author's Response: oooh I did not intend it that way but I really love your view of it. that definitely makes me consider continuing it with one or two additional parts even more. i was approaching it from the POV that Pam doesn\'t want to play games anymore, she\'s been there, done that, she\'s all in, in every way, and she shares her dreams with Jim and just wants the same in return. She\'s not going to settle for less than that anymore. That\'s sort of the FNB that I think we have seen a ton more of this season. I guess she COULD have been more sensitive, however, and I think that\'d be very interesting to explore.\r\n\r\nhmmm... *strokes chin*\r\n\r\nthanks so much for the thought-provoking response, I seriously appreciate it!

Aww, that was fun. The Toby characterization in S4 has been troubling, and has just made me not want to write Toby at all. What I like most here, though, is your Oscar. He's sort of an unsung, really decent solid guy, and I really appreciate your take on him here.

So glad to see this posted; it was good to read again. What struck me about this is you managed to get the tone just right, sort of somber but not melodramatic, and I love your depiction of Pam here, her natural compassion and her connecton to Jim. Well done.

Really good stuff here...a little bolder Jim than we usually see, but still believable. I'm definiely invested.
Just a little one-shot I actually started a long time ago. It's set immediately post DM Infinity and is a shameless bit of fluff with a pinch of steam. :o)

Nice to see you, girl7. I loved this, of course. I am an absolute sucker for happy Pam. And, as much as I love your work, usually happy Pam doesn't come around until after a lot of hard work and 11 chapters or so. It was nice not to have to work for it this time. My favorite here was the thought of her being comforted by knowing they would be alone together soon. Great stuff.
Author's Response:
Hey, nice to see you as well! (Seriously, I've not had time to post or -- worse yet -- read anything recent that with every review and familiar name, I'm all, "Oh, heyyyyyy! How ARE you?" Sad, I'm sure. :o) )
And you should know that I literally laughed right out loud at your comment about usually having to endure "hard work and 11 chapters or so" before happy Pam emerges -- because that's a spot-on assessment of my usual deranged, angsty stuff).
But this one was an anamoly in that 1) I've been so busy lately that I was almost disturbed by the fact that I had absolutely zero desire to write at all (which is weird for me); 2) then yesterday I suddenly experienced this unexpected surge of that old familiar need to write (i.e. driving home from the store, mind racing with dialogue & bits of plot ideas); 3) I started a new story (not yet posted), then dabbled in a long-neglected WIP (Breathing Out), thinking one of those two would be my next post; and finally 4) stumbled on the skeleton of this one while searching my thumb drive -- had completely forgotten even writing it.
All this rambling to say: I'm so glad you enjoyed it (and the comfort from knowing they'd be alone together soon came straight from my own experience -- it was one of the things that led me to realize that Mr. Girl7 would be the man I'd eventually marry, sappy as it sounds.
Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to review!

Well, wasn't that fun. Great to see Stanley get some sunshine in his life--must have been better than pretzel day. I particularly liked seeing Jim make it happen. I'll look forward to more holiday fics.
Author's Response:
Yes, better than pretzel day, because he didn't even have to stand in line. Plus he had such low expectations for the day that having all these good things happen instead would be fantastic! Next up should be Groundhog Day!
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, brokenloon!

I liked this a lot...the quick pacing worked, and I found Pam's epiphany realistic. I do think, though, that Jim would have quickly become very hopeful the second she showed up at his door under these circumstances, rather than assuming she was just there to lean on him again. That's just a minor complaint, though; I enjoyed this a lot.
Author's Response:
Thank you for the feedback. I was a little worried about how quick the timing was, so I'm happy that you liked it. I agree that Jim might be hopeful when Pam shows up, but when she starts ranting about Roy, he'll be a little crestfallen. I might go back and make that change.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this and leave a comment. My fav author on here, Stablergirl, always mentions you, so I'm happy to have made your notice! :)

Not usually a fan of the second peson format, but this is tremendous. The characteization is somehow just perfect; the vision you depict here feels just right to me. I like the overall impression you give of slightly imperfect happiness and the little details too, like Jim butchering the laundry folding. Excellent work.
Author's Response: I do think that Jim and Pam are smart enough (and hell, have been *through* enough) to recognize that perfect love doesn\'t exist...Loving someone because of (and not in spite of) their odd imperfections (such as terrible laundry folding abilities) is where it\'s at. And your review made my day because that\'s exactly what I was trying to hint at! Thanks, brokenloon!

Well, the famine is over and now we feast. This was adorable, love the little bits of awkwardnes and shadows of the past making themselves felt, but no much as to really cut them down. "I'll start to change if you'll change back"...awesome.
While I won't admit to an addiction, it is possible that my TV might have landed on ANTM at times last night.

Uh huh. Likely story. Your TV just "landed" on ANTM at times last night. Completely of it's own volition I'm sure.

While fluffy, this is still so on target and perceptive. I think they both would be constantly wary of it breaking, disappearing. And even after their struggles of the past year, they still have that long history of friendship and familiarity to fall back on, so it's as if some aspects of the relationship were already in place. Keep going!
Author's Response:
My sentiments exactly. Well. I wouldn't have said it exactly the way you just have - but that's exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you so much for letting me know you got it.
Here's hoping I can keep going. I'm certainly going to try.

I agree--Cheer up, emo fangirl! So glad to have you writing something like this, because I'm a wimp when it comes to dark and angsty, but I do love your writing. This is great of course...actually Jim and Pam, rather than random steamy chcaracters on whom the author slpas the names Jim and Pam.
Author's Response: Thanks! To be honest, I wasn't even talking about my Office stories -- some of them are a little sad, but almost all of them end happily -- but the really ridiculous stuff I wrote six or eight years ago in other fandoms. Death and doom galore! (Though to be honest, both of my first fandoms had the constant threat of an apocalypse hanging over them, so possibly it was warranted. *g*)

I will be doing some doubling down tomorrow, let me tell ya'. What a vivid and dramtic scene you give us here. You really capture how terribly difficult it is for these two to communicate and the terse, halting way they express themselves when they try. Wonderfully done.
Author's Response:
Thank you. It was difficult to go back there and revisit it, because I always find myself wanting to put tons of words in their mouths. But in reality I think they wouldn't say too much right away. So glad it came across.

Well, I like my fluff and perfect Pam but still thought this was pretty great. I think your take on how Pam might think and react here was spot on, and of course the writing has the patented Stablergirl flair that I love so much. Looking forward-perhaps with a little nervousness given your warnings of darkness-to more.
Author's Response: lol Brokenloon!! Hello! Thanks for reviewing this one! I'm not gonna lie, your nervousness might be warranted, but I love when you review so just pretend I didn't say that and let me have it. I should probably be sending this to you to beta...hm...
Date: February 23, 2008 Title: Chapter 5: Don't worry.
Well, two chapters for the price of one I guess. Kind of like we got to see a deleted scene. Not sure which I prefer. This story is vintage Stablergirl stuff, really evocative and dramatic and interesting. I'm very invested.
Author's Response: haha a deleted scene. I thought this version was older, I guess, more relaxed and refined. Who knows, you can never really pick one over another, really, they're just different. Anyway glad this has you invested, because I wasn't sure you'd be into this one and lord knows I die over a "vintage" stamp from brokenloon ;-) Thanks.

And of course it is always a pleasure to read your writing...your descriptive powers and the sense of dram you create are always amazing. Well done.
Author's Response: Thank you very much sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar. ;-) Glad you liked the destination if not the journey.
