This will be a series of self-contained chapters (oneshots) exploring various "what ifs" pertaining to episodes spanning seasons one through three. Each chapter will examine how things would've gone differently if either Jim or Pam had responded to a given situation the way that (most) fans had wanted or almost expected them to.
For example, the first chapter focuses on how things would've happened differently if Jim had confessed during those twenty-seven seconds of silence on the booze cruise when we were all holding our breath and hoping he would.
Among the other chapters I have mapped out: What if all the reminders of Jim in "Gay Witch Hunt" had provoked not a small, sad smile from Pam at the end of the episode, but rather, had motivated her to take action -- drive to Stamford to see him for the first time in four months? Or what if Jim had responded to Pam's text in "Diwali" via a post-Jagermeister phone call? What if Jim had walked in on Pam crying at the end of "Back From Vacation"? (...You get the idea.)
Again, though, each chapter will be confined to an episode, so it will essentially be a series of oneshots that are unrelated to each other.
okay, so all summer, i've kind of felt like something was missing around here. everything that's been posted on this site is always great but something just felt...weird. this was the missing piece. season 2 is always the place to go back to...you almost need that heartbreaking angst to get to your happy ending, and you, girl7, are definitely one of the great writers of those fics. and so i salute you and i look forward to reading many, many more of these self-contained stories. yay!

If you aren't sick to death of tales about such an historic event, here's one more version - told to you by the daters themselves.This is a really, really great story. It somehow feels different from all the other first date stuff. I love the detail you put in, like we really get to see every aspect of the evening. I look forward to much much more.

I just love living a Disney experience through the DM gang. It's so much fun. And those turkey legs that Stanley was eating? Those gross me out so much! I usually go in the summer, and watching someone eat a turkey leg at noon on a 95 degree day makes me squirm. (I much prefer the Mickey-head ice cream bars). I am very excited about the rest of this story :-)

Um, I'm starting to think we should be best friends. Between your love of Disney, and choosing that song from Muppets Take Manhattan, (which may be on my top 10 movie list), I am loving this story more and more every time I read it. Also, I think that almost-proposal would have been the cutest thing ever.
I LOVE Epcot! Very excited about visiting all the countries. I'm a little nervous about Michael though....yikes. He may be overwhelmed by all the "diversity."
This was a good chapter...and I have to say that my scores on the Buzz Lightyear right are unfortunately similar to those of Andy and Dwight. I suck at that...although I'm convinced that some of them are rigged to get millions of points. I once started with 10000 points or something. It was weird. Anyhoo, I hope I'm not raining on your parade or anything, but I kind of hope Jim doesn't propose during the fireworks and stuff. I feel that would be kind of...cliche. And while it was totally cool to have seen one of those proposals (on the deck of the California Grill...that was cool), I think Jim would want to be more creative. But if he's desperate enough and is out of plans....AHH. You make me so confused. So just post the next chapter before I lose my mind. (That was me "inspiring you to hurry in posting it.")

Epilogue was ADORABLE. Sorry for lack of reviews on the last few chapters...MTT logs me out once in a while and generally speaking, I'm too lazy to log back in to post a review. But the end was so cute with the note.

What a great story. I like your "Jim is Jewish" stories a whole lot. I'm Protestant, so I really know nothing about Judaism, so these stories are not only really great Jim/Pam wise, but they are also really great learning experiences for me too! I hope you add more stories to this not-offical series you have going here. (Is it official? If not, you should make it official!)
Author's Response: thanks so much! it's definitely not an official series, but you can sure count on more 'jim is jewish' touches in my stories when applicable. also, i must confess to NOT being jewish (in case i haven't said that yet). i've had two jewish significant others and i've always been very interested in judaism, but i'm no talmudic scholar. so! i do my research. i've had one person tell me that their holidays are like this - so i feel validated at least a little :) thanks so much for your feedback, seriously. much appreciated.
I totally watched the marathon. Like...6 of the 15 hours. How embarrassing is that? But in my defense, I decided to write a paper on the show...we'll see how that turns out.
That being said, good chapter! I'm excited for the end. Although one thing: Why didn't Nick ask for a hug? (hee jk) He always kind of perv-ily does that with the pretty girls.
