After all the debate on this chapter, I think it turned out nicely! Realistic that she wouldn't stay this way. Okay, looking forward to a dramatic ending over the next 3 days! ;)

And he desperately hoped she was the one who sent the white box As do we all, Jim, as do we all. Angsty Jim listening to music and hoping she's doing the same. God, I love his girly side! Looking forward to day 2...

So, when will Karen be getting the heave-ho? Another chapter as sweet as - well - Dove chocolate! Yum...

Author's Response: Karen's not leaving - all three are going to end up joining a commune in Wilkes Barre....

French? Ben gay rubs? Do you stay awake at night thinking this stuff up? Great stuff. This line - “You need to just get her out on the court, man. A little one-on-one and your smack talk would sort the two of you right out.” Took me right back to "The Fight" when he picked her up in the dojo. They need a little physical contest that leads to more touching and then leads to bed. There, I said it. ;)

Author's Response:

They need a little physical contest that leads to more touching and then leads to bed. There, I said it.

Yes, you did.  And it needs to be said more often.  :-)

Do I stay awake thinking this stuff up?  Yea, but it's really no trouble.  No trouble at all.

Follow Mark's advice! Kiss the hell out of her! Looks like Karen's becoming a nuisance. Those rebounds are great for a while...

Author's Response: I think Mark's wisdom just hasn't been showcased enough on this show.  There's a reason he's always had a girlfriend...

"the swift kick Jim needed to set things in motion" Go Mark! And go Karen! No, really, I mean it, just go. Go to NY with your fancy friends and let Jim and Pam get to it. Next chapter!

Author's Response: I'm sure Karen will do just fine with her NYC friends.  Jim prefers things a little simpler, and with more cleavage. ;-)

I think I might be hungry for Greek food tonight. Didn't I hear you mentioned a new place called Steve's the other day? Starting to hanker are we? ;-) Better hurry up and finish this before you leave town! Another satisfying chapter - ice cream, stubble, self-pleasuring Jim with the kung-fu grip...

Author's Response:

self-pleasuring Jim with the kung-fu grip...

I hear Mattel is bringing a line of Office Action Figures out this spring.  Hope they remember to add that one!  :-)

And there's nothing wrong with adding a bit of my own life and preferences into the story, now is there?  ;-)

Vignettes II by Colette Rated: M [Reviews - 41] 13
Summary:

A few light bits and pieces I'd accumulated (have written enough angst lately, thanks.) Since they were just languishing, I figured I'd resurrect Vignettes and send them out into the world. Each is a stand-alone, NOT a chapter in a work-in-progress, so feel free to jump in and out. (I'm thinking there will be 3-5 pieces, but will have to see how the mood strikes me.)

If I owned these characters, would I be writing this stuff? Seriously. No copyright infringement is intended.

I loved this little 'slice of life' involving a slice of cake. *insert groan here* So great how Pam took the time to call his mom and make his favorite cake and how he appreciates it and how Pam can just make all his stress disappear. Awesome. But the most original part? Is your prank idea! Convincing Dwight that Michael has been replaced by his evil twin? Sheer brilliance! Let's get on that! After the birthday party, of course...

Author's Response: Yes, let's do it - I'll have my people call Greg Daniels' people and set up a meeting. Now if only they could have their cake and eat it too on the show (insert another groan here.) Oh well, birthdays should be frivolous...and this certainly was. Thanks for joining me at the party!

‘Good. Let’s get you home and into a bath.’
I love how you've used this line but now in a scenario in which Jim gets to experience the ecstasy and not the agony of the past. I loved this line too "You can resume your regularly scheduled program of manhandling and talking dirty to me then". I love the playful repartee between them. Feels so real and sexy in a fun way! Thanks for finally posting these! I'll await more breathlessly.

Author's Response: Have to admit, the 'You can resume...' line is my favorite too (figures you would pick that out.) More to come - I think the next one might be the really M one in my pile of unused scenes...you think? Thanks, as always, for being such a great partner in crime!

Yummy! What's better than hours and hours of sex and love and steamy innuendo and the thought of those two crazy kids finally, ecstatically happy? Nothing! And I loved this:

‘Well, for one thing, I’ve never slept with a married woman before, so that’ll be kind of exciting.’ It tickled me because not only can I picture Jim saying it, it's exactly the sort of thing my hubby would say. As usual, this totally kicked ass! Thanks, Colette.

Author's Response: As usual, Par5, thanks for being such an avid reader and reviewer. And once again, you zoomed in on one of the lines I had lying around that I was dying to use somewhere. And of course, thanks for joining me in this trip down fluffer lane...you know it's only a matter of time  before I make a U-turn back to Angst-ville. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying wallowing in a little ecstastic happiness, deep in the land of If Only.

I was halfway through reading the quote at the beginning before I realized it was from that movie! I thought it was something you brilliantly composed for this story! But it perfectly describes what should happen between the two of them. If not for New Year's, perhaps for MLK Day? Valentine's? Arbor Day?

Thanks lis! Nice job and love the sentiment. TELL HIM!!!!!!

Author's Response:

Hah, I wish I were that brilliant. It's my favorite NYE movie quote, definitely!

She needs to step up, doesn't she? So we can all have some resolution!! :)

Just the kind of thing that's probably eating away at her. I tried to resist reading until more was posting because I so hate to be a nag, hugs, but what's gonna happen next? Pretty please??!! ;)

Author's Response: I loved her saying that - because c'mon.  Kinda true!!!  Poor Pam.  I seriously want to lock the two of them in a room together and let them go at it.

Author's Response: Don't be blue! I truly believe we'll get to the sweet after we pass through the bitter. I have no idea where these notions come from, though- thank you for liking them!

As usual, Colette, you rock my world! Thinking about them cohabitating after the near misses we've had lately? What a great idea. Clothing optional? Even better. And of course, you had to work some physics in there as well! Well played...

Author's Response: Well, since he's now living up the street from Ms. Near Miss, I had to do something...clothing totally besides the point. And, I'm sure you think I'm making this up by now, but I SWEAR I know virtually nothing about Physics...don't know what's gotten into me lately with that (clearly it's your influence, darlin'.) Thanks for stopping by and weighing in (physics, again?)

Author's Response:

Hey, me again...I think I just came up with a good excuse for all the physics-talk: because that thing between Jim and Pam is like a force of nature. Corny enough (but, sadly I kind of think true.)

Awww, Paper Jam, there are no words to describe how wonderful this was to come in from the cold for! Like warm tropical breezes caressing my skin. Just delicious. And though they were totally out of their element, they were still completely Jim and Pam the whole time. My only question is where were Jim's parents? Other than that, absolutely perfect! Thanks for this.

Author's Response: Thank you Par5. I do agree about Jim's parents. I had them written in for a while, but ultimately, decided that they kind of gummed up the works. I probably should have given Pam a line asking why they couldn't make it, then Jim could say they had to work or something. Can you retcon your own fanfic? I guess that's why I usually use a beta!

Are you sure you can't squeeze in another epilogue to the epilogue, Paper Jam? Or perhaps some more detail of the rest of the time they were there? I mean, it was a looonnng time and I sure there were other episodes of coconut oil rubbing and moonlight nude bathing, etc... J/K! Lovely as is. Now enjoy that vacation!

Author's Response:

Believe me, I would if I could, but I'm going to be away from my computer for two weeks. However, I'll be in the Caribbean for that time, so maybe I will get inspired for a few epilogues. You never know. Thanks, Par5!

Lis, you've done it again! Swooped in and with a few pithy sentences summed up what takes others pages and pages to get across. Particularly wonderful bits: Life was not easy for Karen, but it was simple. and this She held his gaze. Later, he’d realize that this, even this, was one more chance she was offering him. And of course, I love the outcome!

The she that was his, for just a second, is still in his arms. But she’s a ghost now. Oh man, Colette. You're still evoking pain from that night, just when my therapy was starting to work! He's never really left at all. So true. The pain is still there. Their ability to be good together (seamlessly, without a WORD, pulling the prank on Andy) is still there. Nothing's changed. Beautiful! And need I point out that you've managed to use physics yet again with your references to black holes, space, etc. Actually, you've advanced to astrophysics! Just proves my opinion that you're a genius! ;-)

Author's Response: So sorry to reverse your therapy. If they don't get those two kids together soon, I think we're going to have to write a self-help book for obsessive fans. Really, it's getting almost masochistic to watch! Glad you liked this, even if you do need to increase your meds as a result. Re: astrophysics...WHAT is up with me? Very mysterious. Either it's your influence, or clearly I was Galileo in my former life. Anyway, wrote this faster than the speed of light (there I go again!) so I'm pleased it worked for you. And that you found it (was buried within hours.) Thanks, you!
