I really like your opening! The Pam-Dwight relationship is one of those veins I hope the writers really get back into, and I love the idea of enriching the way that interaction in "Back from Vacation" unfolded - he was perfectly Dwight and yet completely heroic (!) and ... I can really buy that he would tell Pam something like, "You're too nice to let anyone make you cry."
Your description of Pam's sadness, too, the way that weights you down & invades your sleep but then keeps you awake... very detailed.
I DEFINITELY want to see how you continue this!

You know what, GodInThisChilis? I am hating you now, because I've just read all these chapters in a row like a little piglet turned loose on a pint of ice cream, and now... there is no "Next" button at the bottom of the page, only "Previous"!! So, I don't know what kind of magic you do, exactly, but this... this is amazing. You've basically reinvented one of the greatest episodes (for me), in a most perfect way. Fantastic merge of cannon events with AU, and a lovely online community you've invented here, as well. Bravo!!
And, you know, can you just write the rest all in about the next 10 minutes? I'm dying here...
