Bio:
20-something fangirl; I've only really had two other fandoms (X-Files and House MD) so I tend to be pretty loyal to my 'ships.
Obviously JAM is my number one interest on The Office, but I also enjoy Jim/Katy, Jim/Karen, and Pam/Roy for the insights into Jim and Pam they provide. Kelly/Ryan and Michael/Jan are interesting too- but I really only have time for one main interest on the show, so JAM it is!
Love reading well-written fic (which this site is a treasure trove of) and tend to leave somewhat analytical reviews- a remainder from writing for a literary criticism magazine. I do intend it to be of interest to the author though because from the few fics I've written I enjoyed getting meaty feedback more than 'OMG totes awesome BUT WRITE MOAR!!1!' reviews :)
If I move from writing House!fic to writing JAM!fic, I'll be sure to share it; everyone here is fantastic and I'd love to contribute.
Oh, if anyone is looking for a beta (grammar, flow of the story, character development), ask away!
I use the same username on LJ and Metafilter, I'm on Reddit under occidental_inkling.

"That hospital is really generous."
In the midst of all the fluff, lines like this keep it SO Jim/Pam.
Author's Response: Thank you! That was one of the first parts written - glad you liked it!

This series amazes me because it is so fluffy it's weightless yet remains substantial.. hopefully that makes sense. I love people figuring out a way to have it all by not trying to have it all at the same time. Ooooh, I have a trip idea and I'll message you so as not to leave a HUUUUUge review.
Author's Response: Thanks, and yeah I totally get what you mean. This story has been all about having fun, and showing the more lighthearted side of things. I just can\'t do angst and drama after the writers of the show have driven it into our heads repeatedly over the course of the year that Jim and Pam are meant to be together, and I can\'t imagine them being anything but deliriously and ridiculously happy together all the time. Oh who knows, maybe I\'ll channel my inner sadist and send them into a bitter divorce to close out the series... Kidding! Oh, and I never got your message, but be sure to let me know your thoughts on what kind of trip they should take. I\'m still open to ideas. Sadly, I have not even started on the next chapter. (Shh, don\'t tell! Ha-ha.) Thanks for the review.

I love it. I'm SO glad you're keeping a steady pace with the storyline, it seems more natural. It can't be all fluff all the time while they work towards their happy ending (I hope!). I thought Pam doing certain things with the kids automatically without thinking is realistic because she may not remember events or people while keeping her physical memory i.e. cleaning up the kitchen in the same order she used to, packing up at the park. Pam falling back into such routines would ease everyone into thinking she was 'back' until an event reminded them otherwise. Yeah, definitely in love with this story especially since your updates are nice and long :)
And congratulations!
Author's Response: I\'m so happy that the pace is good. I personally don\'t like when it\'s too rushed or when it drags, so I\'m constantly worrying that I\'m doing it. And yes... my fics have happy endings... it will take a while, but they will reach their ideal Jim and Pam place. I\'m glad you noticed that I\'m having Pam rememberign how to do things, but it still is a fragile situation. And one more thing... I\'m relived that you mentioned the length of the chapter. I always worry (you can ask my Betas) that it\'s too long... I\'m scared of overwhelming ppl with too much plot and information. And thank you for reviewing and reading. \r\n-\r\nThanks for the congratulations as well =)

It smelled like the interior of the copier, which Pam was already fairly intimate with.: lol :)
Finally a fic that works that line in! For that line to have been Dwight's first comment, he obviously spent a fair amount of time thinking about it. Thanks for using it! There were some killer lines in here, glad you made good use of your long weekend writing this :)
Author's Response: I\'ve been trying to think of something it would fit in, and this was probably the least nefarious way I came up with. :) And so many times we see the characters taking simple joy in things, I am sure Dwight was so pleased that he was right about that he didn\'t even care that they probably left the supplies in complete disorder. Glad you enjoyed it.

I'm driving myself crazy shrieking "no polyurethane! no!" :) Can't wait for the rest.
Author's Response: You weren\'t getting shrill, were you? *laughs* Thanks for reading and reviewing variella - I hope you enjoy the conclusion. It may get a little messy.

Fluff is really all Jim and Pam should be doing right now anyway :) I think you write Jim very well. Lovely and I have no idea why only ten people have reviewed so far!
Author's Response: It is true, there should be nothing but fluff right now. Well, I wouldn't mind smut. Smuff. Whatever, haha. I'll leave that up to the pros. Thanks for the review. :)
Set in Season 5, so spoilers up through that entire season.

PLEASE take this as a compliment.
Jim hadn’t been this happy in years
LOLOLOLOL infinity! This probably describes every male who has started having sex in high school with someone as enthusiastic as he is. Also? I've always planned to nail shut every window in the house if I have teenagers. And deadbolt all the doors while owning the only key (hopfully the house won't catch fire or there'll be trouble).
Poor Jim. Probably the most traumatic thing that can happen to anyone is trusting someone to just listen and then being someone else thinks the worst things you think about yourself.
By the way, this is pretty great. A lot of it is OC, but the wording of the thoughts and dialogue are still pretty Jim-ish. I have no idea why you don't have more reviews...
Author's Response: Thank you for the compliments...much appreciated. I totally agree about the "happy in years" comment. That line struck me funny when I wrote it, because yeah, duh!, of course he's happy. He's 18 and he's having regular sex - LOL!
I definitely struggled with the OC element when writing. But I think we're all a little "OC" when we're teenagers vs. how we are as adults. I started seeing teenage Jim as a confused, hyper kid who, through various experiences in his youth, was forcibly calmed down into the low key guy we know today. I think he's starting to show more of the Jim we know in my "The Second Girl" chapter. Although some of the innner monologue and the swearing is still pretty OC.

Oh, one more thing: I'm 31 (Jim's somewhere 28-31, right?), and I don't think people even 4 or 5 years younger really get that there was NO easy access to porn or information other than other people or parent's magazines or siblings, so you weren't exactly online with a thousand other teenagers talking about the same thing Jim is thinking. And this is all before the whole talking about sex in public became more common- I mean, this is YEARS before the Monica Lewinsky thing (which I think really blew the doors open). Just wanted to mention this is way more like how I was as a teenager than getting 24/7 porn off the computer in my bedroom that my younger cousins always had.
Author's Response: Amen! This was a HUGE part of the point I was trying to make with that chapter. I'm nearly 36 and I completely agree...finding porn was akin to finding a needle in a haystack when we were kids. If we weren't lucky enough to find some adult's porn stash, we were limited to that cable porn channel that didn't quite come in, but if we stared at the screen long enough and unfocused our eyes, we could MAYBE see a boob. And OCCASIONALLY we'd hear a few seconds of moaning.
These kids today have it soooo easy ;)
