This will be a series of one-shots that take place after an episode, in no particular order, for as long as I continue to have ideas.I always like it when Roy is written as a real person and with redeeming values as well as douchbaginess. It makes you realize why Pam had such a difficult time breaking it off with him. This was a beautifully done illustration of that - Pam thinks of Jim fondly when Roy's being a jerk and then he goes and does something redeeming.
This was very nicely done, Callisto. I especially liked this: Nobody ever looked at her like Jim did

Oh, Steph, I love your Toby stories. I don't hate Gabe though. You write Gabe quite well, despite your dislike. Fave part: I could just hear this coming out of Andy:
“I don’t care about that now, Toby!” Andy yelled. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and said, “Gabe is freakishly tall and thin and has a weird shaped head. He’s a stick insect and there is no way that the beautiful fair maiden Hannon would ever date a stick insect.”

Most of the time she's happy.This is the quintessential Pam showing her head - the one who can never quite be sure. Liked it very much.
I really liked this line:." I inhaled her baby scent – a mix of milk and talcum powder and whatever it was that made my baby my baby" It rang true. Babies do have their own unique scent.

Aw, stjoe's, that was wonderful. It really rings true that it's some little tiny thing that almost always trips the balance in something big like this.
I'm so sorry about your folks - it's true not every couple is dysfunctional, (but none are perfect) Learn from them what not to do, and apply that to your future. And good luck with the loofa.

Guh. I am in love with your giddy, sweet, drunk Jim. This is canon, as far as I'm concerned. You've managed to express his wonder at the moment without making it maudlin, and it's totally in character. What a treat to read.

I really enjoyed this! I agree with andtheivy, the line "it's just ....self preservation" is perfect. I can hear that particular bit of truth coming right out of Jim's mouth. The important dialogue is sparse - very fitting for them during that time.

Jim takes a drive to ask an important question.Awww, your Nervous!Jim is adorable, and very believeable. I might never have pegged Jim for an "ask the parents" sort of guy, except for that talking head where he mentions he wants to do well to impress Pam's parents - which means he's really a very traditional guy in a lot of ways. Fun read. My favorite part was the "he would find out 34 years later ..." bit.

Pam comes home to a sick husband and baby after a hard, frustrating day.
Oooh, I hadn't had time to read fic for awhile and I come here tonight and see this! Woot! You've written Pam so organically here - her frustration with a husband with a "man cold" really rang true. So many times Jim Halpert is portrayed as the perfect guy, and I like stories where he is a typical flawed guy (and sometimes kind of a wuss) - and then that one act of thoughtfulness (his strong suit) redeems him. Pam is much tougher than Jim, I think.. I like the "Pam fights failure as the office manager" arc and this story fits perfectly into it. Frankly, I enjoyed this much more than I did the episode. LOL
Author's Response: Man, did you ever just nutshell Jim, or what! So, SO true. Not perfect - but so thoughtful when he puts his mind to it...and thankfully for Pam - she is often on his mind. It's interesting because I'm not sure at the beginning of the series I would have agreed that Pam was "tougher", but looking back now honestly there was a toughness even in her "weaknesses". She put up with a lot of crap for a long time (though I guess one could argue it was self-inflicted crap)...anyway - yes, love your comments. Thanks so much for the review!
