AWWWWWWWWWWW. O this is so sweet. So warm. Loved his teasing his daughter about the "fuzzy". Loved his catching the kiss and returning it later. The thing about Jim I love the most is the hint of domesticity beneath the surface, that this is an ordinary guy looking for an ordinary life with a family and a woman he loves. He has always struck me as the kind of guy who would be more focused on his family than his career, who would make a great dad. Thanks for fleshing out (ahem) my fantasy Jim.

Awwww on that last one. Too cute and wonderful and warm. But the one that really slayed me was the fourth one, where she visits him in the waiting room and he covers her hand with his. Makes me wonder if they wouldn't do something like that on the show--using a crisis in the life of Jim or Pam to finally re-unite them. From your keyboard to Greg Daniels' ear, no? Thanks for a really nice fic.

Author's Response: I would love something like this on the show, so they can realize how much time they're wasting dancing around each other. Even though I'm enjoying it. I'm conflicted.

This is probably the way Jim and Pam would end in real life, so congrats for doing it so realistically and convincingly. I love it that the only picture she kept was the one from his high school yearbook that he gave her. I imagine there could have been plenty of other pictures from those years that she could have kept, but that one was the one HE gave her, so she hangs onto it. Thanks for giving her her art career and her terrace! 

He was the only other person on the planet who had ever seen her come.

I like the way this sentence, all by itself, explains so much about Pam.

Okay, I figured out that this was actually an Alternate Universe story when you dissed my man David Duchovny's acting abilities. :-D

This story was hilarious. I love Dwight saying he can carry an entire dead bison. And speculating on breakup sex--does that even exist? And Jim's "It doesn't matter now that we've both figured out we're gay". And Todd Packer walking in on them....great! Very funny. So few people write comedy about this sitcom, and it's wonderful to find some! Thanks very much.

"one man's motel art is another man's treasure".  That is SUCH a Michael Scott line! Love it!

If you continue this, I would be very interested to see if Pam comes to realize that what's wrong with her art is not lack of skill (her reflections re whether she should re-take Drawing 101) but her lack of heart, as Gil so clearly saw. Seeing her change her life as a result of increasing openness to her vision as an artist would be a VERY compelling story!

Superb, as always. You don't write enough. Your work is crack cocaine to me, and I'm in withdrawal most of the time.

Much as I would like to quote every single line of this and point out how wonderful they all are, these particularly stand out:

her spiraling staircases of hair

It’s delicate, breakable.

he chuckles, always over romanticizing everything (how very Jim of him -- self-aware but still doing it)

I love how you compress so much into so few words. I love the silence between them speaking as loudly as their (few) words. I love the idea of an elopement--I think that after the disaster of her prolonged engagement to Roy and the chaos of her wedding planning, Pam would be relieved not to have to go through all of that again just to be with the man she loves. 

Anyway, I could babble on forever in effusive praise, but I'll just end with a heartfelt thanks. This is going in my Favorites.

Oh I LOVE the conversation between Pam and Jim where they're pretending to be back in junior high. "I think you're rad". Rad??? Get outta here! What an adorkable story.

she blurted in a small voice, "I really wanna kiss you again."

That sounds so much like Pam. :)
