The ending of this chapter just prompted my first ever review on this site.

That was just mean.

But aside from the cruelty of that... I do need to tell you that I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for this story! It's great and I just can't wait to read more! Especially right now;-)

Author's Response:

Wow, thanks!  I'm honored! ;-)

I'm glad you've enjoyed this.  I hope you like the last chapters as well.  Thanks so much for reviewing!

Please tell me Pam eventually asks Jim about what happened with Packer! I'm so excited to get some more of this! Just awesome! Oh! And the last line

Then, Pam felt a hand slide slowly down to her ass. “Kevin!

I know I should have reviewed AGES ago because I've been terribly addicted to this story, but this line...

"Pam does not need to concern herself with any of Jim's organs."

HA! Awkward much? Awesome. I am so in love with this story.

Author's Response:

To show you how clueless I am... I wrote that and didn't even realize the innuendo until I read your "awkward much?" I was like "Wha?" And then I went "OH MY GOD! I talked about JIM'S ORGAN!" It was supposed to be a throwaway line to set up for the next laugh. HOLY CRAP! I LOVE that that was the line that made you post! Otherwise I would have never had a clue! Whew. Now I can act all cool about it and be like "Yeah, I meant that!"

From:JHalpert

Don’t worry. I turned him down. I told him the truth. I’m not planning on getting married for a long, long time. I played the “I’m enjoying being young with no responsibilities” card.

Nicely played, Jim! Nicely played!

Author's Response:

And who says Jim sucks at Poker? He wanted Pam to win at the Casino tables. He knew she wasn't bluffing. Now, Karen... Jim secretly wants Karen to lose. We all know it. Don't we? Are you listening to me, Karen? He's not going to call your bluff, girlfriend! Why don't you pack up your chips while you're still ahead and move to another table!

I'm upset at Karen right now because she got to give Jim kissing lessons. Ugh.

I don't even know how many times I've read this now and it's still just as amazing as the first time. I LOVE that you took these moments that were so angsty because of how unrequited they looked from Jim's POV and showed us what was really happening. It's a bittersweet kind of victory, because we realize, like Pam does, that even though the moments mean the world to her/us, they don't count for anything if Jim doesn't know. Just heartbreaking:-) I'm already waiting anxiuosly for part 4!!!

Author's Response: Thank youuuuuu! All I can think of right now is a post-Cocktails fic though! Talk about a fanfic writers dream episode, eh?

I'm really sorry I just saw that I hadn't responded.  My southern sensibility won't have that!   I'm sorry for the cliffhanger, I honestly didn't think it was, but reading it through the readers' eyes it clearly was.  Hope I made up for it!

It feels like he’s living in a snow globe that’s just been vigorously shook. The chaos of the original quaking is over, but he’s still floating through the water. He hasn’t come down yet. His feet haven’t hit the base of the globe. He’s just drifting in the midst of the pieces of his world, which are similarly uprooted and drifting with him.

Wow. I LOVE this metaphor! It's... wow. I really love that. (I have no words, I just do.)

I don't know that it's necessary to express how happy I am that Karen's out of the picture... I mean, you know, with all my love for her...

 Ha.

In all seriousness, I love how you have her walk away, because really, it's the feminist part of me that hates her, and it's because she just seems so pathetic/sad for holding on to something that she obviously can't have. It is slightly redeeming that she walks away from it all.

 Slightly.

But anyway, as always, I loved.

Chapter 6?

Author's Response:

I *thought* you might like the snow globe thing, because you tend to like my metaphors, which makes me happy :)

However, what does surprise me is that you were able to find anything slightly redeeming in Karen. I feel like a miracle worker! I want to go out and try to cure AIDS or end poverty! THere's nothing I can't do!

Reviewer: SixFlightsUp Signed 10
Date: March 13, 2007 Title: Chapter 4: Questions and Answers

So happy that I came home to this!!! I'll try to keep my comments slightly abbreviated as to not take up an entire page...

And the earth stops spinning.

Perfectly placed there! That did a great job of making me, as a reader, kinda freeze too. Beautiful!

It’s like saying, “I’m like two minutes away” when someone asks you how close your boyfriend has come to hitting you, or saying “I can’t” when someone tells you they’re in love with you.  Responses that don’t address the issue.  Responses that change the subject and shut down the possibility for further discussion.

I love this because it's just such a perfect explanation of what Pam does and really gets at the frustration of the moment(s) from Jim's POV. Plus it has the added benefit of being SO true to real life!

“No!  I want you to deny it, Pam!” Roy interrupts.  “Turn to Halpert right now and tell him that you didn’t have feelings for him when we were together.”

There is something wrong in the world when drunk Roy is the voice of reason...

“Why can’t you just answer the question?” he demands.

Oooh! Points to Jim! Damn... I forgot what the score was...

Okay, the whole fighting scene. I was reading too intently to comment. There just wasn't time for that. But the 'good GOD was that good!' should just be assumed.

It takes him another second to realize that it came from Karen.

Gotta give it to Karen (take a minute for the shock of me saying that to wear off), that takes balls. To see that scene unfold and think that you have any place to step in and stake some kind of claim? JUST GO HOME BITCH!!!

 Whoops. Sorry.

Anyway, SO AMAZING! SO SO AMAZING! And also, are there awards for the longest mtt review?

Author's Response:

You are awesome. Not only because you just won the "Best Reviewer" Dundie, but also because of your Hooters experience last week. Heh.

As for who won the fight, I think it was Pam, but then Roy joined in even more and I think Karen was the biggest loser somehow. Which you should LOVE. Your Karen comments never cease to crack me up. You ROCK!

Yay! I don't even know how to express how much I love this story! I love the mosquito metaphor you carry throughout. I thought that did a great job of showing us Karen's mindset, or her view on the situation.

How's part 2 coming? I'm dying over here!

Author's Response:

Hahaha! Don't lie--you just wanted me to have him dump her. You were very subtle about your dislike for Karen, but I was somehow able to pick up on it.

I really wanted to say how great it was that you made Karen a likeable character in this!

Ha. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I love the whole thing more and more with every read. I'm honestly having a hard time keeping myself from rereading it while I'm trying to do the neverending work piled next to me... I LOVE Pam and Jim's conversation! I love Jim forgetting how angry he is at Pam as soon as she said Roy was scaring her earlier. I love that even though this is a fight scene, to me the strongest blow was ...

" you can get back to your girlfriend.”

Ouch. Still hurts. Wow, Shan, just wow.

Author's Response:

Hahaha! You can try to hide your love for Karen, but I know the truth. You want to BE her. It's so obvious.

So, besides being pretty much the best beta ever, you also leave awesome reviews. I love that you kept score during the Pam/Jim convo. Pam totally won it with that last line though, you're right. I might be sending you some reeeeally rough dialogue tomorrow, just to see if you think I'm taking this in the right direction. 'Cause, you know, I want Jim and Karen to end up together and I figure that you'll support me 100% on that.

KIDDING. Don't send me nasty emails.
