I really love the line This is turning into the sexual equivalent of the Donner party. It's so clever, but not *too* clever to be authentic to Toby.

All the lights are changing red to green. From denial to truth in an enclosed space. Spoilers up to Cocktails. Hiatusathon request for Moxie. Hurray! That was really fun to read, with just the right amount of angst to make it believable. I think you struck just the right balance of playfulness and melancholy with Pam. And I particularly liked Jim's sadness that his best friend hadn't noticed he'd been dumped. Nice work!

There were a lot of things that worked well here -- I love that we're getting the roommate's contemptuous response, because it allows for snark and also a slightly squishier side of Ryan. I also love that we're only getting Ryan's side of the conversation; it's a nice dose of Kelly without all of the cliche Kelly dialogue we've read elsewhere.
The bridesmaids will wear red to match the burning, burning fire and That's it. I'm jumping out the fucking window. in particular made me laugh like a banshee.
Heeeeeeee! I think I actually gasped when Dwight Tasered Karen. This has got a great banter-y feel throughout, very authentic to the show and Jim.

Something bad happens to Pam. Very Dark.
I like this story. I came in expecting to be annoyed by melodrama, but you've used really admirable restraint in your plotting and construction. You did a nice job with Jim's voice, which is normally very ephemeral and hard to nail.
I do have one criticism, though; I hesitate to offer it because I'm having some difficulty articulating exactly what it is. I hope this makes sense. You have handled the characterization of post-assault Pam with such delicacy that it seems to me like her essential character has been submerged. She is such an architypical survivor of sexual assault that she almost reads not like Pam anymore. Of course something like that is a life-altering event, but she seems, perhaps, too altered, if that makes sense? I would think that Pam would respond with a little more in the way of gallows humor, and that she would be aware that self-castigation is a textbook response (although I think you're right that she would punish herself regardless).
I hope I haven't overstepped what you were looking for in reviews. The only reason I mention it is because the rest of the story is so outstanding that this one note really stood out to me. I definitely plan to keep reading, and I hope you'll keep writing.
YAY for this story! I love your Pam so much, because she feels like herself, only stronger or braver by the smallest of degrees. Okay, climb into this burlap sack, and I'm going to find a way to smuggle you into the Office's writers room.

Sometimes Ryan and Kelly talk about babies. Okay... a lot of times. As always, I just love your Ryan/Kelly dynamic. Kelly is just the right blend of annoying and adorable to make Ryan's attitude of contempt and affection feel natural and interesting.
I love the routine implied in even though things like this never really result in him having to actually put them on, becaue it shows a functionality to their relationship that we haven't actually seen, and it makes them both feel more whole and interesting.
Hee! I can't wait to see what Michael's evil plan is. (I hope it involves forming a mystery-solving band and an elaborate metaphor for marijuana use.)

That's so sweet! Karen is so lovely and assertive and fun in this that you've almost convinced me that she should have moved in with Jim!
This is really nice. And the last line is a real kicker -- it feels at once open and honest, and a reminder of the different choices that Jim could have made.
Yay for this story! I love the interlocking elements -- the snooping adds a fun tension to Michael's lunacy, and the dual search is very clever.
And, of course, Confused Bastard Jim is loads of fun to watch. (I think somebody needs a Jump to Conclusions" mat.) And poor Pam! Update soon, please!

I didn't think anybody was going to write this story, but I'm so glad you did. This is an outstanding characterization of Karen, who is so often treated like an obstacle instead of a person, and of Jim, who cannot dump a six-month girlfriend in New York and be a mensch at the same time. Thanks for writing this.

I was trying to make it funny, and make the characters at least talk like themselves even though maybe the way they acted wasn't quite what we're used to! So giggling is good.
And I think everyone in my stories won - good clean fun, right? Or...dirty but safe fun! Dirty, safe, clean, fun. That's a win/win/win/win, right?
Yeah, I'm not giving up my crown without a fight. Although, I did have an idea for a chapter 3 this morning, and it's verrrry tame. I promise. It really is. But I don't have to use my crown every second of every day, so it will still work.
