All I can say is that Pam had BETTER have said exactly this. Exactly this. You capture their voices and, more importantly, the emotions of a moment like this perfectly.
Author's Response: Well, we\'ll never know, most likely, but I hope her reaction was similar to this. Thanks for the kind words, nqllisi, I appreciate it, and I\'m glad you liked it. :)

The show gives you just barely enough to make them both this real. I love the gold you've spun here. Ah, Kelly. Ah, Ryan.
Author's Response: Thank you so much!! I'm glad it still felt like them :)

Ha! I guessed where you were heading, but I love the parallels you create between Alex and Jim. The difference, of course, is that Jim really does Get Her and Roy did not. Not that Alex would agree! Nicely done.

Oh Michael. Oh, Holly. They're so perfect. And she gets the Michael & Dwight relationship, too. So sad that Michael thinks it is inevitable that Jan moves back in. It is, isn't it? Anyway, you capture all three voices flawlessly, and I adore that Dwight secretly respects Pam. That's a great detail in a small story filled with great details. Love!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the love, nqllisi! I'm glad you enjoyed this.

Amen. This is why she cried by the subway, because she tried so hard But she smiled in the parking lot, because she had tried at all for the first time. Beautifully done.
Author's Response: Thank you! And yes, I think you\'re right. :)
Date: November 17, 2008 Title: Chapter 1: It Worked For Han And Leia
Oooh. So sweet. You handle this with such a light touch. It is sweet and funny and thoughtful- you have a much better grip on Jim's voice than I do, so I am jealous. I love that you start with a reference to movie characters and have the climax as an echo from a movie moment without explicitly drawing the parallel at the end. That's well done. Welcome back!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I tried to keep the piece more or less light-hearted without making it jokey. For some reason I get into Jim\'s head a little too comfortably...that may say a lot about me psychologically. :) I\'m happy you noticed and enjoyed the \"callback\" of sorts - I tried to stay subtle! :)
Date: November 20, 2008 Title: Chapter 3: Just When You Think You Got A Hold
Ah, missed opportunities. This is a lovely little moment from their past (and wow, do I relate to Pam's sweatshirt story. It was shoes, for me, but...yeah. Middle school was hard). Someday in the happy present they will see something that reminds them both of the first video and only her of the second one and she'll have a moment of regret that melts in his smile. I just love this- you're making me make up fic to follow-up your fic!
Author's Response: Ha - you\'re cute! :) Thanks so much...yes, I think we\'ve all been in Pam\'s shoes in that nasty middle school flashback. Well, except me. I was always cool. *eyes shift quickly* ;)
Date: December 02, 2008 Title: Chapter 4: Hypothetically, Mind You...
My baby is nine months old now, so this time of preparation is a relatively fresh memory for me. You capture it beautifully, that feeling of being yourself but different, of knowing that something momentous is happening but not grasping it yet, so you talk in abstractions and hope you're making the right choices. I love that I can relate so completely but still recognize that this is Jim and Pam. Nice work.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I\'m really happy that, as a real mom, this was relatable. I was a bit worried. Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Date: December 10, 2008 Title: Chapter 5: The Dangers of Drunken Channel-Surfing
So, sooo cute. And, cheesy as it is, I love that song. Awesome. How great is it when the significant other meshes well with the friends? I love that detail.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, meshing with the friends is so crucial, in that not-terribly-important way...I know *I* had to pass the test! :) And don\'t tell, but I love that song too. ;)
Date: December 18, 2008 Title: Chapter 6: Nothing Hurts Like Your Mouth
I hate to quibble with you, but this? This is totally important, and definitely an adventure. This is, by far, the best "hashing out the past" fight fic I've read. Just stunningly perfect, because of course all of that is "so... there".
Author's Response: (Never be afraid to quibble - but that\'s why there\'s that \"usually\" in the title. ;) ) Thank you so very much. I\'m really, really touched. :)
Date: January 07, 2009 Title: Chapter 9: Carved In Stone
What a lovely way to explore what marriage ideally means. This was solemn but still entertaining, and you used the perfect light touch.
Author's Response: Thanks so much; I appreciate that. :)
Date: January 12, 2009 Title: Chapter 10: Jimmy Says It's Fine - He Don't Consider It Cheating Now
Heh. Very sweet. And I enjoy that Pam includes a fictional character. Because while I may be slightly obsessed with Jim Halpert, JKras doesn't really do it for me. Another excellent chapter!
Author's Response: Now see, nqllisi, I\'m the opposite - I\'d take Krasinksi over Halpert anyday. But tomato, tomahto. ;) Thanks a lot! :)
Just a little something that the lighting in that last beautiful scene of Business Trip inspired. Some nice, flufftastic jaminess for you to munch on. ;-)

Yep. Yes, this is exactly how it felt, and how he would explain it, and yes. You've robbed me of articulate speech with the rightness of this.
Author's Response: AWWWW!!!! Gosh, you're killing me with this. Thank you SO much Nqllisi!

Oh, this is perfect. Because yes, he was sort of out of line to make such a big decision without her, and yes, it may not be every girl's dream house, but...he loves her. Loves her enough to want to do this for her. And he knows her, completely, enough to know deep down that this is going to be OK with her, that she'll be happy here with him. Jim's a big one for impulsive, romantic gestures, and this is certainly that. I love your Pam voice here. Spot on.
Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much. That's such a great compliment - to have the voice right. You're so right about Jim being a romantic. I remember in that scene last season when he tells Michael that he's a romantic...::sigh:: very, very true Mr. Halpert. Here's to Halpert and his romantic gestures!

Awwww. Yay! I'm thankful for you and for the sweetness of this story, which had great, in-character ensemble snark, Holly/Michael shippiness, and sweet, sweet JAM. I'd happily eat popcorn and toast with you on any holiday!
Author's Response: Same here missy. I like my toast on the lighter side and my popcorn with oodles of butter. Just...you know...for future reference. ;) So glad you liked it.

This is amazingly sexy for being entirely chaste. That push-pull between them, that undercurrent that was the foreshadowing of now...you capture it beautifully. Not that I'm surprised, because you are consistently amazing.
Author's Response: Thanks so much nqllisi! And I like 'push-pull' - I think that's exactly it, in a nutshell ;-)
Date: December 03, 2008 Title: Chapter 3: mistaken identity
Karen just was never the right girl, was she? And Pam had his number all along, even when she tried to fold. OK, mixed that metaphor to hell and back, but the point is- another perfect chapter.
Author's Response: Personally, I'm a big fan of mixed metaphors - so much more creative ;-) And no, Pam aside, Jim and Karen were just not cut from the same cloth and eventually would have withered on the vine (see? More fun with mixed metaphors! Wee!) Thanks so much, nqllisi!
Date: December 08, 2008 Title: Chapter 4: constellation
Ahh, yes. How much they love each other. You show us and tell us, too. Perfection.
Author's Response: They really can make you love love, lol. Glad the show and tell worked. And many thanks, nqllisi!
Date: December 11, 2008 Title: Chapter 1: a faint pulse
Oh, colette. I like you. How...perfect. And for her to try to express, in some way, what those freckles have meant to her, as they stand on the precipice of their new life together...just perfect. Wow. (Boy, I'm eloquent today, heh). Lovely, lovely work.
Author's Response: You know, I wanted to keep the final freckle ref very understated, but still have it signify just that...glad it wasn't too subtle (I worried a bit.) And also glad you enjoyed this - as always, lots of gratitude, nqllisi!
It’s Christmas Eve (2007), and what are our favorite workers up to?

I love this! Every one of them feels so realistic. You alternate between joy and angst beautifully, too. And the best part, they're all short enough that I don't feel inadequate because of all my tiny, tiny fics (ha!).
Author's Response:
:D. Oh, yay! I can't believe how sad I made some of the stories, considering its Christmas and its happy!
And I blame you for my short story kick. But that's alright. I enjoy them that way (both writing and reading!)
Thanks for the review, you rock.

Ooh! I love that movie, too, and I am absolutely thrilled to see where you take this story. Jim was seriously depressed when he left Scranton- it is the perfect scenario for this plot. Just, yay! And beyond the set-up, you have a few really nice lines in this chapter that set the tone. Keep it up!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! It means a lot coming from a great writer like yourself!
Date: December 17, 2008 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2
I'm really really enjoying this, and it is hillarious that you have Ed Truck as "Clarence". A small note, though- I'm finding it really distracting to read all of your dialog in italics. I keep thinking that the italics indicate thoughts rather than spoken words, and it is a little confusing. I would hate for a formatting choice to dissuade anyone from reading this really great story!
Author's Response: Thanks the for advice on the italics. I changed it for this next chapter so I hope it\'s easier! Thanks for the review!
