Date: October 15, 2007 Title: Chapter 1: Pam's Problem
This chapter blew me away! The glimpses into how Pam felt during Jim's BBQ and about the teapot and Christmas note were so well thought out. The way you described their date and Pam's feelings so clearly and descriptively was wonderful. I can't wait for the next chapter, especially after this one ended on such an honest note!
Author's Response: I'm glad that you liked the flashbacks, I was a little concerned about their length (TWSS), but I wanted to be as detailed and descriptive as possible. Usually, but not always, when I write a chapter it had a theme, or a point that is repeated, and for this one it was "honesty" so the flashbacks were sort of Pam's way of realizing how dishonest they've been with each other. Thank you for the review JAMtastic.
Date: January 02, 2008 Title: Chapter 9: The Warmth Of The Sunset, The Cold Of The Night
Another fantastic chapter in an excellent story. I love the flashbacks; they feel so real and easy to imagine as part of Jam history. The argument - wow! I kept finding myself agreeing with both of their points of view. I always love reading about how they might've worked through their issues, since we probably won't get much of this on the show. I love this:
So it had come to this, a sort of low-brow compromise with herself. A middle-road option that pacified her slightly, but yet left open the ability to acknowledge her own failure. If it wasn’t symbolic of her entire life, and her attempts with Jim lately, she didn’t know what else could be.
Author's Response: What a wonderful review! I'm glad that you liked the flashbacks, they're something that I really started doing with chapters that weren't based on episodes. There were some interwoven into her speech on the beach, but I've tried to make them meaningful and reflective of the situations in which they come to Pam. In that way, they sort of make sense and help to explain her emotions at the time in which she's experiencing them. So, I'm glad that they feel real and easy to you, that's a wonderful compliment. And also, I'm glad that you liked my box-wine as an analogy of life bit in the chapter. I set that up in the first two chapters, and in one later chapter when Pam runs into Karen at the elevator, so that's kind of the payoff on that one. Thanks for the review and for reading JAMtastic.

This is one of the most beautiful stories here! I love how you describe Pam pushing away her feelings at so many points in their relationship, and then realizing all that she has let slip through her hands. Keep up the excellent work.
How the events of Casino Night effect Pam emotionally and how she digs herself up and out the hole of despair to be the Fancy and New Beesly of Season 3.

Great chapter and story. I remember reading it in the fall and am so glad you updated! You've focused on Pam's emotions in such detail which makes it seem like we're right there with her. Can't wait for more.
Author's Response: OMG how did I miss your review? Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm hoping to update more often than every 4 months. :) Actually there should be another chapter any minute now.
A series of short vignettes about Jim and Pam's need to find some time alone together every once in a while.
Chapter 4 added.

This was great - you described the scenario in a nice visual way. I could see it happening on the show. Are you listening, writers?
Author's Response: Thanks so much!
For a minute longer than he should, he'd continue to stare at her and wonder when it was they lost each other.

This is so well-written - I love your alternating viewpoints between the magic of the past and the current distance between them. It seems very realistic that they could go down a path like this, as sad as it would be. Hopefully they will work through their past hurt in "real life" (on the show). Your ending is lovely with both of them realizing they can work through it together.
Author's Response: Oh my gosh, thank you SO very much for those kind words. I would also love to see something like this on the show, as much as I love the happiness now, they also have so much between them that would be a real treat to see delved into. Thank you again for your lovely review, JAM, it means a lot to me. :)

This is absolutely wonderful. You've delved inside their minds with such accuracy. I kept thinking, "yes, that's exactly what Pam/Jim probably thought" while I was reading. The resulting behavior was so painful for us to watch but you've helped explain where the behavior may have come from. This is great:
She thinks of all the gifts she’s got stored away to give. Her favorite is sitting in the drawer to her left and she’s decided today is the day to give it to him. She’s decided that every day for the past week. She thinks gaining confidence will be her New Year’s resolution. She’s decided that every year for the past ten. She hates irony.
Please keep up the excellent work.
Author's Response: Wow. Thank you so much. I\'m new to this fandom, I only got into the show a few months ago and this is honestly the first fic for this pairing I\'ve ever written. Obviously I\'m hyper aware that I don\'t really know the characters inside out so I\'m terrified of going out of character because I know how easy that is in new fandoms. It really made my day to read that you find this accurate. Thanks for reading!
Date: January 07, 2008 Title: Chapter 8: The Job
What a brilliant ending to this story. I've enjoyed it all thoroughly! You've delved so well into their heads. I really enjoyed the dichotomy in this chapter, especially from Pam's point of view. You described her conflicting emotions so well, like this:
She gives him the time that he couldn’t bear to give her.
Even so, she hates him for taking it.
Please keep writing more Jam fics - you're great at it.
Author's Response: Thanks! I\'m really glad you enjoyed the section of Pam\'s POV because that was the part I really had the most difficulty with. I had Jim\'s section written way before I could anything out for Pam. Thanks again :)

Yet suddenly, she was met with the startling realization that she cared more about the fact that she had quite possibly ruined her friendship with Jim, than the idea that she had ruined her ten year relationship with Roy.
I love this, and the way you've so clearly described Pam as she realizes her own true feelings for Jim. I like the angst; it shows the depth of their emotions. Looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for your kind review JAMtastic! I\'m glad Pam\'s realization came off as realistic to you. I must admit, I was a little concerned it might be a bit off, so it\'s really comforting to hear that you liked it. Thanks again so much for reading and reviewing!! :)

Wow, I love the angst here and the visual nature of this story. I can just see them sitting there talking like this. This is great: "He knows I’m not going to leave Roy even though I don’t even know that yet." Keep up your amazing writing.
Jim runs into someone at the drug store that he's not planning on running into. This is a bit AU. I'd say it takes place post-season two. Just something I thought might be interesting.
*I just realized I made a huge continuity error between the first and second chapter. I've corrected the mistake.

I LOVE this entire story! I've been meaning to review each chapter but am finally getting to it. Your writing style is so fun to read and so realistic. This chapter is great; such hopefulness mixed with anxiety while getting their feelings out. Please keep writing - especially more date fics would be great.

Fantastic story and so well-written. I love how you keep their dialogue straightforward and not overly wordy - this is how they seem to communicate on the show but it's hard to capture in fic. There can never be too many first date stories and this is by far one of the best! Holding each other at the beginning, Jim reluctantly talking about Karen, and then being so willing to stay at the end...it feels very realistic. Keep up your great work.
Author's Response: Thanks! I added that bit about holding each other just recently and wasn\'t sure how real it felt, so I\'m glad to know it came across as I intended. :)

Fantastic job! You really got inside Pam's head briefly but thoroughly for so many painful season 3 moments. I love the end with the coke and notes. What a creative take on Jam.
It will feature all the major characters at some point, and will most likely be angsty because that's where Parker's poems lean.

I have so enjoyed each of these chapters. I love the angst and glimpse into their thoughts at different points. The poems/parts of poems are so appropriate. Are you using poems from one Dorothy Parker book or several? I'd love to know your recommendations!
Author's Response: Thank you. :) Glad you liked it. I would recommend The Portable Dorothy Parker - it\'s a collection of her writings (lots of poetry). I love it. You can also find a lot of her poems online at poemhunter.com.

Great concept with this story. I love it when authors delve into missed opportunities from season 2! You've got the tone and angst just right. I have my fingers crossed for a happy ending.
Author's Response: I have something like six of these--so many missed opportunities! Ah, the angst! Glad you feel the tone is right; that\'s important to me. Thanks for reading, and, well... we\'ll see. :)
