I love this chapter! Their nervousness was perfect and adorable. I especially loved this bit:
"For what seemed to her like the hundredth time since he'd appeared on her doorstep with those gerbera daisies, she silently willed him to kiss her, yet simultaneously felt terrified at the idea that he just might."
That sentence is just so spot-on. Well done!

Hey! I have been reading Jim and Pam "first date" fics obsessively ever since Thursday, and this is definitely one of the best! I can't wait to read more!
This is a great post-The Job Jim and Pam heart-to-heart! Very realistic, very true to the characters, and addressing all of their issues. The angst is inevitable, but I notice that Pam ran INTO Jim's apartment, so I know it will into be temporary. : ) Keep up the good work!

Wow, this was great! It's really great to read a guy's version of Jim. A lot of girls (myself included) tend to romanticize him to the point of basically removing all testosterone. Yours was very realistic. Those last six or seven lines were so sweet and perfect! Well done.
Author's Response: Thanks so much. There is a ton of great writing by women here but we do see a lot of a Jim who likes to cook, clean, and shop, and only lusts exactly at the appropriate time. Jim is a good guy who respects women, but I definitely think he would have some quite R rated thoughts during that drive.

Jim has finally asked Pam out on a date. What happens now? This story follows their relationship as it develops throughout the summer, and shows how the rest of Dunder Mifflin reacts to both this and other recent changes in their lives.

“Wow. So here’s where I’m supposed to act all awkward and pretend that it doesn’t bother me.”
“Exactly, and I’m supposed to pretend that I don’t notice it makes you uncomfortable.
“Excellent. Everything back to normal.” They both smiled and quietly laughed.
What a perfectly JAM way to address a serious issue! I love it!

Hands down the best JAM first date I've read! So simple, funny and sweet....up until the whole Pam crying in the bathroom thing, but angst is always good too. I'm going to read chapter 3 right now, I just had to stop and gush about how adorable this chapter was!
Jim's life for years revolved around wanting something he could not have. What happens when Jim finally gets everything he ever wanted? Takes place the Monday after "The Job." Jim is with Pam. Karen returns to Scranton.
Great story so far...it is painful, but it is true that Jim, Pam, and all of us JAMmers have been neglecting Karen and how painful the last 2 episodes must have been for her. This is a great alternative to all the fluffy, post-The Job first date fics...I've read so many of those in the past two weeks, and your story is a welcome wake-up call.

A few people run into Jim Halpert at the Super Walmart.I'm loving this story! This chapter was especially good. I love stories about Jim basically being the most supernaturally perfect man/father/husband, and this one took it even further by having him defend Kelly.

Just great, you guys! I think you captured both Jim and Pam perfectly. I especially liked the bit where one of them said "I can't even remember what we talked about." That was so...something that happens to me all the time. Where you know you had a great time but your mind races and you can't even recall any details. Bravo!

Jim has his doubts but when it comes to Pam, he made the right choice.

Hey! I am loving the Jim/Pam interactions in this story, but I must say that it is coming off as a little mean-spirited toward Karen and Dwight. Oh, and, everyone loves a little smut! Smut! Smut!
Awesome! I love the running count of dates in Jim's head...and the end was so heartbreaking! That was a very well-chosen way for Jim to notice her ring. I actually wrote my own "First Date" fic at Cugino's, but I think yours put mine to shame. Great job!
