Such a fun, light-hearted and fluffy lead into the holiday. I especially liked this passage:

So achingly sweet....the tension building within Jim (and us) as he can't help but imagine what could be...all the tentative "if onlys" and "what ifs" that we lived through for so long. This just said it all perfectly:
"He looks across the kitchen table at Pam’s face, lit by the small flickering candle she’s placed between them. He loves her like this, loose and relaxed, her cheeks flushed from the wine. He wonders what it would be like to see her this way every day, every night - for this to really be his ‘normal.’"
You've beautifully captured the bittersweet but elegant heartache of Jim's yearning and the undertone of Pam's own emerging feelings in a way that resonates so strongly for those of us who have been following this love story from the very beginning. Great job!

Summary: This story takes place in October of Season 3, between Grief Counseling and The Initiation – deep in the heart of angst country. In one of my previous fics (I think it was Sheet Music), I put forth some rationale for why I thought Jim’s birthday was in October (like JK’s), so I’m going to continue with that assumption.
