Ugh. So beautiful. Miss Colette, you are the master! Describing Jim as a kid finding his parents love letters was so spot on. As a kid, it's really mind blowing when you first realize that your parents had a whole life before you ever came around. And I loved how you just described what he was writing about instead of showing the actual letter. I think Pam would like to have a hidden box of love letters, too. :-)

I loved that Jim asked Angela to give Pam a ride home! Sigh. It's been way more than a year later and Casino Night still can pack such a punch. Great job and I look forward to reading more :-)

I must admit I was confused at first at the two similar stories. I assumed that the second chapter was a continuation of the first. I liked both - but the first take was my favorite. I loved all the little analogies, especially "Felicity goes to Scranton." I think that your first version fits more into Karen's character, but since the writers of the show evidently decided that Karen is the type to cry in front of a fountain, what do I know? Anyways, these were both interesting reads!

Jim and Pam have 24 hours together before he leaves for Stamford. A lot can happen when you're on borrowed time.This is such a great idea! You're so good at the banter, it feels so natural. I always wish your chapters were longer! One thing though, I think in the deleted scenes for Casino Night, Jim says his charity is the Lackawanna County Volunteer Sherrifs. But, Habitat for Humanity works, too! Can't wait for another hour :-)

As much as I enjoy reading all the first date fics where everything is rainbows and butterflies, I am so excited to see where you go with this, because it's (in my opinion) definitely the more realistic route. If NBC sold DM pajama pants, I'd definitely buy them! The image of Jim surprising Pam with flowers out of nowhere is really sweet.

This was good stuff! I loved how Jim wished Pam would be more like herself when she was sober. I can definitely relate to that. And I think your ideas about Pam's low self-esteem and thinking Jim was too good for her are dead-on. This feels like it really could have happened on the show. Great job!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, I never really liked the portrayal of Pam as knowing Jim was in love with her and purposely stringing him along for the ego boost. She certainly has/had her faults, but I don't think she's intentionally cruel or manipulative.
Great Depression AU.10 I was so happy to see this back online! I had read it way back when but never reviewed because I was being a big weirdo lurker creep, so I have to tell you, this is probably the best fanfiction I have ever read. I remember first seeing the description of the story and scoffing, thinking that Jim and Pam in the Great Depression sounded so lame. Well, I was so wrong! Something about your imagery, your style just completely draws me in. My heart literally aches and soars right along with the characters. And, you win for the only fanfic to ever make me cry. I think this is so much better than The Notebook - and that you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't be moved by it if they gave it a chance.

But this fic has been alot of fun to work on, so I'm happy. I love Pam too much to totally humiliate her of course, but it is going to be interesting in terms of getting the key from Dwight. Btw, you're doing NANO aren't you? I'm super nervous about it.

Three things I believe: They love each other. Dunder Mifflin would wear Jim down without Pam there. Parenting ain't easy. This story follows from those three premises.
Oh, man. This is good stuff. I love how Jim is still hesitant to share everything with Pam, how there's still that sliver of doubt where she is concerned. I think that no matter what, it's impossible to fully heal the wounds of the past. I also love that even though they're married and have a kid, they still have that quiet sense of melancholy, it's so realistic and really wonderful.
