This was great! I love it when fanfic explains things that happened on the show that I had questions about. Dwight's listing of all that fancy food had me laughing out loud. Great stuff!

Summary:

The night Stephen announces he’s running for President, Pam turns to Jim with a gleeful grin and grips his arm. “We are so going to see the show tomorrow,” she tells him, almost warningly.

Jim and Pam take a trip to NYC and finally talk about the events of the last few years.

Oh, I liked this! I can totally believe that Jim and Pam would watch the Colbert Report. And I loved the way you had them talk about the past. These two are not as wordy as we'd like them to be sometimes! Jim has it right. I wish I could forget about Sanjaya, lol.

Author's Response: Thank you very much! Yeah, I totally think it would appeal to their senses of humour. Haha, good old Sanjaya. I think I just found him funny because I live in Australia so the only time I ever heard anything about him was on the Internet, unlike people living in the US who were completely saturated by him. Thanks again for the feedback!

Very sweet. One of the few things that bug me about this show is that a lot of Pam's clothes come from Anthropologie, which she could never afford to shop at in ten million years. Maybe she doesn't eat. Whatever! Anyways, I love all the little details you have imagined, it just makes it feel so real. Great job!

Author's Response: wow do her clothes really come from anthro? that was just a wild shot in the dark. for me, i considered this a splurge. maybe she goes to that store, tries stuff on, but never buys. and he knows this, and wants to give her a treat ;) glad you liked this!

This is seriously, seriously great, and it just keeps getting better and better. I read chapter three about ten minutes ago and I still am feeling all sad and conflicted and guhh! Can't Roy spend Thanksgiving with his own freaking family? But this feels like something that totally could happen. Can't wait to read more...but when you're done, can you write some patented LoveFool fluff to make me a little happier? :-)

Author's Response: hahaha! I think I might be in the mood for a little fluff myself after this is over. I'll see what I can do!  BabyTalk is long overdue, I'm thinkin'. Supergirlsudz, thank so much for the review!...You know, I think for Roy, Pam's family is still a huge part of him and he's probably feeling some grief of his own...so we'll see what happens!

Be proud of yourself - this was an amazing, awesome, great, wonderful story! I absolutely loved it. You are so good at writing realistic dialogue. I also loved the "do you want to have a baby with me?" "no" exchange. Those two are never good with words. Sometimes I get jealous of Jim and Pam (is that weird? lol) and this is one of those times. Sigh. But I truly enjoyed reading this!

Author's Response: If you're weird than so am I....you are not alone. lol. I often get jealous of a fictional couple as well. Thanks so much for such great compliments. Dialogue is my most favorite thing to write, so that means a lot! Thank you.

I'd say we're lucky you decided to start writing Office fic. This was very good. The only thing I would say is that Jim and Pam aren't usually ones to have deep conversations about their feelings. I think you showed that here pretty well by having Jim hide his true feelings like that. But, some of the long chunks of dialogue seemed to ring a little false to me. Regardless, this was a great story and I hope to see more from you in the future!

Um, CONTINUE, PLEASE! If you do, would you do it from Karen's POV or Pam's? It would be nice to get a little bit of both. I always thought Jim's return to Scranton was pretty unrealistic. So, I'd love to see your take on the situation if it was more like real life!

Author's Response: You know, I would probably stick with Karen's, just because I think it's one that doesn't get represented too often.  But we shall see :)  In any case, I really appreciate you reading!  Thanks!

Maybe Pam should be an art teacher, too! Haha. Or just be inspired by the joy of creating. That was very sweet. And I've totally been to Santasiero's before. Yum. If I only knew then that I was at the restaurant where Jim's parents had their first date. I really liked Melinda and Steve's story, you can tell where Jim gets his charm from. I really can't wait for Jim and Pam to go to Allentown themselves!

Author's Response:

So weird!  I can't believe you've been to Santasiero's!  It's one of the first restaurants I remember my parents taking us kids to and when I was older I lived on Lafayette, so I'd walk down there a lot to have a glass of wine (in a jelly jar) and sit and listen to the old men at the bar.  Such a great place.  I can't wait for Jim and Pam to go there, too, but I'm taking my time with that chapter, so stay tuned!  Thank you so much for the great review.

Yay Sweetpea! I am so looking forward to reading many, many chapters of this! You write Jim and Pam so freaking well. Like, this is how I imagine them. Also, I feel the same way Pam does about the mucous plug. Yikes!

And the title makes me think that maybe our fair lovebirds will start a new life in the other Pennsylvania city that is also the title of this story. Hmm, can't wait to see if I am right or wrong about that hunch!

Author's Response: Hey, sudzygirl, it's always so good to hear from you!  Poor Pam, right?  Her world is getting rocked all over the place.  I'm not going to say a word about your hunch.  It's killing me, but you can't make me talk!  Thank you so, so much for the sweet review!

Whoa, it's an early fanfic Christmas present! I love the structure, the first-person POV, how you're portraying Pam's issues with her art. I can totally relate. Especially the part where Kellie is complimenting her drawings and she can't truly believe it. Ah, so good!

Author's Response: sudzy, that's so wonderful to hear.  I'guess a lot of us have been at that low point where our faith in ourselves and our abilities gets shaken to the core and that's right where Pam is right now, the poor thing.  Writing the conversation with Jim in chapter 3 just wore me out - going to that place where you feel unworthy of and pressured by the support and encouragement from someone who loves you.  Man, that's a tough place to be.  Ya gotta have faith, though.  I can't let anything too awful happen to our girl!

This is one of those stories that makes me jealous of Jim and Pam. Like, why can't I have what they have? Then I remember that they are fictional and I feel slightly better. As always, such a joy to read. The scene with the tree was so vividly written that I almost felt inspired to paint (and, well, I'm no painter). Can't wait for your next update!

Author's Response:

Wait!  They're fictional?!  Ohhhh, RIGHT!  Fictional!  sudzy, I'm so envious of them, too, and I can't figure out if writing them is my wish fulfillment for them or for ME!  Thank you for mentioning the tree because I just love the image of the two of them kneeling in the grass getting totally drenched.  Okay, wet!Jim is truly an inspiration! I'm really excited about writing the next two chapters myself, so I hope you enjoy what's to come.  Thank you so much for the review!

Oh my God, Sweetpea! I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face. I should have known, native Buffalonian that I am, that Allentown = Allentown Art Festival! Ahhh! So freaking perfect. I was already so insanely into this story and now, well, even more so! I can't freaking wait to hear the story of how Jim's parents met. I know you're going to do it such justice. And the image of Jim feeling the baby kick and poke? That was just amazing. Woooo!

Author's Response: I am so, so happy to read this, sudzy!  I have so many great memories from Allentown - I went every year and even after I moved away, I scheduled visits around Father's Day, just so the tradition could continue.  I'm so glad you're enjoying this and thank you so much for the sweet and enthusiastic review - I really appreciate it

Reviewer: supergirlsudz Signed

Oh, Sweetpea, this is fantastic. You certainly did ol' Buffalo proud. I especially loved the line: I'm watching the Buffalo skyline come into view and we're passing old abandoned factories and grain elevators and rail yards and I can't imagine what the hell we're going to do for three days. I used to pass those abandoned factories and grain elevators every day on my ride to school - it's freaking depressing, but in a comforting way...if that makes sense!

I also really loved how the same artist from all those years ago was at the festival and helped Pam capture some inspiration. And on another note, I loved the baby names you picked out for them. I know it's silly but when I read a babyfic and I don't like the baby name, it totally takes me out of it.

I will be sorry to see this one end!

Author's Response:

Do you know how often you popped into my head when I was writing this chapter?  'I hope sudzy thinks this is true to home.'  Seriously.  Depressing, yet comforting - yes, exactly.  It really is pretty awful that that's what you see when you come into the city from that route, but for home girls like us...there is comfort there.  And I'm so glad you liked the names!!  I'm the same way about reading names I don't like!  Truth be told, I have a hard time thinking of the Halperts having a baby girl who isn't LoveFool's Jilly, it's that iconic to me.  Thank you so much for all your kind words and compliments and encouragement with this story.  Who knows?  Maybe we'll get to meet someday at the real Allentown!  XO

Now, I'm not a big gloater, but I called it! I knew you would provide a fresh, new spin on the Christmas card...and you proved me right! I really liked how you portrayed the rollercoaster of feelings both Jim and Pam had that day. I think Pam's actions here really show a lot about her character. I mean, most people would have been seduced by the iPod, so it says a lot that she was able to see that Jim's gift was really the more valuable one. I can't wait to see where you take this! (And the "ho, ho, ho" breaks were very cute!)

Author's Response:

Okay just a few things, but I totally owe you for giving me a nudge here.  I really appreciate your support, you're just awesome and it means alot to me.  i'm glad you liked the story so far and I think you're so right about Pam.  Her actions show how much she loves Jim, even when her words don't.

And so many couples struggle with the whole in-law issue, so to me, this is so much more interesting than Pam and Jim having a perfect life with perfect parents and perfect families. Also, you completely nailed the proposal. It was sweet without being too saccharine, and also completely believable. Excellent work!

Colette baby fic? Sign me up! I love what you've done here with Pam's state of mind. Having a baby is scary stuff (not that I would know, but even thinking about it scares me!) But I also loved this:

This would make them irrevocable. And that was the one thing she was sure she wanted. Without condition, without looking back. The alternative was unbearable.

I am getting to that age where some of my friends and acquaintances are starting to have babies, and this totally nailed why I feel happy yet feel a little trepidation for them. They still have to do so many things! Ahh! But I guess if they've found their Jim...more power to them. Anyways, can't wait to see where you go with this one.

I'm interested to see where you go with this. I'm not the hugest fan of Pam/Ryan, mostly because I can't really see underneath that first layer of jerk.
