All right, I gushed at TWoP, and I'll do it again here: Wow.  This is just gorgeous, xoxoxo! It's so realistic, first of all, in its simplicity; it's easy to go way over the top when you're writing the moment when these two finally get together (trust me - I've tried with much melodrama).  But this is just succinct and perfect and beyond romantic.  You should definitely venture into 'M' material more often, because you do it in such a....classy isn't the right word, but it'll have to do because my brain's still reeling a little from the squee.  :o)

Seriously - love this.  Just love it.  Keep 'em coming! With stuff like this, I think I can wait for as long as need be for Jim to hurry up and get back to Scranton!

Author's Response: Awww!  You're too sweet.  And I don't really know how "M" it actually is but I'll see what I can do.  Thanks girl7!

Gave me the biggest chill, made me stop chewing my sesame chicken on the spot.  This is excellent - so true to their voices, so understated and realistic.  God.  Could you please storm the NBC lot where they're filming and force them to make this happen on the show?

Seriously - sheer brilliance, this.  Love it!  Will there be more....?

Author's Response:

You are too kind:)  Glad you are enjoying it.  Hope to get Part 2 up this evening.

Sigh.  Just beautiful (I have the chills to prove it) and so realistic.  You've got their voices down - and the poignancy of what this meeting would be like (feeling awkward for a second - handshake or hug?).  Wow. I'm really sorry this is over.

Perhaps you could continue it....write another.....?

Author's Response:

Thank you so much.  I really appreciate it:)  This was the most dialogue I've done and I was really nervous about it.  I'll definitely see what tonight's episode brings for inspiration:)

First of all, this is your first fan fic?  Because this is just excellent!  What a great, great concept - them having met on the night of the infamous hockey game!  And I could so see this happening - Jim being all gangly and awkward and such.  :o) Loved it, too, that you worked in the "They know what they did" line!

I hope you dive into the obsession right alongside the rest of us, because this was such a terrific story!  Write and post more!

Author's Response:

Oh, gosh.  Thanks so much.  This is not my first fan fic ever (I have a one-shot and a partially abandoned WIP for Veronica Mars over on LJ) but I haven't written much, and this was my first Office fic, so I am so glad that it turned out okay:)

The obsession has definitely taken hold - Unfortunatley, I write very slowly, but I definitely want to to more.

Thanks again!:)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!  oh my god!  Okay, first of all, how honored am I that you wrote this?? WOW.

Second of all, I'm torn between major squee and serious guilt at how excited I am about your final line!  (I take it back! I take it back!  Jim and Pam must be together!)  ....But ah, what a lovely diversion....

Couldn't believe how many great lines I wanted to mention, but I forced myself to narrow it to this one:

"Something, anything that would remind her of what it was like. Just to feel him again, even if it wasn't him."

That is the perfect way to frame a kiss between these two - because you could totally excuse her for this.  Now, could you figure out a way to make it okay for Jon to kiss her back?  To go with it?  Eee!

Also - I was laughing out loud at your Drunk!Pam - you wrote her voice so perfectly.

LOVED THIS.  Take Jonathan anytime, sister!  (TWSS - or HS!)

Author's Response:

Haha!  I'm so glad you liked it!  After all, it was inpsired by your work ...

In my mind, if Jim really did get "serious" with Karen, I could totally see the last scenario happening -- and I imagined (no, I am totally NOT admitting that this scene went on in my head) that Jon might actually kiss her back because I totally think he's attracted to her but he's always done nothing because of his brother and the fact that he was so loyal to him.  But, you know... Jim's dating Karen ... Jim's not around ... Pam's drunk ... let's say Jon's maybe had a few ....  welllll ... there might be some requited sexual tension going on there, let's just say.

Wow, I just had to fan myself thinking about it.  Whew.

Ah me.  This merits a moment of silence and a sigh before I can even begin to review it.

Okay.

So here's the thing about your fics: I know they'll always be delicous - just the perfect meld of steam and absolutely on the mark characterizations.

This?

‘Wow...hello to you too,’ he said huskily, pulling back from her mouth and gazing adoringly at her the way he did when he found something she’d done truly amazing.

I could just see that.  And I love that you draw attention here to the contrast between the facade she presents to the world and the heat that's there for Jim and only Jim.  Because I like to believe that that is the way these two would really be.

I also think you're absolutely right to note this as a sexual awakening for Pam in the sense that Jim notices everything and that for her, that's something new altogether.  ....Which of course would make her that much more hungry for him.

Hokay....need not drink wine on a Saturday afternoon.  :o)

Seriously, though, my only complaint about you is that you don't post a story every week.

Actually, I was telling my husband last night that sometimes I feel guilty, because I write and post in such a hurry, and it's all in an effort to both live vicariously through Pam (read: make her do and say the things with/to Jm that I would, given the chance), as well as to try to explore the moments on the show. As I told my husband, there are so many incredible writers on this board - your name and nomadshan's came to mind immediately, though there are others - and I feel like the Danielle Steele to you guys's....Kate Chopin.  Or Colette.  :o)

All this to say: You are absolutely awesome, both as a writer and as a thoughtful reviewer.  So thank you.

Author's Response:

In the words of JH, Wow. Seriously. As usual, you've picked out some of the precise elements that really drove this piece. Damn, you're good.

And a damn good writer too - which makes your comments here especially meaningful. In case my effusive reviews haven't been too obvious - I adore your stories...like drop everything, got to read a new chapter, to hell with my 'real work,' what husband and kids? kind of adore. And believe me, I also admire how prolific you are. That's a talent unto itself.  So, thank you, merci, gracias, grazie...okay, out of languages (but couldn't let potato chip girl have all the glory!) And stay tuned for more vignettes soon.

BTW, to be mentioned even in the same universe as the real Colette, or Kate C. is shocking. And v. much appreciated.

Mkay, first of all, let us pause at this:

‘You seriously don’t think that me sitting there totally exposed, with you studying every inch, might be a slightly erotic situation?’

*cough*

So unrealistic, Colette, really.  As if....

So I can't even sustain the joke.  Brilliance once again. I swear, you just own their voices, their easy rapport....how wonderful it would be if they finally let go and were together.  (I'm angry at Greg Daniels tonight.) :o)

Seriously - brilliant, as usual.  You should totally post all your snippets.

And by the way - only you could write an author's note that's so breathtaking it could stand alone as a brief fic.

Seriously.

Awesome!

Author's Response:

Well, glad you were entertained. I kind of thought you might get a kick out of this one. And I know what you mean - who'd want to see Jim naked? Outrageous, I tell you. A zillion thanks for your way too generous comments!

Trying to be patient with G. Daniels...but meanwhile, I need to keep myself amused...hence these little ditties. More on the way.

Ahhhh!  I love it that you kept the phrase "hot as a very hot thing" because for some reason that I can't articulate, it is just so perfectly them.

And I love Jim reaping the fruits of Kelly's influence on Pam - he so deserves all the lingerie and flavored lip gloss he can handle, doesn't he?  :o)

I can't wait for the next installation of this - and I'm so glad you're posting on TWoP now!  It's a great forum.

Author's Response:

You know, that's a line I've had a in my head for years - I actually came up with it to describe my college boyfriend a million years ago - who was rather Jim-ish, I might add (TMI, I know.) But somehow, it seemed to perfectly suit Mr. Halpert...because really, are there any words to do him justice? And I could just hear Pam saying it. Glad it spoke to you too!

Tryng to get P. 4 going - it's turning out a bit heavier (I'm beyond rehabilitation) and somehow I've ended up addressing Karen, Queen of Chips...so wish me luck.

Nice to be at TWoP...have lurked now and then for a while. Wary of the addictive potential, but great to 'see' my MTT colleagues over there! Like a cyber coffee klatsch.

Okay, love the metaphor of second drink here - in both places, actually.  Just lovely - as is this entire fic.  It's such a wonderful glimpse into what their life could be like if they were together - escaping to their own little world at the end of the day, unable to get enough of each other.

And as usual, your gift for making it all so real and tangible with the subtlest details is amazing.  This?

Pam just nodded. She closed her eyes and nuzzled her face into his neck, kissing him gently where she could feel his pulse below his ear. It felt so good to just hold him, quietly, for a while. The dim light made Jim’s skin look pale and slightly glowing, almost like a black and white movie. It had a soothing, otherworldly quality. Her mind began to wander once again.

....I could absolutely see that.  Just perfect.

Author's Response:

Now, if only Pam would realize what their life could be like. I'm glad it came through for you...you hit on exactly what I wanted to do with these disconnected pieces...just little glimpses of what could be. (Damn writers for thinking it would be boring if they just got them together!) Besides, of course, purging my mind of all its saucy little snippets. Thanks so much for your ever supportive and incisive comments!

Reviewer: girl7 Signed

Sorry for another review, but I forgot to comment on the Karen thing - I think you've articulated it perfectly here, his thing with Karen.  Absolutely.  I think if you'd posted this a week ago, we'd have all felt much more relieved immediately.  Because I think you're right on; he's trying so hard to make her fit the mold of Pam, and she's just not going to.  I think that right now, she's charmed enough to look like she's up for the challenge, but I think the more time that goes on, the more we're going to see evidence of exactly what you've said here - that he'll keep trying, and it'll just get more and more obvious that she just isn't Pam.

Again, great job here --

Author's Response: Never apologize for more reviews - they're like gifts! Glad you see Karen along the same lines. I definitely thought that in TC, when Jim turned around a lobbed the grenade, he'd made a conscious decision to try...but turned it into a classic Jim playful, creative moment (as opposed to the aggressive Call of Duty stuff.) Of course she's charmed...this is JIM! Ah well, the truth will out. I hope? Please? Thanks again for the great remarks!

Sex on the kitchen counter?  Dishes be damned?

Ho yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant work, as always!  And thank you, by the way.  :o)

Author's Response:

Will try to be more productive...somehow I think this may be inversely proportionate to my paying job, however. Aw, screw that.

Glad you were feeling the pudding....really, with Jim would there be a bad location? Kitchen counter, hood of car, random restroom...it's all good (okay, maybe not that last one, cause that's just grody.) And thank you for expressing your Ho yeah! Bracing myself for tomorrow night.....

I have to tell you, this is one of the absolute most beautiful pieces I've read in a long, long time. I don't have time to be reading all the new fic, but I saw that this was short and thought I'd check it out....wow. Sitting here with tears in my eyes.  You captured his voice so perfectly - caught that seemingly intangible thing that just IS Jim.  It comes to me to say that you've captured here what makes him such a compelling character: He's so open, so selfless and really brave, because it takes bravery to remain that open in the face of everything  he dealt with last season.

And thank god he never had to face this, because I really believe it would've played out exactly as you've written it here.

Just beautiful, really.

I stumbled across this absolutely gorgeous oneshot, and I'm just...stunned. First of all, my favorite image of Jim and Pam - favorite moment second to Casino Night - is at the end of "The Secret" when the doors close on them, and we see him stare at her, then she looks up at him, each just missing the other's gaze.

You capture the essence of that moment here, and then some.  This was sweet and poignant and erotic and just spot on. Loved it.

God, why did I not read this earlier?  This is, as always, just beautiful - heartbreaking, nuanced...poetry.  I always say that about your stuff, but it's the best way I can think of to describe it.  And the following line actually brought tears to my eyes, because it just articulates that ache we all feel for Jim so, so well:

He’s told his mother the abridged version; one look and she knew the rest. Such a beautiful boy. Capable of love with rare depth. She wonders how anyone could turn down that gift.

Author's Response: Thanks, girl7. It was kind of fun to write a drabble - didn't think it would be my thing, but I liked how precise it forces you to be. Kind of like doing a little puzzle! Sorry to make you cry but, lord, that Jim-ache is just a powerful thing, isn't it? Show is still funny as hell, but the ache:laugh ratio is getting a bit disproportionate, if you ask me. Anyway, thanks again and glad you found this!
