I'm singing U2 now, so. :P

I don't know what we did to deserve this but so many fluff pieces on the same day? One from you, especially! - that's pretty amazing, since your fics come up once in a while...

Loved this. The description of the workday was amazing, because I can feel what hell it can be, and while I'm slightly sad that Jim would still be there in two years [in your imagination], I'm also - not sad. I'm not making sense. And the description of his home is even better - Feed me, woman, and I'll listen to anything you have to say. I can imagine him saying that and it makes me goofy-grin.

Thank you so much for posting this, NEJ

Author's Response: U2? I don't get the reference, but Bono is always appropriate, so. I figured Jim would stay at DM because a) he's got that mortgage, b) he's got a kid on the way, and c) he doesn't want to leave Scranton again. Or that's the way I read him: a homebody whose life revolves around Pam and his home, not his job. And that line made me goofy-grin, too. Thanks for the feedback, moofoot!

All the tall and the sad and the tallly-ness and the sadly-ness and the teabagging [crap, I'm sure I lost it at that one] and the machinegunning and the fornicating and the bossofdancing and the supply closet and the random macarena and She was as lonely as a single sheet of off-white bond, mistakenly placed on the optic bright cardstock shelf. and the sadnessandthesadloneliness and wow, GENIUS! It's very late here but for now, let me leave it at this: love it. such a dork is my single validation for being called a dork [fyi, Jim loves dorks!], and I love that you managed to get that out of Pam, too. That's why that last bit? Very nearly broke my heart. They need to stop being idiots, pronto

OK, I love the imagery you've got here, too, from sitting in his car to holding his hand at the rink to watching someone else on the rink trying to let go

OK, I should shut up.

Author's Response:

No you shouldn't.  Keep going.  LOL!   I'm so glad you liked it.  It broke my heart too.

I absolutely loved this - it's amazing how beautiful you can make everything sound - It’s just another earthquake that ends in cracked pavement and shattered glass. is gorgeous - and I loved how you managed to make us feel for Karen, but still we knew this was the best thing to happen - and when you describe [I think it was the fourth-last paragraph] what she thinks of this love, that love rather, that epic love, it's just - brilliant. All sorts of it.

And Jim's I love you broke both my heart as well as Karen's, so.

I have to admit I clicked on this link with some trepidation because you have written satisfed-Jim/Karen before, but I loved this as much as I loved those.

I think your smut is awesome. And your characterisations are awesome. And your banter is awesome. And Though I do think that if certain people are going to engage in certain questionable activities in certain hotel rooms they should try to respect those around them. was unexpectedly Angela that that was awesome, as well. Him counting every time was awesome. In fact I even think the creaky mattress was awesome.

Strange how as the pieces scatter they come back together again.

Brilliant, absolutely - I loved Pieces, and the way you brought that into this universe, well - there's even more of a reason for Roy to have completely lost it that night Poor Richard's. Not that I'm saying they're good reasons, but still.

Also, Jim yelling? And Roy thinking it's all freaking revenge? Brilliant

And this He's wondering if he'll ever stop seeing his life play out on shrubbery - all sorts of genius. And the Angela and the Pam and the Karen and how in the end you know it's Pam, but something about it - it's so good I can't help thinking it could be Karen, too. Maybe.

Crap, I have to read this again now. Love this to bits. Seriously.

Author's Response: Wow, awesome, moofoot! Yeah, I think a lot of the time, Roy can't see past the end of his nose, so I tried to imagine what he'd think their motivations were - after all, Jim had been with him, so he couldn't actually fall for Pam, right? :) I'm also glad that the end worked both ways for you - I wanted a little ambiguity there.

John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer would re-enact the confession and kiss in my living room every honking day, while I would clap my hands and squee like a jackass.  :o)

This is in no way part of the story but you do realise that if you owned these characters we'd all probably make you record them re-enacting all that every honking day so that we could all scream like jackasses?
Just making sure.

Anyway, I loved this - Pam's confession was so Pam - as much as I would love her saying it aloud, I'm in love with you, this - this is courageous, honest, and completely Pam. Not all the way there, but getting close. [I'm getting a TWSS from this one, too; what a gutterhead I'm becoming!]

And I loved that last e-mail, because that's Jim - not saying it out loud, because Karen is still there, after all, but still telling her, because Pam should know.

And finally: I love the stark contrast between Karen and Jim/Pam, seen most obviously in their reactions for Peggy Philpot-Phillips.

Lovely, as always, maybe a little better because your promises were founded this time and you didn't leave us hanging!

Author's Response:

Oh listen, moofoot - if I owned them, I'd so open my home to all of you.  Every day at 4:30, we'd have them re-enact it so we could all clap and squee.  And on Thursdays, it'd be a sort of choose-your-own adventure, where we'd all take turns making them act out whatever scene we want to see.  (Wow, it's disturbing how quickly that popped into my mind.)

I'm glad you liked it -- and you know, while I've written Pam saying, "I'm in love with you" many times, I never can get it to ring quite true for me.  (I've seen other authors do it and make it work, though.)  So this time, I was really trying to just imagine it as I think it might play out on the show.

And while I would love it all to be nice and neat - read: Jim having broken up with Karen well before any advancement with he and Pam - I also think it just might not be as plauisble that way.

Glad you liked it - and thanks for reviewing!

I'm liking where you're going with this!!! It seems sometimes like the two things they have in common are Dunder Mifflin and a great sense of humour - and it's always troubled me that these two, who've said they're the best of friends, probably never did anything after work together at all. And how can they be best friends that way?

So I love the idea. I can't wait to see where you're going with this!

And that's why I shall not, shall not, be moving from this seat here until you get a new chapter up. Unless I need to pee or get something to eat. ...or be productive. oO Okay.

Author's Response:
Wow!! Thanks so much for the review!
And you're right, I've always been bothered by the fact that they're supposedly "best friends", but they don't even know each other's families. Or anything outside of work. I'm just wondering what they could possibly have in common that could keep them together.

And hey, you know you could always wear those astronaut diapers, right? And two words for you: home delivery.

Can't provide any concrit, I'm afraid, because I love this story too much, already! - from Count Chocula to the first and last names to the small and easy heart-to-heart before switching back the the bantar - you've got Jim and Pam down, Ms Kensington, and that is quite amazing. I can't wait to see their next meeting!

Also, you should know I'm considering astronaut diapers. They make the wait for updates a lot more manageable.

Author's Response: Hee.
You're making me blush.
I actually can't tell you how much I appreciate you saying all of that because I AGONIZE over how I write already established characters. I don't like stories that go way too OOC, so I try not to commit the same blunders. I also try to remember that they would speak like real people (who are far from perfect). But then again, the way real people speak looks really crappy when written down, so it's a compromise.
And don't worry. I should have the next chapter up next week.
cheers.

Crap, do you know how beautiful this is? absolutely gorgeous, flowing, stopping but not really stopping, and the descriptions, and the movements, and lines, and the words, and the way everything just works. I love this. I adore this.

And the emotions of this - just wonderful, palpable, so there. I love how everything meshes together [I've already said that but I do] and you can see the emotions are meshed together, too - there's never a moment when she's feeling just one thing, and...wow.

I loved how well you've written Pam, as well - something about the almost poetic way you've written this makes it seem as if it's hers, in her colours and strokes and lines.

And I adored so many lines about this it's insane - the way you say she never really thought about him, except - all the time. And I love how some questions end in fullstops, how some things she says [and doesn't] he can read so well - of course he can. He doesn't misinterpret.

And the imagery! So beautiful it's brilliant. I loved the final part, the idea of them standing together, there, against the vending machine, him laughing into her skin because he hit a button, how she goes it's just what I wanted and he goes I know and you get the strangest feeling they're not just talking about the bar - and I love that you didn't mention that, so we see that ourselves.

I'd give you some strange 'you are my idol!' star-sticker but I'd feel like a doofus.

Absolutely lovely, though. I love this so much it's insane. Gorgeous. I don't know how to stop.

Heck, I'm probably going to end up sending you a 'you are my idol!' star-shaped-sticker, anyway.

Author's Response:

I'm almost afraid to respond to this because it is so beyond awesome and I want to do your comment justice (even though there's no way I could do that since it is so completely fabulous).  I can't tell you how much I appreciate the thought and time you put into reading and commenting on this.  It is seriously amazing and you are wonderful.

I'm so happy to hear you liked the line about how she doesn't think about him even though she does because that's really what I think Pam's like, or at least what she used to be like -- she really doesn't realize how much Jim means to her, how much he is in her mind and her life.  Glad to hear that rang true for you too!

And complimenting my imagery -- well.  YOU WIN.

Thanks again.  You are amazing for this comment.

This is heart-breaking, sad, so real, and just - so final, but yet I am convinced that it's not. Not the end, not final. Please prove me right.

I loved the descriptions, and wow, the emotion in this hits me in all directions - I love the idea of Jim collapsing and crying, because dammit, he's going to have to learn to live with a lot of things. I love the idea of Jim hating the man who doesn't even exist yet. I love the idea of a final hug to have a final memory.

Even though even saying all of this has got me damn near tears.

I love this too much to say properly. So please, please, please give us something to look up to - this is angstier than the angst we get on the show, and that is saying a hell of a lot.

Oof, here's a tip, Geinnob: never preface a fic with mentions of booze and General Hospital. Seriously. The only reason I read more was because I worship your stories.

As always, same reaction for this one.

First of all: loved the brief descriptions of both Kelly and Karen here - Karen's [sad] timing, coming in sleek, and Kelly adding as many 'o's to 'so', abusing exclamation marks, etc., is just so very her that even without the name upfront I would know exactly who it was, how she'd be saying it.

And PAM! I love 'she sits and waits (which is what she does for him now)', because that's [sadly] true, I love how she knows what he's thinking about, going to say, and how he doesn't have to say anything directly before she goes 'give me a reason'. And I love her reasons, her solutions for getting a reason, I loved that bit about her plans tonight, and I loved the how please, just don't go is so incredibly potent, real, powerful - brilliant. So much silence, too, still, but they're getting closer.

And at first I was feeling mildly irritated with Jim, for asking something of her this way, even though he can't, he won't do anything about it yet, but then I figured this is just a step closer [or miles closer, maybe, comparing this to the 'steps' we see on the show] from what they were before - there's some sort of hope, in there, and you got that across so well in the last sentence: ...it's a lot, actually.

Gorgeous, as always. If General Hospital was even a quarter-written this way, I may be able to survive ten minutes of it. I may need that alcohol, though, of course. ;)

Author's Response:

OK, moofoot - give me a break here; it was one beer, and GH is a decade old habit - I watch it on ff.  :)  But, all is forgiven because, hello!?! "worship" is a spectacular compliment, and I'm not proud - I can be bought with spectacular compliments. :)

Also?  I love that fact that this review has almost as many words as the whole story.  (Man, I sound conceited right now!)

Thank you for your wonderful comment about the Kelly stuff.  I really want to write Angela, but I can never pin her down.  Writing Kelly, however, doesn't seem to be a problem. (If I thought harder on that, I'm sure I'd be depressed.)

Thank you for liking that Pam waits:  that's exactly how I feel about her now.  Poor Pam!

Jim, Jim, Jim...I almost wrote Pam telling him to get over himself because I'm annoyed with him too, but then....I remembered S2 and how I spent every episode bemoaning "Poor Sweet Jim" and how much I miss PSJ.

Thank you for always giving me the ego-boost I so often need.

Summary: Pam didn't know it could be like this. A very fluffy Jim/Pam fic, set sometime in the future. No specific spoilers.

Have I read this before? I'm sure I have, but I just read it again [and a couple more 'again's, actually] and I just loved this, again. And my favourite line?: Worth fighting for and has to be fought for aren't the same thing after all. I'm so delighted she got that!! And I love how that affects the way she sees everything else, too.

And the painting of Jim leaning back and laughing full-throated is one of the most gorgeous things I've even heard of - awesome job!!!

Author's Response: Yay, thanks so much!

Oh, crap, I was going to have a nice long review, but right now I have to economical with my words - I can't think of anything else to say - and you'll have to stick with these things

1) Jim is being an asshole
2) Your Michael is SPOTON. as is Dwight!
3) I am liking Ryan and that is - strange, because I was very mad at him for a while, and believe it or not it was Business School that made me like him even less, but I'm liking him - I like that you've made his jokes/cracks the kind of thing he would say, considering his darker, more cynical take on things. Nice.
4) However, if they go beyond this you look really amazing tonight, I am going to whine, and fall on the floor, and roll, and roll, and cry.
5) and your comment in the last chapter is the only thing that's kept me hanging on your every other word
6) other than your amazing story, of course :P [because I know I'll be reading this however that goes]
7) and also your amazing depiction of Drunk!Pam, because I'm straight, but when I read or watch drunk!Pam I feel woozy and feel like hugging her to death.

Yes. So. Hurry up and update.

Author's Response: Heehee, you are wonderful for taking the time to write all of that out! I'm so happy to hear that Dwight and Michael are in character (as I always worry about those two), I'm glad that Ryan is staying in character for you, and yes I will come through with my promise on the last chapter.  Maybe not in an expected way... okay, I might get garbage thrown at me, but oh well, its fanfic :) Also, I adore Drunk!Pam. I wish I could be her friend, heehee. THank yoou!

OH THAT IS SO RIGHT I AM THROWING GARBAGE AT YOU.

After you finish the story.

Author's Response: Hahaha, I'll get my umbrella out...

This is going to be completely insuffient but GUH, the cliffhangers!! Long chapters, yes, but CLIFFHANGERS. And I still have no idea where you're going with Ryan/Pam. I like Kelly, too, OK? Not as much as Jim/Pam, but I like Kelly, and Ryan/Pam will kill off both Kelly and Jim/Pam and that is...not very nice.

I can't believe how much you've made me like Ryan/Pam, though - I won't kill you, maybe just be a bit mad. Pretty mad. Do not see that as encouragement.

It's surprising how in-character you seem to have kept Ryan - I love that. He's different but you can still put those feelings and gestures and expressions and voice and statements to the same person/character/face, and that takes a lot of talent, I believe. ;)

Great job, as always. Update quick before I find the need to run after you. I have your [e-mail] address!!!

Author's Response: Thank you so so much for saying that about keeping Ryan in character, I've been really hoping to keep him as true to his character as the show as I can, yet still making him somehow nicer so you have no idea how great that is to hear!  I'm sorry about the cliffhangers (ok, not that sorry ;) )  I hope to update soon... don't come after meee!!
