This story will go as long as you, the readers, want it to.

Dang. This is HOT! Keep going!

Summary:

I needed some cheering up, so in that vein, here is an incredibly un-angsty little piece of fluff. It's only three parts long and it's almost all done.

Pam and Jim reconnect in the most unlikely of all places...

Fluff + fasterthansnakes = FTW!

I watch for your stories like some kind of crazy stalker -- you have quickly become my go-to-gal for well written, thoughful, fun stories. Flonkerton of all things? Hee! Love it.

Oh. My. God! You MUST keep going! You can’t end it here!

Ok, enough demands. I loved this entire story (like I love all of yours), but especially THIS little bit: I never loved her like I loved you. I loved her, God I mean I loved her and she was…is…beautiful and wonderful and we had two gorgeous kids and she made me laugh and sometimes I could forget…but I was always in love with you, even when I didn’t want to admit it to myself” because I think this perfectly captures what we saw last night on the show. He seemed happy with Karen, finally, but I don’t think he feels for her yet (if ever?) what he feels/felt for Pam. I can see he and Karen taking that “good enough” relationship a decade further and ending up in this same place.

One of the reasons I heart your stories so is that you have such a good grasp of the characters and their voices. This story is no exception. Turpentine! Adventure Zone is a guy's paradise! Just perfect.

I would love more of this. Seriously. AUs are my favorite thing in Office fic, and I have a soft spot for future fics (where we didn’t have to see all the torturous years when they were apart.) Great job, Snakes!

How is it that I get completely sucked into whatever AU you create for these two? I heart this story so much. As a mom of two little kids, I can totally relate to important moments happening in Chuck-e-Cheese and the like. Plus I just LOVED their hot steamy kisses in front of the mini-mall...*sigh* Real life. Awesome.

So, yeah, I would love more of this story!

This is just what I needed to read, because during this episode, before Ballsy!Pam's declaration, I really felt like Jim and Karen were a real couple -- a playful, TOGETHER couple. I felt sad for Pam watching on the sidelines, but I was a little happy for Jim that he finally seemed happy with Karen. That presents lots of interesting places for the triangle to go now that FNB has said her piece...and I can't wait to see your angle on things!

Great start...looking forward to more!

Author's Response:

Why I'm feeling all nostalgic tonight, I don't know, but I swear - the reviews from you guys who are so faithful about reviewing are making me all, awwww!!!!!  Lapdogdesign left a review!  Oooh, so did yippee!  And lisahoo!  And Azlin!  :o)

Anyway....

I thought they seemed really sweet, too, and god, yes, I felt so awful for poor Pam.  When she was eyeing the coals, I was so rooting for her.  And good god, when she started blurting it all out, I gasped and cried like a big jackass for her, because it has taken her so long to get to this point.

I've definitely got the ending in mind (which is why I don't think this'll be another epic - am seriously feeling the need to finish "Only" because people have been so great about it).  But what I really, really want to do is write something that I think would be remotely true to the show (read: Not an immediate, "OH, I LOVE YOU, TOO!" from Jim, but some conflicted emotions).

I will say this, though: I've been content, and I've been alive.  And let's just say that Mr. Girl7 makes me feel content AND alive.  :o)  (Translation: Karen = contentment)

Summary: Speculation for finale, plus obvioulsy speculation of post-beach games. Basically, this is how I'd want the finale to be for Pam and Jim.

I loved this!

Its funny, because I sort of had the same thought/wish/prediction for the finale -- that Karen would get the job, and that she and Jim would intend to do the long distance thing while Jim stays in Scranton with Pam. It was the most realistic way to keep Jim and Pam apart romantically (something I think the showrunners will have to do) at least for now...allowing them to grow into friends again, and maybe more when Karen (like in your story) inevitably hooks up with a mover-and-shaker who's more her speed.

So, needless to say, I think your vision is spot on! :D Great job!

(Oh and this made me laugh out loud:  "...she might want to commit suicide because the stress of her modern office might have caused her to go into depression" Bwahaha!)

I loved this story. Especially their wedding on the beach...if I had it to do again, mine would be just like that. You did a great job describing the scene, and I loved their one-line message to Phyllis. And the reasons for the fights were totally realistic too.

I went to school in Cincy and keep trying to imagine where Jim and Pam were, leaning against that iron fence. :D

This was really well done. Well written, and your descriptions were excellent, especially the image of a scruffy Jim in a sweatshirt and cargo shorts, wading barefoot into the water (I have a thing for tall man calves, just like so many JK fans like his forearms, so his outfit hit me right THERE. Guh.)

I especially liked that Jim referred to June 10th as his independence day. That, "he wasn’t enough of a jackass, enough of an idiot to go after someone else’s wife."

But the part that was just perfect was when he said "I do" to her.*sigh*

Very nicely done! I'm off to see if you've written more here.

Oh and this chapter was great too. Loved that Pam brought him flowers. And Michael's pale, shaken reaction to Ryan's promotion. And Jim calling to check up on Karen was really in character because he really isn't a bad guy.

Well done. More, please!

Oh man, a woman after my own heart.

In my post-finale euphoria, this was one line of the gushy Office praise on my LJ...

And guh, I haven't felt such messenger bag love since S1 of VM.

Seriously, I almost spent $75 to buy Veronica's messenger bag on eBay back in the day, and if I knew what brand/model Jim's bag was, I'd be buying it for my husband.

Anyway...back to the story. I loved Karen's complete disconnect (like with the haircut and the evening in NYC) between who Jim IS and who she WANTS him to be. The fancy briefcase (with the shiny brass nameplate) is so not who he is. Plus I loved your backstory on the bag with Pam and the trip to Cugino's.

Nicely done!

Author's Response: So I have a brown messenger bag, bought way before I became the freak that I am about this show, and while it is a much more feminine version of it, I still geek out everytime I use it. Thank you so much for your kind words! And btw, I'm also on LJ! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the fabulousness that is this show :) My username is "swayinisdancin", feel free to add me! This was really fun. You made the reader wonder a bit, just like Jim did. And Mark's reaction was hilarious. Typical guy.

But I have to tell you (and I'm revealing my inner dork here), when Jim and Pam were looking at Saturn Devouring His Children I was thinking to myself, "Wait -- that's a mistake! That painting's in the Prado!" (I saw it there, and it really made an impression on me.) But then, of course, they're student reproductions hanging in Scranton. Duh. Lighten up, lapdog! *facepalm*

The inability of my inner dorn to suspend disbelief aside, I just loved this. And Salem's Lot *is* way scary -- the movie positively haunted me as a kid. But this was my favorite part:

A year and a half ago, he was asked where he saw himself in ten years. And when he thought about it, he didn’t see big cities and big money. He didn’t see Karen or himself going to large parties, mingling with higher-ups or any of that meaningless shit. He only saw years and years of Pam. Of this. Of yogurt lids and flower peddles. Of Chinese takeout and cheesy movies. Of sacrifice and fear, fights and laughter.

He saw the life he had wanted.

*sigh*

I love fics because they delve into the thoughts of the characters that we never get to see/hear. You've done a great job of that here, with Jim. And really showing that not even Jim will ever know all of Pam's inner thoughts. Very cool.

Summary:

Jim's first barbeque was a success and so he decides to have another. Someone breaks into the liquor cabinet and things... take interesting turns.

Favorite parts?
he wanted to file every part of this moment away because no one would ever be better than this, than her

“I love Roy,” it sounded like a question, but he kept it to himself. “Why do I not feel guilty?”

It just all feels so real, like it really could have happened this way. Very well done.

Wow. Perfect ending, I suppose the Booze Cruise is the secret retreat that Jim is referring to. So this story could work right within canon. But PAM!!?! There's no way she could in good conscience go happily along with the wedding plans knowing what she knows now, what it's like to be with Jim, especially when they're sober. She CAN'T! *whines*

Seriously, though. Great ending. Open ended is the best, even when especially when it hurts a little. (Though don't let me dissuade you from writing a sequel from Pam's POV.) :D

I knew they would get busted for being out in the park too late. The whole time I was thinking, "Don't those places close at dark?"

But on a serious note, I love their conversation as the date continues. It kind of makes me sad that we won't get to see any of this in canon.

Author's Response:

You're the only one to think that...I knew that the lake beach and parks closed around nine because I live in a lake town...but, most people didn't know that. Good catch.

This is really good. It's nice to see the backstory to their Memorial Day date/Kevin Smith marathon. As a big KSmith fan (especially a fan of Mallrats - my husband and I visited the mall in Minneapolis where it was filmed like complete geeks) I can agree with that choice wholeheartedly.

I liked Jim's explanation to Karen that he had given  a piece of himself to Pam and thus could not give all of himself to Karen. And I liked that she understood, even though she was still gonna bash him to her friends. That felt really realistic to me.

Looking forward to more!

Author's Response:

Haha!  Thanks for the comment.  Yeah, my whole house (hubby plus four other roommates) loves KS, so it was very natural for me to choose that.  As I was writing, I wanted him to bring something... quirky.  Something that would not be all gushy romantic, but that they would both still like... so Kevin Smith marathon it was!

As far as Jim's explanation to Karen, that actually stemmed from a few conversations over at the nbc boards, about whether or not Karen was really "bad."  I decided that for this fanfic, she is wounded and bitter, but not completely evil.  She is vindictive, and a little bitchy, but with reason.  And Jim wasn't a complete moron when he started dating her... she WAS fun for a while... but she's not Pam.  And that's really all there is to it.

Thanks for the comments!  I hope you keep reading my stories... :)
