Work was a lot more fun a year ago. Set mid-season three with the very vaguest of season three spoilers.
Oh, Pam. This so perfectly captured her situation in s3. She's just sort of there, drifting, and it's heartbreaking and real and you have that overall tone down so well.
"Can’t we just take a moment to celebrate the fact that we’ve reached the six month mark rather than analyzing how we got here?" A nice quiet anniversary dinner turns into something more than that.“Have you given any more thought to where you wanna go on vacation?”
“Um, not really. Why don’t you just pick somewhere and let me know what to pack?”
I ws reading this and it felt so familiar, and then it hit me- it reminds me of how I imagine Roy was with Pam, letting her take the reins b/c he just didn;t care about certain things (the wedding, for ex.) as much as she did. The thing with Roy and Pam, and the thing that you've illustrated so wonderfully in this fic with Karen/Jim, is that, even though there are clearly things they liked about each, it's just not enough when two people just don't click. I really like that aspect of the Karen/Jim dynamic, and you've developed it really well in this fic. Love the idea of Jim wanting to just enjoy the dinner, but Karen wants to analyze it, b/c she's more invested than he is. And I *adore* the last two paragraphs- I'd love for them to part so amiably on the show. Great job, overall!

Aww, me too Jim, me too, b/c I can completely imagine Karen saying something like this at the end of things. And I agree that Jim wouldn't have just left Karen- there had to have been some sort of convo, and I imagine it went almost exactly like this. Great job!

This oneshot is based on a prompt at TWoP to write a fic based on a screen shot from Gay Witch Hunt showing that Jim has a note stuck to his monitor reading, "Smile!" This is what I imagine he was thinking when he looked at it. Oh, so, spoilers for Gay Witch Hunt, sort of.
I love this. It's awesome how you took such a tiny detail and incorporated it so well into the storyline, with the post-it an example of how hard Jim's trying to fit into his new life. Excellent job.
Just one question, b/c I am a complete moron: I don't quite understand the ending. Is the smile post-it obsolete b/c, now that Jim knows Pam called off the wedding, he feels like he doesn't have to force himself to smile b/c he's so happy? Or, is it obsolete b/c he knows she called off the wedding and didn't mention it to him, and he's so upset that he a) realizes that no post-it is going to change that and/or b) is deciding to really move on, now, and that involves truly embracing his new life w/out any reminders?

I love this so much! As awesome as the season finale was, the JAM stuff was so quiet and somber, at times; I love this idea of post-finale giddiness. And Jim needing meds so his smile doesn't break his face = so, so cute. Great job!

A few people run into Jim Halpert at the Super Walmart.Excellent chapter. I really like Karen's characterization, here- the way she, at first, maybe derives pleasure from Pam's insecurity but ultimately shows true happiness for them. It really ties in well with how nice she is but, also, how insecure she was over the Jam 'relationship' during s3. You also have Jim and Pam's voices down, too- *loved* Jim thinking that he should look for Pam's mind amongst the chips.
Now that they are together, it's all about them."She screams his name when she comes. After the third night he stays over, her neighbors introduce themselves by saying “You must be Jim.” "
Hehe! That is the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Excellent little fic, overall.
Love this! You have their voices down well. I'm guessing the doctor thing was a reference to the fact that JK's family is full of doctors, which just makes the whole thing cuter. And the ending=perfect. Great job!

I really love this description of the Pam/Roy relationship- it's so true and extremely well-written, really beautiful to read. Excellent fic, overall.
The road to perfection isn't paved in gold.I *love* this. I love the look inside pre-date!Jim's head. He's excellently in-character- picking what music to play, what clothing to wear, basically being a girl, a la s2 Jim. Really great story...can't wait to see where it goes!
