Totally believable "behind the scenes" scene. I have a feeling there was some smoochin' going on up there. The only thing I would have loved to have seen would be for Jim and Pam to suddenly hear "Take a chance on me" coming up through an air vent. :)

Excellent!

Swedge, this is brilliant. Such a nice way to help bring the archive back from the brink. I can believe that this was the straw (or french fry, as it were), that finally broke the monkey's back. This should have been a deleted scene from the Launch Party episode. Well done.

Author's Response: Thanks.  Poor possum's back probably isn't faring too well either after this.

This was all kinds of amazing! Wow... let me just take a second to get my head around the awesome here... :)

First of all, you had me at the rich aroma wrapping around like a quilt. But you didn't stop there. You kept pummeling me with that hilarious German phrase (I guess studying German in college finally paid off!); the folding of napkins into chimerae; the horrifyingly tender image of Dwight singing along to "Fernando"; Matthias, the friendly mouse.

And why does that last image remind me of Mr. Jangles from "The Green Mile?" :P

Fabulous story.

Author's Response: See? College does eventually come in handy :)  Thanks, Cousin Mose!

Is it wrong that I wanted Jim to stuff the rest of that orange up Ryan's nose, slice by slice? :)

This is a great snippet that I'm sure really took place between them. And I would love to see some jealous!Ryan try and come between Jim and Pam and the ensuing rump-kicking that would surely result. Poor Ryan would be forced to retreat back to his new corporate cocoon with his tail between his legs again... :)

Great story!

Author's Response: Hey CM...you know I almost made this chapter longer, but I just couldn't think of how it would really go down between Ryan and Jim. Jim seems so non-confrontational and that he would almost be more passive agressive in his retaliation....we'll see what happens. Maybe Jim does need to send Ryan back to his corporate cocoon...hmm...

Okay, wow... I'm pretty sure you've got access to a time machine, and you've been to their future and seen this actual series of events. Because... holy cow. This is absolutely believable, to the point of hurting just a little bit. But in a good way.

I applaud writers that have the courage to let these characters fail as well as succeed; that allow the rain to fall in between the sunny, unicorn-and-rainbow filled days we always seem to give Jim and Pam.

Excellent all the way around. And welcome back. I, for one, have noticed your absence and am happy that you have returned.

Author's Response: Mose-Thanks so much.  I was defintiely shooting for realism.  I'm not much for hardcore, griefbone banging angst, but hopefully this struck a balance.  And thanks, it's nice to be back.

You aren't going to believe this, but the first draft of the Halloween story I just posted had a scene where Michael pretends to rob the office with a fake gun. I'm not kidding! I took it out because it just wasn't working with the rest of my story. I see now that it fits much better here. And the additional information of Michael pretending to be OJ? Well, that's way better than what I originally had.

Nice job!

Reading about the application process for the finer things club as you have it here was INFINITELY more interesting and funnier than the actual finer things club! :)

This was so great. Reading about everyone's answers was like peeking at a personality test of sorts. You have a terrific grasp of the characters' voices, and it was a treat to read this!

P.S. Oscar....is kind of a bitch. :P

Author's Response:

Wow! That was a quick response. I hadn't even polished it up yet! You do know that I wrote it specifically for you, don't you? I knew you hated the b-plot so much that I had to think of SOMETHING to make you like it a little bit more. Okay, first of all, will you forgive me for not reading this story until now? Can this be a "sin free zone" like Angela's car? (Possibly the funniest line I've ever read--literally guffawing out loud over here!)

I can't even describe how great this was. You write Angela so well it's a little spooky. Now I have to go read the next chapter! This definitely deserved the ribbon it's proudly wearing!

Author's Response: Lol, Mose I will forgive you.  Consider the review box a sin free zone. (glad you liked that part!) I was definitely spooking myself out with the Angela POV. So much fun though! Just keep out a thesaurus of nasty, uptight words and you're golden!

*Mose stands up in the front row, applauding and whistling loudly*

Shan, this was PERFECT. I mean...wow... can it be Mose story hour for just a moment? Okay, good.

See, this really hit home for me, because I've been where Jim is. When I first told the future Mrs. Mose I was in love with her, I got the EXACT same reaction as Pam gave Jim. Which is to say, silence and a confused look on her face. And I thought for sure my world was over.

Luckily, Mrs. Mose said essentially the same thing to me that Pam said to Jim, thus alleviating my fears and causing me to step back from the ledge. And, two weeks later, she did say it to me. The rest is history. :)

So yeah, this story really resonated with me on a level I hadn't thought about in a while. Kudos to you and your brilliant mind, my friend!

Yeah...this is SO FREAKING GOOD.

Author's Response: Wow, Mose! I love Mose story hour. See, I've never been told anyone I love them, so it was kind of hard for me to guess how Jim would feel in a situation like this.  I'm glad that Mrs. Mose and my Pam acted alike :) It means a lot that you connected to this on such a personal level.

Shan!! What a treat to find this newly-completed story today!

Okay, first things first. I put your well-deserved ribbon back where it rightly belongs. (They tend to drop off when you change the status from "incomplete" to "complete." We really need some better glue, huh?)

I LOVED this chapter! What a perfect way to end this perfect story! There were several laugh-out-loud moments for me, including, but not limited to:

-"doe-eyed rogue." I feel compelled to warn you that I'm going to start a band with that name now. :)

-"nerfherder?" YES! An old school Star Wars reference FTW!

-Jim's list of commandment-breaking activities.

-And, of course, the Baby Ruth epilogue...

Just bravo and major kudos all the way around on this one, shan! It was just the thing for a Monday afternoon!

Not cool, girl7.... not cool. :D

In all seriousness, though, I can already tell that this story is going to be a doozy. Makes me wish I had time to read more than just the first chapter right now. But I promise to come back soon and read and review the remaining chapters, okay?

Also, it will sound totally inadequate and will border on silly to say this, but I honestly don't have any other words right now except "WOW," "GUH," and "FLAVENSTEENG," which I don't think is an actual word, but which nonetheless sums up my reaction to this story.

In conclusion, Hi, I'm Mose, and I'm an idiot for only having recently discovered your work. I'm trying to rectify that. Thank you. :)

Author's Response:

You are too kind, my friend.  :o) I'm glad you enjoyed the first chapter -- and yeah, this one is a dark one, but I can assure you that it ends on a very happy note.  (You know I'm incapable of ending a story with darkness.  Well, except for the Jim/Jan one, but that didn't count.)  :oD

McGiggles!! How did I miss this little gem? Chalk it up to my being insanely busy lately and not having much time to read. But this was all sorts of amazing. Crawling inside Michael Scott's head can be a frightening experience, and I applaud the bravery you exhibited in doing so. :)

I love your characterization of Michael here. So many true to life moments, from it being bad luck to wipe off a lipstick kiss, to perhaps the REAL reason he harbors so much animosity towards Toby. Maybe if Toby the HR rep left a bra in the men's room occasionally... :P

Anyway, fantastic story!!

Thanks, Mose! I figured Michael would be an amalgam of all things childish and bizarre, and I had a ball writing this. I tried to give it a slightly skewed Christmasy vibe, like A Christmas Story, which is my favorite movie on the planet.  I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
